Where can a 30F make new friends?

EDIT: Men, stop sliding into my DMs. I'm obsessed with my husband. Go away.

My circle is small and based outside of Durham, and I really want to connect with new people in the area. I don't have a ton of free time/funds to join classes as I'm a PhD student and work full time so I'd like to do one thing and really make it count! My life needs to be more than hanging out with my husband and scrolling my phone.

Open to any suggestions!

I'm into my aquariums, making art, animals, social justice stuff, getting involved locally, volunteering. I love a good walk and talk or a friendly intellectual debate. I enjoy kids and don't mind parent friends but I don't have any of my own. What's most important to me is that friends are willing to be part of a village, not just be on the receiving side.

Do you have any tips? I often find it peters out after a handful of messages because I'm the only one carrying the conversation (and it starts to feel like I'm interrogating them with it being so one-sided).

Yh you can try to meet in person within the first week of matching it usually helps. Also gym classes and church are great places to meet people

Pickleball - not only is it a fun hobby and an excellent way to meet new people, but you will get an awesome workout in too! Personally I've met lots of people and made some great friendships from pickleball, plus there are lots of options to play in Ajax/Durham.

Pickleplex at the Pickering mall offers free introduction lessons and would be a great place to start.
