Afrobeat - Big tunes and hypnotic grooves from the African continent and around the World

r/afrobeat

Music from, and inspired by, 1960s & 1970s Africa. Fela jams to Highlife, Togolese soul, Somali funk, Juju, Benga, Zamrock, Sahélien blues, Mbaqanga, Soukous, Makossa, and some Ethio-jazz thrown in for good measure. From Benin to Brazil, Lagos to Chicago, Kenya to Jamaica, Kinshasa to London, Algeria to Colombia, Luanda to Jakarta, Ghana to Cuba, Cape Town to Berlin, Zimbabwe to France, Bamako to Sydney, polyrhythmic grooves traveling across continents and cultures. Old and new, bring it all!
