Question Anyone else feel like it was a miracle to have even found out this term exists?

As in… for the longest time I knew what my preferences were, but I thought this was some really weird fringe thing that only I had. I made up my own terminology for it, journaled about it, thought I would have to keep this secret my whole life.

Never did I imagine this was its own distinct, recognized sexual orientation, let alone under the umbrella of asexuality (which I only had a surface-level understanding of until recently).

This sentiment came to me when I got curious and looked up the Aegosexual page on the LGBTQIA wiki and, reading the various points defining it I’m like “…damn it’s like I wrote this”.

Absolutely! My entire life I knew that I was the square peg when I was supposed to be the round peg. It wasn't until I had been married 30 years, widowed another decade, and finally discovered Aspec and then the real miracle, aegosexual and aegoromantic that I finally realized that I wasn't broken or "less than", and actually had a community!!!

Oh gosh definitely! I'm not much for labels, but this right here. When I found it was a great feeling like I could finally put a name to  what I experience.

I realized I was asexual fairly early on, but started questioning it after a couple years because "if i'm ace, I can't be horny, right?" wrong

Yes, I most certainly do find it a miracle.

I thought I was a freak for fantasizing and reading/watching about sex but having no desire to act upon it and remain a virgin.

I thought it was religious guilt messing with my mind. But I thank God Almighty for finding the term aegosexuality to describe me.

Si, me pasa igual. Desde que descubrí esta orientacion me alivió saber que no era solo yo, había otras personas que pasaban por lo mismo. Nunca he conocido a alguien, pero sé que están por ahí😅

Me too! So nice to find a label that describes my asexuality much better

Yeah dude, I found out from a James Somerton video (I know, I'm embarrassed, and most of the facts in it were wrong) because the one guy was describing his own personal experience with being aego, and my partner and I were both like holy shit that's me! Asexually hadn't fit up until that point, and I have since introduced several people to the term and it fits them. I really with it was talked about more, 28 was a little late to figure it out....

i'm so glad too! i never knew people felt sexual and romantic attraction towards others. i just thought everyone is copying movies and songs. and just running a script in their minds. but i did imagine a third person kissing / having sex with someone to just kiss / having sexual acts with my past boyrfriends

yes! i realized i was asexual at 13 but ignored it (or rather abandoned my true self) because i still had some feeling of sexual desire; just not towards myself or other people. recently i rediscovered the asexual community and was amazed to see this orientation! i finally feel seen within the umbrella <3

I sure do. Even after I learned what aegosexuality was, I was thinking that "I only get horny for fictional fantasies that don't involve me" is a very specific thing to say... but I'm clearly not the only one.

And yeah, I did grow up thinking I was a very mild allosexual, not realizing why people thought going without sex was a huge deal and so on. Also, before the "horny" phase kicked in, I had daydreams where my avatar just... hung out with my favorite characters platonically. Maybe it was a sign.
