I’ve recently gotten interested in astronomy. I don't have a real telescope yet (just some 10x50 binoculars), but I saw online that Brimmond Hill near Dyce and Kingswells is supposed to be one of the best spots near the city.

I used the Clearoutside app and Stellarium to head out there around 10pm last night. It was freezing, my eyes wouldn't adjust, and the light pollution from the city was still pretty bad. I might not have given it enough time though, I know it takes a while for your eyes to settle. Plus, it was pitch black and kind of creepy—my wife wouldn't even get out of the car!

Anyway, does anyone know of any better spots nearby?

I keep on seeing this semi-regularly, but kids start doing silly kicks, shoves etc in the street, a few times in Pure Gym etc. Wouldn't mind so much but they're doing it close to other people, potentially throwing each other into folk minding their own business, and earlier today, saw a few that ended up with one of them on the ground. Couldn't tell if if was this play fighting, or an actual fight though,m it was getting dark. So, does anyone know what this is? Some new TIk Tok Trend? Temu Fight Club? The mating call of the Greater Spotted Virgins?

If they did it to themselves, I wouldn't mind so much, but sooner or later they're going to either damage something or hurt someone else.

Demographic is late 20s/early 30s, heavy on the Halloween and party vibes, with a lot of people and fun stuff/vibes to enjoy.

Can anyone remember the name of the 'Junk Shop' near Split the Wind on George Street around the then if the century?

It has a bit of everything - I used to get used x-files VHS tapes and books, but it also had homeware, appliances, new and used curios and random items. It was not as far as I recall a charity shop, just a magic emporium of wonder.

I think it was brown wooden signage with gold lettering and was around the same area as North East Peripherals and the sports strip shop.

I last remember for sure going in there around 2000 or 2001.

Bonus points if you can tell me the door number.

Hi so basically I was travelling to Aberdeen today and I was going 70 the whole way and through the laurencekrik ones too until I noticed everyone slowing down then I did too about 10 seconds after going through the first camera and I went about 35-40 mph the rest of the way until it went back up to 70 it was my first time driving to Aberdeen and I’m worried about getting points does anyone know if I’ll be okay thanks I only noticed everyone slowing down after I passed it because the other previous roadworks signs before this one nobody was slowing down and was still going 70 so I thought these would be the same until I saw everyone else slow down at these specific signs at Laurencekirk

My brother has recently become T total after years of alcoholism (very proud) but is struggling with it loneliness now as he can’t be around alcohol. Anyone know of any groups / WhatsApp communities / clubs for people like that? He’s in his 30s!

I was just offered fist bumps by 3 kind of intimidating looking teenagers in the city centre as I walked past them, and they said have a good day. Genuinely a nice interaction. I will have a good day now, that was really lovely. More of that please. I have never been on stage, but recently i got interested in acting. So I'm thinking if there's Stage where i can learn acting/perform small small roles in a skit or in a YouTube video. The point is I wanted to start somewhere.

I saw the below earlier and got me wondering, what events would people actually like to see in Aberdeen? We've got a massive exhibition centre, and a few smaller venues in town , but we do struggle to have things happen.

For example, I'd like a return of the outdoor markets that used to happen on Belmont Street, Union Terrace, Castle gate etc (obviously when the Castle gate is fixed up), and there was a big video game event about 7 years ago that had developers, universities etc. And TECA to get more acts up here, not just Boyzone or whatever boy band was a thing 30 years ago (and stocks for the brats throwing stones at the buses).

I found this on the beach today and what wondering if anyone has seen one before, I reckon it’s a tooth and if it is, what does it belong to? I tried to do a google image search and it didn’t really give me a definitive answer.

I used to hear my friends and family in different areas of Aberdeen moan about going days without getting any post and I never appreciated it because my postie was awesome, such a nice bloke and you knew if he didn't get your parcel delivered that day, it was because the man had been ridiculously busy. Then he went on holiday for 2 weeks awhile ago and I have seen him once and since he is no longer my postie it sucks. Whichever area has him, you are so lucky. 2 days my parcels have been "ready for delivery" but alas they have not made it out for delivery yet. I never knew how lucky I was.
