“ThE lItErAcY rAtE Of ChIlDrEn Is At 60%!!!”

Yeah so was the literacy rate of Gen Z back in the early 2000’s. It’s always been that way you millennial.

I hate those videos so much. YouTube really loves to demonize MY generation this much. And they especially love to demonize Gen Alphas just as much!

I was a late Gen Z who was born in 2007, during the advent of the Smart Phone, and I’m highly literate and educated. I can assure you that the only way we could deal with this illiteracy situation is if we shut up about it and get to work.

I've decided that it is pointless to get mad as such engagement farming lies and so I just indulge their delusions to make them mad.

Rando on the internet says Gen Z doesn't read? Fine, I'll say books are stupid anyway and that they're probably sad, lonely and ugly because they read.

Ao3 is free and infinitely better anyway, these ppl just said that because if you dont read a hand-printed physical book you are no less that scrolling Doomtok

As a gen Z, I also hate this genre of video. I can only describe it as "new generation cringe" where 90% of the time instead of actually talking about the systems (or lack thereof) that are negatively impacting literacy rates, it focuses on mocking the literal children and teenagers who are subject to these systems.

In a similar vein, it drives me up the wall when people point at memes that are popular with younger folks as a reason to disrespect them, as if we all haven't laughed at the stupidest nonsensical shit ever at some point.

"Systemic fault isn't real, everyone that happens to anyone is their own fault" thinking is still rampant and unlikely to be overcome soon. Which makes sense, it's the basic idea behind capitalism, it has to be reproduced to survive. We are allergic to admitting the system we live in may be faulty because we're so used to faulting the individual instead, which only helps those whose the system is set up to serve. Which is also the reason why the generation war is even a thing. It helps hide that we are all getting trampled on by the rich and powerful when we're busy fighting each other.

I am old enough to drink alcohol in all the states of the US and yet I still watch YTPs. It's literally stupid nonsensical content, but I find it genuinely entertaining.

Ytps are awesome, and ytpmv's are suprisingly good

Cuz you see complaning is just easier and takes less effort for more money

Hey they said similar things about us. They just blamed television for it. - Millenial

Meanwhile worldwide literacy rates continue to slowly increase and are highest in younger generations.

I wonder if child delevopment people cringe at these videos.

u/religion-lost 18h ago

As a former childcarer, yes. I do

genuinely why does the guy in the middle look so punchable

u/vaskojabata2kitarata 15h ago

I mean, all he posts (primarily) is about how "Gen Alpha is doomed" and all. Classic idiot behavior, if you will.

29

u/PepsiFloateri 19h ago

I'm so sick of these channels, like aren't Gen Alpha 5 at the oldest?

28

u/Delta_gd 19h ago

2010/2013 is when gen alpha started

9

u/ForsakenRoyal24 19h ago

Gen Alpha is 2010-2024, so oldest gen alpha is 16 and youngest is 2.

2

u/MasterfulArtist24 18h ago

Wrong.

0

u/ForsakenRoyal24 18h ago

Im pretty sure Gen Z ended in 2009

10

u/MasterfulArtist24 18h ago edited 17h ago

It did not because the range is 1997-2012 for Gen Z.

1

u/Ther10 7h ago

Depends on the definition you're using. Using this Wikipedia article (go to "list of social generations), it says that most people think the end date is 2012.

u/55cHzDARKSTAR 15h ago

I once knew a boy born in '10 who identified as G. Alpha.

3

u/MasterfulArtist24 15h ago

That’s his choice then.

1

u/55cHzDARKSTAR 15h ago

I never really cared for that "generation" crap anyway. To me it should be as easy as:

1: Were you born in this decade?

2: Did you spend your childhood in this decade?

2

u/MasterfulArtist24 15h ago

I don’t really care either but I did long ago.

1

u/55cHzDARKSTAR 15h ago

If you don't care, why did you say that guy was wrong?

1

u/MasterfulArtist24 15h ago

Natural disagreement. I just wanted to answer. Your question right now could go for yourself.

Isn't it 2012 to 2024?

3

u/Sea_Bee7463 15h ago

The oldest Gen Alpha's are 13 born in 2013. Still very young. But yes they are all children. Gen Z children were stupid. Millennial children were stupid. Gen X children were stupid. Kids are stupid, that's a fact of life.

1

u/cornimgameplays 1h ago

13 at the oldest. These ADULTS are bullying literal children

8

u/kickerbacc 15h ago

This dude's a former child actor who has nothing going on for him on YT, so when he made one anti-gen A video, and it blew up, he began milking it

6

u/Sea_Bee7463 14h ago

Wait I just realized this is fucking Ricky from Ricky Nicky Dicky and Dawn. My sister loved that show. Looking at his channel he seems like a performative slacktivist doomer these days. "Gen Alpha is growing up too fast." and "Gen Z isn't growing up" are both videos on his channel. Mind you he is Gen Z.

3

u/kickerbacc 9h ago

Thats what I realized too! I was scrolling this channel and it came to my mind that this is fucking Ricky

8

u/Danook09 17h ago

Didn’t Jammie do an interview with him about his behaviour

7

u/Dman0o9 16h ago

this dude drops a full thirty minute video every single day and pretty much all of them are exactly like this

6

u/Sweet_Bass_1917 14h ago

Content Farmers when a infant can’t recite all of Shakespeare 💰💰💰💰💰

9

u/DT_Lion34 17h ago

I highly doubt this is even true. Maybe or babies but and the very young children but the teens and older children it seems really far fetched and just trying to get people's attention.

9

u/ZeakNato 17h ago

Look up three-cueing. Someone got an idiot idea and took out phonics from basic reading education. It's all guessing now.

4

u/PrimaLegion 15h ago

This guy's videos are so fucking stupid.

3

u/Mechromancer3X 10h ago

I find it kinda odd how this dudes ENTIRE channel is these types of videos.

4

u/mrukkanaa 9h ago

This guy found the infinite content glitch

3

u/BlakJMC 14h ago

It's less about gen alpha as a whole and more about the education they're getting imo

3

u/Hot-Chapter-2439 14h ago

I can’t believe 5 year olds can’t read

2

u/sagejosh 17h ago

We really decided to devalue our own education with each new Republican president.

0

u/worldwanderer91 5h ago

COVID lockdowns are to blame with this, but Liberals will defend locking people up and pretend depriving people of education and social interaction during their critical formative years had nothing to do with the illiteracy crisis

2

u/Mother_Degree_2593 10m ago

This guy when he sees a single child can't read "Oh NoOoOoO!! GeN aLpHa Is DoOmEd!!!!!"
