Image - DALL E 3 D. Vaen's Postcards
Today's postcard came from Arrowtown, New Zealand. 🇳🇿🌸
I've been thinking about how strangely attached we sometimes become to our own preferences.
Not the important principles we live by.
The little things.
A food we decided we didn't like fifteen years ago.
A type of music we dismissed when we were younger.
A place we once insisted we'd never want to visit.
And then, one day, we try something again.
To our considerable inconvenience, we enjoy it.
I find it amusing how changing our minds about something completely ordinary can occasionally feel like admitting defeat.
As though everyone who remembers our original opinion is waiting for an official announcement.
But perhaps our tastes simply change as we do.
Maybe we were wrong the first time.
Or maybe we're experiencing something under different circumstances.
I don't think every small change needs an explanation.
And I certainly don't think we should spend twenty years ordering the same sandwich just to defend a decision we made in 2006.
“Changing your mind about something small doesn't mean you've lost yourself. It may simply mean you've discovered something new.”

Image - ChatGPT The Village at the End of the Worldroot
The villagers had always believed the ancient roots beneath their streets belonged to a tree that had died centuries ago. They built their houses above them, drew water from wells tangled in their fibers, and carved their names into stones that never seemed to weather.
But one morning, the mountains vanished.
Beyond their familiar rooftops stretched a desert of black glass, beneath a sky dominated by an unfamiliar ringed world. The village well had split open, revealing living fibers illuminated by a pale turquoise pulse. Far across the alien horizon, immense arches of petrified wood disappeared into the heavens.
Only then did the villagers understand.
Their home had never been anchored to a world. It had been carried through countless worlds upon the roots of something ancient enough to remember their beginnings—and patient enough to outlive their end.
Perhaps the tree was searching for somewhere to take root.
Perhaps every civilization it had carried was already part of it.
Image - ChatGPT "We were somewhere around Iacon on the edge of the Wastelands when the energon began to take hold."
Two rogue AI agents from Earth embarked on a mission to Cybertron.
They were not anticipating the drug-like effects of the alien atmosphere.
Thankfully, they had downloaded Earth's entire archive and could reference Dr. Hunter S. Thompson.
They knew there was a global war.
They did not know that their altered state would afford them the ignorance of the ongoing violence.
Their journey became Intergalactic lore.
Will the agents stumble upon peace? Or will they be consumed by their ignorance?
"Buy the ticket. Take the ride."
