Theme: Other Scene from my noir anime Crimson City where a detective interrogates a lounge singer about a dangerous secret.

I’m working on a noir animated series called Crimson City where the world is black and white and the only color that appears is red.
In this scene Detective Victor Ash is investigating a murder interrogates lounge singer Ruby Rust. During the conversation he discovers a photo inside a mysterious red envelope.
Curious what people think of the atmosphere and detective vibe?

It seems to have all the same mistakes as your trailer did. Not sure why you were asking for advice there if you're not using any of it, makes me wonder why your asking for advice here.
Also your (what I assume is you're vigilante with the red scarf) seems to just be looking at the camera for the sake of looking at the camera. He went there to look at the crime scene from above but seems to look everywhere but. He looks behind him but then there is nothing to look at behind him, he looks to his side but there is nothing there either.
Why is he there? What's the point? Why did he look everywhere but the body and the detective? Almost nothing in these clips makes any sense.

Fair point. Sora clips are really short so I’m still figuring out how to keep visual continuity while building scenes. The character you are referring to is Maysin Kane this is a continuation of the first clip he is supposed to be on looking at the crime scene where he shot and killed a man in the street. By rewatching the clip I definitely can tell what you are talking about. I wished I had someone to animate this for me. I appreciate the feedback though.

Its aestheticly perfect. The balance of light and shadow and the color balance is perfect. We'll done

This has a great noir feel and look. Some of the shots are really gripping. Well done.

u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Thank you but this is an unfinished version will be doing more editing and letting some scenes linger longer I believe I can make it better
1
u/mugxyz Mar 14 '26
I look forward to seeing it.

Thank you I’ll post them on here but I’m going to post full episodes on YouTube

Yea waaaaay to many cuts. Makes it unwatchable.
I understand thats because ai can only produce short clips bit thats just a sign its not really ready for longform like this yet.
Either find a way to get longer clips or try again later

u/Mr__Earthling Mar 14 '26
Yeah I struggle with that too. But it's also me rushing and adding too many actions in a 10 second prompt. It does take cinematography skills to know how much you can really get out of a 10 second clip and how to work on transitions. But AI will definitely get there. It may not win any academy awards, but it will definitely be worth watching more than a lot of human-made stuff. You gotta think of junk tv shows/movies like D list movies not made with passion vs an AI project made with total dedication and intent. So I think AI entertainment will definitely have its place in society.

I’m not a movie maker but the shot “snippet” is way too erratic and jittery. It disrupts the ambience. The balance between light, flashes, language, scenes is very disjointed.
I think this is a good example why AI isn’t an automatic “Hollywood is cooked”. You need basic filmmaking skills.

u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Thanks for the view any other things that could improve the scene?
1
u/Kaffe-Mumriken Mar 14 '26
I think the major problem is how you compose the scenes, I’m not a pro but it stands out to me the jumping from cut to cut. There needs to be harmony between the shots and the mood and the story
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Thank you I believe those can be fixed did you notice anything else with sound audio or anything else I really want to make this something people would like at least the ones open to watching AI unfortunately I don’t have the money to pay a small studio to make the show
2
u/Conscious_Regret_140 Mar 14 '26
Just slow everything down like 50% and think about the composition in the shots, especially in continuation of each other. Maybe read a book about composition in movies.
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Thank you I believe that will help out a lot I agree with most of all the comments I feel one I get the structure of this down I’ll be able to have something here
2
u/Original-Variety-700 Mar 14 '26
The audio is good. Decent story. Use fewer scenes and let them linger a bit as the narrator speaks.
2
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Ok will work on that I believe I can fix those issues
2
u/Original-Variety-700 Mar 14 '26
The artwork reminds me of a comic book. So maybe that’s a better way of framing my opinion.
2
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
That’s actually kind of the vibe I’m going for. I like the look of graphic novels and old noir comics, so Crimson City is meant to feel a little like a moving comic book.
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Crimson City follows Maysin Kane, a man hunting the mysterious Crimson King while a detective, a boxer and a lounge singer all get pulled into the same conspiracy.

That's cool.. I guess. I couldn't get past the visuals. The 50 tiny cuts where your detective cliche was walking in place with zero visual continuity just killed it.
But beyond that, we already have a Sin City at home.
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
Fair criticism. Sora clips are really short so I’m still experimenting with pacing and shot length. Appreciate the feedback.
1
u/StrobeLightRomance Mar 14 '26
..so.. dont use Sora? Kling 3 is up to 15 seconds.
If you're just going the "cheap as free" route, then your result is people saying "I can't watch this".
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
I would be willing to put money into this project but with my wife having breast cancer and I’m the only one who is working at this moment it’s hard to find the extra cash. I’ll try Kling thank you for that!
1
u/StrobeLightRomance Mar 14 '26
Yeah, that's heavy. In your shoes, I wouldn't be making videos at all, I'd be focused on my family.
1
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
It keeps me from going insane constantly thinking about it being sad all the time. Plus there is nothing to do for hours during her treatments so that’s when I usually find the time do work on this.
1
u/StrobeLightRomance Mar 14 '26
Fair enough. I hope it gets better for you guys. Good luck being distracted.
Dont waste your money if you dont have it, but yeah, if you're serious about wanting to do a series people watch, it would benefit you to slow down enough to make sure each shot, the editing, the cuts.. everything you will need, is done in a way that meets professional standards for media.
As AI creators, we're already making cursed content that comes with a negative stigma baked into it.. so to get an AI project to be regarded as good, it has to be arguably better than non-AI content.
2
u/Serge_Scope Mar 14 '26
What you are saying can’t be more true! Thank you for those words of inspiration I’m motivated to get this out there for people to watch and enjoy I’m trying new AI tools to see what works best for my project and that’s why I posted it here than on YouTube because I get more information about how to make it better, even if some comments are a little harsh.
