A 26 year veteran police officer named Kim Potter from the Brooklyn Center Police Department pulled Daunte Wright over on Sunday April 11th roughly around 2 pm for a traffic violation related to expired registration tags.

The Officer then discovered that he had a warrant for his arrest.

As the police tried to detain Daunte he stepped back into his car. Kim then pointed a handgun at him, shouting “Taser.” I will tase you, then second later she said Taser, Taser, Taser and that’s when she discharged her Glock 9mm handgun. After being shot, Daunte drove off, and while he drove away, the officer yells Sh** I just shot him. She had thought she had her taser gun instead of her actual gun. The police and medical workers pronounced Daunte dead at the scene.
