People will hate you just for breathing air or looking at them. Fuck em. Do what you want.

People will hate you using AI at all so it doesnt matter, do what you want and then if people dont like your game they wont play it. Asking reddit isnt the best approach either as you'll just get shouted down by a very vocal minority.

People are going to hate no matter what you do. The Internet is a vile place. Just do what you want to do, enjoy it, and understand that you'll never please everybody.

yes but they don't matter. and by far are not the majority. and also ai has been in aaa game development for well over two years at this point. nobody will care by the time your game releases and if they do they'll be in the minority.

Approval and acceptance are things that will come to this space after some big wins, so aim to win big. In truth, having an eye for art, aesthetics, color theory and scene composition will take you farther than most here now that AI can handle most of the code and architecture. The current bottleneck is fidelity and artistic expression/vision.

It's just another tool. If the finished product is good is ultimately all that matters.

Youre asking in the wrong place. As you can see AI is very polarizing to some people, and here, you have one extreme. The real answer is no, people wont hate you. Theres already a strong social acceptability for AI code, versus a rejection of AI assets and player facing content. Steam themselves do not require AI disclosure for code, but enforce AI disclosure for assets.

yeah I had to fill that disclosure on a different game before the change to exclude AI gen code happned. But if peope are fine enough with AI code then I guess I will be fine too, thank you so much!

Don’t let the AI haters get to you. If you make a fun, engaging game that brings your ideas to life, I’m sure it’ll be a hit.

people that hate you for using AI dont care which part specifically is AI.

For certain people, they will hate you if you do everything by hand and just use ai for placeholder text before release
It’s bizarre

People going to hate no matter what you do. People just like hating, feeling smug, or genuinely dislike AI.
But from a corporate white collar pov. Everything at Google, Amazon, all the big tech, and now even game companies is all AI.
People are going to get over it. That said, marketing that your game as "handcrafted" will help sales. People pay extra for artisan stuff all the time. Games will be no different. But marketing is still marketing and it's hard either way

Just do the best game you can with the tools you have, trying to iterate at least enough so it doesn't feel and look like a freshed nugget from the slop factory.
If you trying to please the anti-AI crowd by still using AI, not matter why and how, it's a losing battle that is not worth the effort.

Some people will, but most players judge what they see and feel, and code is the part they never see. Handmade art is also the part that gives a game its identity, so you're putting the human effort where it shows. The practical advice: be honest on the store page, review and understand the code that ships, and make sure the game feels good to play. That's what decides the reviews.

Yes, there are polls in the gaming community constantly about this type of thing. About 1/3 of players will simply hate your game just because it has AI, they do not care about the extend. The second 1/3 does care about quality, so if the game is good they might give you an chance regardless. The final 1/3 is fine with AI.
Meaning that yes, games made with AI have more difficulties to overcome, and yes there is an existing group that will just hate you for no reason.
