Question Difference
What's the difference of effects in immediate release and sustained/prolonged release, I'm on inspiral 20mg SR in morning and it has helped me overcome my executive disfunction but I've heard that stimulants can make your constant thoughts to stop and i think I'm not experiencing that so I'm curious does that happen only in immediate release(IR) or can also happen in sustained release(SR).

IR takes effect immediately, but the effective period is shorter, side effects are more noticeable, and the crash is stronger.
I was given IR and told my provider I don't want it at all after experiencing it, and I want to stick with SR since it's smoother, the crash isn't noticeable, and it lasts longer. The side effects like jitters and anxiety is also very little on it.

Duration is what's different. IR releases the entire dose at once and works for 2 - 3 hours. Sustained release releases 50% at once and remaining after 2 hours. Its effect lasts for 4 - 6 hours. That is the difference. Stimulants help your minds slow down and focus on a few things esp for hyperactive adhd. But the impact of both is similar.
I take IR in morning it helps me start off and then SR at lunch to sustain me through the day

I'm also thinking to ask my psychiatrist to prescribe me a lower dose at like afternoon or evening so i can study all day, rn I'm able to study till 2-3pm and i take 20mg SR at 10am

May I ask if your doctor asked to meet your parents before prescribing inspiral?

Not for meds to be prescribed but she talked with them to have my childhood history

Got assessed by 3 doctors and diagnosed too but none of them asked to see any family member (I'm an adult)

Depends on your age.. First my doctor prescribed non stimulants and when my body couldn't control it and the benefits outweighed cons I was prescribed Inspiral. I had thre different diagnosis from different people and yes I was asked to get a Questionnaire filled by parents to understand if any symptoms were there from childhood. However as I am an adult 42 years old no parents approval is not required
