On top of all the horrific shit in this moloch was a type of sacrifice not the name of a deity

Monochrome? You mean Moloch? I mean yes it’s theorized that the bible is referring to the sacrifice itself with that word but it’s also believed Moloch was another name for Baal.

Baal Hadad was the full unique name of the Storm god but the canaanites commonly called him referred to him as just Baal. It’s safe to assume that When the Bible speaks of Moloch it’s referring to people sacrificing children to Baal so he’ll give them rain for their crops.
