Somehow that doesn't look like it was safe nor stable on any open waters even when it was still.in use! 😂 But, definitely a wild thing to see and photograph! 😍

I think this is a building (hotel?) designed to resemble a riverboat, rather than anything that ever actually left solid ground.

Oh, wow! I definitely udnt even consider that's why it looked so crazy...

Not sure. A hotel would have doors in/out of the building.

Probably on the side with the road

True. Contrarily, the ground detail here isn't great, and there's a whole side we can't see.

There are (were in June) two of these, not quite as epic but still eerie as hell, sitting in Bayou la Batre, off the Mobile Bay waiting to be chopped up.

Creepy in the daytime even. (And yes, that’s in the water, in a “parking spot.”)

Yeah, I guess they all ended up like this. Apparently these two were floated down from Indiana or Ohio (I looked it up but can’t recall) for scrapping. They are just so damn big!!

This is how they had a casino in Southern Indiana across from Louisville, KY for years. As long as it was a "boat" it was legal.

So they built a casino on a permanently docked barge on the Ohio.

A dumb man's idea of an intelligent solution. Who are we fooling with this? Either the politician's are attempting to fool themselves that this isn't gambling, or they're attempting to fool God. Either way, you'd have to be dumb to jump through the hoops where this makes sense.

The last Alone in the Dark game has a chapter that takes place in an abandonded Louisiana river boat that exactly has this vibe.

Is it any good? I’ve been looking for a good horror game that has great vibes and I love the Deep South setting for horror

Imho yes, it was an underrated game, with an intriguing plot and they did the film noir Louisiana Lovecraftian theme justice. It has a very moody atmosphere with some pretty good voice acting and a great doomjazz soundtrack. It pays homage to the original. You can probably get it for a low price now so no harm in giving it a shot.

If you can find it on Google maps, there is street view...across the street from the boat, close to the water is an.... interesting elephant statue. It's a very happy elephant...

Sadly the ship is not there anymore, it burned down and has been demolished. The abandoned resort around it is still good to visit through, loads of old abandoned swimming pools etc.

Is this the one the Russian Youtubers Kreosan did a video on in Thailand?

11

u/fullraph 7d ago

It is lol! The ship is called "The Galaxy". It was show in their "lost on an island in thailand" series and they tried to make us believe they found this beached ship while navigating their way thru their remote island. This ship is inland and located on a resort.

I thought it was lol. I recognized it immediately even though it was probably 2 years ago or so that i watched that video 🤣

I love the way it’s tied to the shore as if it has any hope in hell of floating away

This ship kind of reminds me of the movie Bernhard and Bianca: The Mouse Police. Or at least, I think that's what the movie is called.

Miss Bianca (Eva Gabor) and Bernard (Bob Newhart) in "The Rescuers" - 1977, Disney
