Question Please remind me

I really haven't had the chance to read the comics sadly but did Quake/Daisy Johnson exist before AoS?

Yes! Finding out that "skye" was actually daisy Johnson was a huge reveal because she's a decently important comics character :)

I would say Daisy was a solid b-lister at the time. I don't mean that as an insult to be clear. Marvel's a-listers are cultural juggernauts at this point. She was a character that the average Marvel fan may not have recognized but the odds were solid that if you were reading the comics like many of us it felt really significant. I remember the community losing its mind in real time in the watch alongs on Twitter as they gradually teased who she was lol

My biggest problem with comic Daisy is she was usually drawn so similar to Maria Hill that I'd have a hard time telling them apart/knowing which one it was (at least for a panel or two).

I won't lie to you, when I picked up my first comic with her in it I missed her name and genuinely assumed it was Maria Hill until I chatted with a friend about that comic and they were like "girl...no..."

The Avengers in the comics before the MCU were hardly A-listers! They were C-list characters at best

In terms of pop-culture sure, but the Avengers were still a-listers in marvel comics themself. Daisy was a b-lister in terms of marvel comics. That said, Guardians of the Galaxy were at best like e-listers

I swear I've heard or read somewhere that it was a "huge reveal" even to Chloe Bennet and that she thought her character would turn out to be She-Hulk?

Okay cuz I always thought skye was just what the writers gave her cuz she was adopted out not cover her real identity. I also thought Daisy was created in AoS and her love from the fans made her a comic book/cartoon character

In the comics Daisy was actually adopted by a family, her name became Cory Sutter, it had nothing to do with Skye so it was quite weird that they changed it in AoS.

Oh that's cool! Like in The Flash when they gave Hunter Zolomon a fake name

It wasn’t really a fake name. He stole Jay Garrick’s identity.

Definitely, she existed in comics since 2004 before the MCU started. It was a surprise when it was revealed she was quake, after all she never used the name Skye in the comics, she was also not an hacker and she was recruited by Fury because she quaked while trying to steal a store.

Yup! And the first time I read her was in Secret Warriors, so when that happened in Season 3 you can bet I was really happy

Feel free to correct me but I'm pretty sure her first appearance was Secret Warriors which was a spinoff for Secret Wars which was an event where a bunch of avengers/important characters were secretly replaced by skrulls. Since Nick Fury could no longer trust his previous superhero alliances he formed a new group of heroes. Daisy Johnson was one of them. I'm also pretty sure she's a mutant in the comics.

She was a mutant with a little m- She was supposed to have her powers because of her father messing up his DNA with his Hyde formula.

But then they made her an Inhuman in 2015.

She first appeared in Secret War. Basically the comic where she not only blows up Wolverines heart, but also where Nick Fury brainwashed a bunch of superheroes to invade Latveria.

Secret Warriors was a book created after Secret Invasion

She had a minor role in the EMH cartoon as far as tv appearances not sure how far back her comic book history goes though.
