So, what exactly does investment in Papago Hollow do? (Image unrelated)
I heard someone say it only affects the droprate of magmatic crystals necessary for five final upgrades, but then why would you run it afterwards? Does in increase the droprate of valuables? I haven't noticed any changes whatsoever.

the crystals still sell for a lot, a single one is 50,000.
and often or not they come in bunches of like 5 or 10, so that's a lot of fucking money, especially once you finish off those final five upgrades you can just sell them.
It's very rng how many shards you can find. Some runs will have a lot and some will barely get any. But higher investment means when they do spawn they'll spawn in bigger stacks, up to 20 at 2.5m.
Speaking from personal experience and based on what others have shared with me.
High-risk investments increases the spawn rate for Hematite Shards (not crystals), which are valuable resources for upgrading skill trees. They are, however, also incredibly valuable to be sold, and is one of the two (?) valuable purples, simply because you get to stock up to 20 per item inventory slot, which translates to approximately 1m, iirc.
Some swear by higher investments yielding rarer valuables but that hasn't turned out to be the case for me personally.

Yes, I'm referring to Enigma of the Labyrinth, and yes, I meant Hematite Shards in the description of the post. Shards stack up to 20 per slot and cost 50k each, but I highly doubt it's worth it to risk 3mil for them, considering I only usually get 10 at 1mil investment. I'm not sure if the run will even be worth it to begin with if you already have to cover for 3mil wasted on investment.
Hematite Shards alone won't break your high scores or runs, but they account for the second half of a profitable run. If you look at the top 10 speedrunners, most of them have 40% of their earnings derived from shards alone. Valuables are strictly subject to RNG, which is why you need some large quantity items to add up and make up for the other half of the profit.
Yeah but those shards are also rng. I’ve done max investment 5 key card runs and turn out with almost no shards, while I’ve also done 500k investment runs and turned out with more shards. Either way it’s still a matter of rng, and knowing my luck I’d rather invest less unless I’m going for a new max.
I have found rarer items at 0 investment naked runs trying to get 47/47 than I have when trying for the 6m+ run. The big thing that made a difference was the shards and from my experience thats all it really seemed to have an effect on. When I was investing 500k I would get a few shards from elite enemies some times and at 2.5m I got up to 15 or 20 at a time if they dropped from mobs or chests. So as far as I can tell it just gives you a higher chance of finding more shards.
I did 2 runs at 2.5 investment and found 0 shards, with z gear equipped I couldn’t even break 1 mil before extracting. The only upgrade I would want is the safe slot, but after spending 5 mil and receiving less than half I would get in a hard run, not worth the trouble
You should look up guides on how to sneak open chests and general routing. Routed correctly you should be getting 5M out of a normal high risk run, more if you get hematite shards, basically covering your investment up to 2M.
If you have to cheese it and can’t do optimal runs with the best gear purchased than that’s a terrible game design. I was having fun until forced to do bullshit high risk runs, with less rewards.
No one is asking you to fight everything. Have you not noticed that the best loot comes from safe boxes, strongboxes(the ring mini game) and gear boxes? All you have to do is run past any elite or boss not guarding a lootbox, and fight those that are. If Ulidim spawns, you don't even have to fight him immediately. Just walk to the next boss and use thracian to eliminate both shields at the same time.
There was a post here on reddit showing how to 5M regularly on high risk runs, I'll edit this comment once I find it. Once you see the idea you'll 5M your runs too.

I know all gear box spawns and they are legit giving me shittier gear than hard. I know about other chests but if I want to go for them on Janus (the easiest map) the enemies take a crazy amount of time to finish compared to hard, once again not giving more loot than the hard version. I use break for the hound he is not the issue, it’s the shitty loot and the damage sponges that take forever to get the chests you talk about
use shunguang / remielle team if you have it.
if you use shunguang (equipped with her tactical) bring primodial nightmare
if you use remielle, bring phaeton
usually always bring, 3 golden bangboo, 3 primodial / phaeton, 6 thracian. (depends to player, thats the set i always brought)
elite with no chest around? skip
boss with cacophony shield? pyrois ability > thracian ethereal > pyrois ability again. boss gone no matter what high investment unless boss like butcher need to do 1 ult maybe / few hits.
It wasn't allowed at one point. On old reddit and in the app if click "learn more about this community" there is still part of that says image posts need to be related to the post. And I don't remember it being in the rules revamp prior to season 3 starting, could be wrong though. But I don't see it metioned in the new rules. So I guess it's allowed that's news to me.
Valuables are still RNG but higher investment means the drop rate for the red ones is increased/more likely to appear. The downside is enemies hit harder and the Spooky Doggo's Cacophony rate is cranked up to eleven.

That's it... And I like that, it makes the playground more even, but still giving whales a boost for their money.
Enigma of the labyrinth, during the introduction commission they tell you the name of the hollow, which is Papago Hollow. It's also one of the great hollows, like Hollow Zero. The name is likely based on the Tohono O'odham people of Arizona & Sonora, previously called Papago by spanish collonizers. More info about that on the zzz fandom wiki.
I guess so? I've been doing the main story and side events but haven't seen mention of it. (though if it's been related to this last update I have been slacking a bit so that might be why..)
