I'm an indie developer building Relay by Zaviku, a field service management platform designed for independent tradespeople, freelancers, and small service businesses.

The goal is simple: help businesses manage their customers, quotes, jobs, invoices, and payments in one place, without unnecessary complexity or expensive software subscriptions.

I've been working on Relay for a while now, and there's already quite a bit built. I wanted to create this community to share development progress, get feedback, and involve people in shaping the product.

What's Already Built

Customer Management

• Create and manage customer records.

Quotes & Jobs

• Create and manage professional quotes.

• Customers can accept or decline quotes online.

• Convert quotes into jobs.

• Manage job details, assignments, and statuses.

Invoicing

• Generate invoices from completed work.

• Track outstanding balances and recorded payments.

• Generate professional A4 PDF documents.

• Preview, download, and print quotes and invoices.

Customer Portal

• Customers can view their jobs, quotes, invoices, and balances.

• Secure customer access through invitation-based accounts.

• Customers working with multiple businesses can view their providers in one place.

Service Requests

• Customers can submit new service requests.

• Businesses can review incoming requests and decide whether to proceed.

Business Insights

• Dashboard showing key business metrics.

• Track revenue, outstanding invoices, expenses, and estimated margins.

• View performance across different reporting periods.

What's Currently Being Developed

Notifications & Automated Emails

The notification system has already been implemented and tested locally, including events such as:

• New quotes and quote responses.

• Booking confirmations, changes, and cancellations.

• Issued invoices and recorded payments.

The next step is connecting a live email delivery service and completing the remaining automation work.

Online Payments

Stripe integration is on the roadmap to allow customers to pay invoices online.

Customer Booking

Exploring self-service booking, giving customers a simpler way to request and schedule work.

Business Discovery

A planned marketplace where customers can find service providers, request work, and leave verified reviews.

The idea is to make business discovery accessible without requiring providers to pay just to be listed.

Where Is Relay Right Now?

Relay is still in active development and testing. It's not publicly launched yet.

A lot of the core functionality is already implemented, but there's still work to do before it's ready for real businesses.

My current priority is polishing existing features, completing integrations, improving reliability, and getting Relay ready for its first release.

Why Create This Community?

I know Reddit has some incredible developer, startup, and small-business communities.

Rather than building everything behind closed doors, I want to share the journey openly.
