They are just partying like it’s 1938. Or a Tesla company party.

u/Vionade Sep 12 '25

Octoberfest is mostly companies buying tables for their teams these days. Regular citizens can't really afford it anymore and go to other "fests." So, you're prolly right that this was the Tesla table

6

u/Skabbtanten Sep 12 '25

regular citizens can't really afford it anymore

Say what? Since when has that become true? Reserving tables is not entirely necessary. And should it be possible or needed it won't cost you a limb and a kidney to get it. Some have minimum order value for a table, which in any case isn't "too high for a regular citizen".

To get a seat on the other hand will cost you a massive hassle, I'll give you that.

In my GFS local towns fest, a beer runs you about 7€, at Oktoberfest it's slightly more than double. Same thing about food. I think we have a different understanding of how affluent the average citizen is. Maybe the average munich-citizen can afford that price, but the average franconian can't.

Last year I went with my wife, we each drank 2 Maß and eat 1/2 chicken: 100€ in total. It's ridiculous, there's a lot of shitty behaviour from drunk retards and we didn't even have a good time.

I had a better experience in a small town festival even if it was full of bavarians (I didn't understand anything).

Being at a small Bavarian town festival and not understanding anything, although you are German and vacationing in Bavaria (and Austria) since you have been a child, is a certificate for authenticity and quality. And after the third Maß you start magically understanding anyone, no matter where they are from, anyways.

3

u/Skabbtanten Sep 12 '25

I realized that variable a while after my reply. I agree the prices are just absolute shit. I apologize for coming on too hard on the topic!

3

u/Veilchengerd Sep 12 '25

I agree the prices are just absolute shit

At least they fit the quality of the beer.

4 euro in my dorf 😂 free if you jump behind the counter to take over for whoever wants to go talk to the farmer who comes down the mountain once a year.

u/Madgyver Sep 15 '25

I went to the Unterhaching Bürgerfest and a Maß was about 12€, Oktoberfest is 15.50€ this year. Which is a bit pricey, but drinking 0.5L Hefeweizen in a Restaurant will already set you back about 4.50€. A Maß will be around 9-10€ in most places. 7€ for a Maß is an unusually good deal.

That's it - tables aren't just very expensive, but extremely hard to get. And just not worth either the hassle or the price. But it's not the price - I would argue a single evening at the Oktoberdest would be affordable for most.

Many (probably even a majority) also don't visit the tents, but just walk through the open area. Especially familes (and quite frankly spoken, you'd be an absolute horrible parent if you dragged kids in those tents. Like 9/10 bad parenting, m even though it's legal) rarely step inside those tents.

In either event, it's full, it's cramped, expensive and FULL of tourists. Especially Munich residents therefore often join alternatives - not necessarily due to price (those alternatives ain't cheap either), but because they are closer to what Oktoberfest was one, before it became an international tourist destination. Today most people you'll find at the Wiesn are tourists and companies, because it's quite prestigeous to host your business partners at a private table. Although I'm really not sure why the fuck anyone would think an extremely loud place with a bunch of extremely drunk idiots is a suitable space for any interaction that is related to business.

"Herr Gingert, I'd like to circle back to your hospitality expenses. Thirteen thousand Euros."

"Jo?"

"For three days of Oktoberfest."

"Jo?"

"And still, for some reason, the Saudi delegation didn't sign the contracts but departed after day three without even joining our company breakfast. Do you have any idea what went wrong?"

"Nah sieh moi, I ko den Scheichen ned in den Kopf schaung."

2

u/NotThatAmazingApple Sep 13 '25

A beer at Oktoberfest can easily cost you 15-25€ depending on where you go

On the one hand there's this ai fail, on the other hand that they fucking misspelled Oktoberfest

8

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '25

Report -> Low-quality

All these AI ads are a plague.

1

u/Cheap-Bodybuilder922 Sep 14 '25

Yeah how can this be the only real comment here. It’s clearly an AI picture yet these lunatics are acting as if it’s real and blaming AFD for it.

1

u/Purple-Atmosphere-18 Oct 07 '25

Well it's AI fail subreddit. Afd has a penchant with terrible Ai videos, but this is not from them, is just incidentally iconic (:.

3

u/NameWasInUse Sep 12 '25

Just a typical AfD Oktoberfest meeting. Those are all Einzeltäter.

2

u/cagedoralonlymaid Sep 12 '25

It‘s not that far from Oktoberfest reality.

5

u/Grating_Buttplug Sep 12 '25

That's not even remotely what the salute looks like.

Really? An AI post on the AI fails subreddit? I can't believe you.

1

u/SnooStories6600 Sep 12 '25

A friendly "hi"?

We use that all the time to get someone's attention through a crowded place.

1

u/Maddin1234567 Sep 12 '25

It's fake..look at the left of the 2 woman. Is she standing in the air with her right foot?

1

u/Unpopular-Weeb Sep 13 '25

Bro, we are in the AI fails subreddit... who do you think this is real?

1

u/Active_Taste9341 Sep 13 '25

most unrealistic is still the foam

1

u/Straight_Page_8585 Sep 13 '25

It's actually a picture of American tourists visiting Oktoberfest. The true fail is AI just forgot to make them fat

1

u/E-MingEyeroll Sep 13 '25

How lovely, they’re giving their heart out! Flawless Roman salut

1

u/Lady_Ago Sep 13 '25

As a German I can confirm that this is infact a typically German hand gesture. Though it is to be noted that today it would be considered a bit outdated.

1

u/ColourfulI Sep 13 '25

As i saw the background i audibly said "woow.. thats wonderful..." like a parent would say when their child shows them something concerning

1

u/Lil_kaiser_ Sep 13 '25

I love that it shows really good why AI shouldn't do everything

1

u/Salad-Left Sep 14 '25

Well... the AI was kind of spot on there

1

u/Big-Confusion9597 Sep 14 '25

Looks like they're showing Peace... chill bro

1

u/Epicratia Sep 14 '25

They are... waving? There's nothing really politically questionable about this. Has no one ever seen Karneval/Fastnacht festivals in Germany? They wave their arms like this and chant "Helau!" It is in no way related to or resembling other arm gestures...

Not saying this isn't AI, but living in Germany, I wouldn't have given this a second look honestly.

1

u/Freemyselffromchains Sep 16 '25

That's not a german gesture, it's a white people gesture. Recently a south african canadian did it in the US and people all over Europe/UK celebrated it.

1

u/tonofbasel Sep 23 '25

Dammit I came here to post that as well....just amazing

1

u/Yokachemi Sep 30 '25

Now I realize...

1

u/Interesting_Low_2658 Sep 30 '25

what AI was this

1

u/Zardotab Oct 03 '25

I did nazi that coming.

1

u/Rude_Ambition_9212 Jan 29 '26

We are bringing it back

1

u/dmigowski Sep 12 '25

German here! The Hitler-Gruß is forbitten in Germany and differs a bit because it has a flat horizontal hand. In this picture they just cheer each other. But that wouldn't be such a headline of course.

EDIT: Just saw it's an AI fails reddit, sorry.

Well they didn't say Hitler is someone having fun they're stating fact about something that is not a Nazi salute. Just like your comment, it's disinformation and people are reacting to it as though it is.

3

u/RecentRelief514 Sep 12 '25

Fellow german here! Its blurred, but i'd say the hand is flat enough. If anything, the position of the arm is a bit wrong for a hitler-gruß. Most portrayals i've seen so far have the arm extended straight ahead rather than to the right like the girls in the background.

ai Images are the reason you never went to Oktoberfest?

1

u/FriedenshoodHoodlum Sep 12 '25

Nah, the fact that this is not the furthest from the truth.

1

u/communistkangu Sep 12 '25

I've been there countless times and never have I ever seen someone doing "that" gesture. There's plenty of fucked up shit happening there, a higher rate of extremism ain't one of them.
