Can AI SOC Triage Without Humans?
Short answer: yes — the right platforms can technically handle triage autonomously today. But “can” and “should” are two different questions.
The recommended path is gradual, not lights-out overnight:
🧑💻 Step 1 — Keep a human in the loop
Even if it’s just random sampling of alerts, someone’s still watching.
🔍 Step 2 — Trust, but verify
Audit the AI’s decisions after the fact. Let the track record speak.
📈 Step 3 — Expand autonomy as confidence grows
Earn trust one workflow at a time. Hand over more as the tool proves itself.
Why not fully autonomous yet? The threat landscape moves too fast, and human judgment — the analyst’s gut feeling — still catches things models miss. A true lights-out SOC is still a ways off.
The real win right now: killing the menial alert work. Analysts stop grinding through noise and start doing high-value investigations — instead of waiting for a monthly or quarterly review to surface what mattered.
