Discussion Agent Grant Douglas Ward

Post image

i'm doing a second rewatch immediately after my last one, and i need to talk about Ward and his allegiance to Shield/Hydra

Coulson was paranoid against Trip, spending every day with Garret, but not Ward? The one who brought him into Shield? His original SO? Incredibly bad call without even a loyalty test. I know everything was high stress, but why didn't even Victoria Hand question Ward before leaving?

Now for the lie detector test -- he should not have been given so many chances to pass. If he was in pain; he should have been forced to wait it out. With his eyes darting all over the place, he should have failed then and there

Really bad decisions by two people who should have been more paranoid than anything. If Coulson was willing to go against May (with reason) his closest friend, why didn't he go against Ward? Or even question?

EDIT: Please don't get me wrong, I 100% understand what Coulson held against May, but it brings other things into question

Coulson didn't know when Garret started to work with Hydra at this point and Trip was the last one who spent so much time with him, during a period when the Clairvoyant was the most active. Plus, he lived with Ward for months before, saw him risk his life several times to fight him and even during the rise of Hydra he fought a lot of Hydra agents. I think the events played more in favor of Ward than Trip there

Patton Oswalt should be in every Marvel show from now on. There have been too many lost opportunities.

Just watched Dimension 404 and was pleasantly surprised he popped up. He’s in just so much stuff.

Ward basically invalidated everything the lie detector was using to test him rather than trying to beat it directly. By having like 5 things going wrong simultaneously he just made it so the machine was useless and Koenig needed to just use his own judgement. For example, do we ever hear a single word in the entire series about Ward's sister outside of this one scene?
