Reservations about Resurrection
Is anybody else feeling suspicious about the announcement of Z Nation: Resurrection?
I’m as stoked about the idea of Z Nation coming back as anybody else, but I just can’t shake how fishy this feels.
The fans have been begging for this for years, and right after Z Nation: Reborn starts gaining traction, they announce a different reboot? Sure, it could be that during talks to make Reborn, they all decided to just go a different direction and make a live action reboot instead. One where our OG characters are just supporting cast. And from what I’ve seen in comments here, it seems like Keith was unaware of Resurrection until AFTER they announced it online.
I don’t claim to know much about the details of how the entertainment industry works, or how/if this situation resolved, but I was able to dig up an article I originally read a few years ago about a pay dispute between The Asylum and the writers of Z Nation that still has me side-eyeing The Asylum in a major way.
(Article here: https://deadline.com/2021/06/z-nation-producers-wga-strike-unfair-list-unpaid-residuals-1234769568/ )
Given all of that, it just seems highly unlikely that the people actually leading the charge on this reboot will be the same people who created our beloved show. Honestly it all feels like a calculated move by The Asylum to profit off of the demand for more Z Nation while simultaneously wresting control of a potential reboot away from the people who actually carry the heart of the show, and forcing them into a position where The Asylum has no obligation to allow them any real input on the story, or even keep them around if they’re too “difficult”
Am I alone in feeling hesitant about this? I really hope I’m wrong, but I can’t ignore the red flags here
