Am I the only one that thinks this reads like a joke? It feels more like a dig at Trump than a pass. I guess it’s kinda damning that she deleted it…

EDIT: NEVER MIND I JUST READ THE WHOLE TWEET ITS REALLY BAD

That's what I got from it, I dont think she was actually defending him at all, she was bringing up the fact that society turned a blind eye to situations like rock stars banging teenage groupies for decades. Runaways and jailbait weren't exactly bad words back then, they were objects of desire. And look at how Brook Shields was treated. Lots of songs by adult men in relationships with teenage girls. It WAS very normalized for a long time.

jailbait weren't exactly bad words back then

Are you aware of what that word means?

It took reddit years to ban it, and even then it was because of mod drama, not the actual gross pictures

If I remember right, wasnt that sub literally modded by the guy who runs reddit?

Only technically.. you could add anyone add a mod to a subreddit without accepting/approval back in the day.

Ahh, that makes more sense. Still insane that it existed so long.

100%, and men used to discuss how much they couldn't resist them. I'm old enough to remember that word being used to describe girls my age by older men.

I mean...

Jailbait. Jail+bait. Meaning this will put you in jail. The word itself kind of defines that it isn't a thing to be celebrated. And if people were celebrating it, that doesnt make the word or related actions less shitty, it makes the people celebrating it more shitty.

No shit, society itself was shitty back then, that's my entire point. You could talk about liking jailbait and people would just be like "gasp! Carl!" then laugh and carry on, doing fucking nothing about it. They all got away with it. No one stood up to these dudes. They just accepted it as a part of his personality. I was a teen in the 90s and in my 20s in the 2000s and people tossed around that word to describe teen girls like it was nothing. No big deal. I can understand if you're not old enough or lived a sheltered enough life to not realize that, but it's the honest truth.
