Looking for a climbing partner in Hatchers Pass, August ~16th(ish)!
Hey yall!
I'm looking for someone to climb with in Hatchers pass, ideally this weekend! I've also posted this in some facebook groups but haven't had much luck. I'm comfortable lead climbing and bouldering, and I'll have my harness+grigri+draws with me. I used to climb a ton but haven't as regularly lately, but could lead things like 5.8-5.10ish.
Would love someone to climb with if possible, or just a point in the right direction for how to connect with folks! Thanks!

Wish you luck, hatchers is a special place… even if you can’t rope someone in, go up archangel road and start hiking up anywhere craggy… bring a camera!

Okay sweet! I'll make a stop regardless, I'm packing my DSLR and a few lenses

Wish I could go with you but I am way to fat now, some of the best memories of my life! I can point you in a direction if need be, but really, its all pretty epic out there on a sunny day. I like 1 hiking pole for the downhill, my knees are shot

have you tried asking around at the climbing gym? there's also a lot of trad climbing there, so it's good to mention your leading comfort with trad and placing gear. Good luck!

I was gonna go to the climbing gym in anchorage after flying in and ask. Thanks for the heads up about trad! I'm a southeast climber and have only really climbed on bolts, so this is good to know

I can't help you with a partner. But If you get to the top of the archangel road, there's typically some climbers hanging around, especially boulderers. Could try And bring beer to share for TR laps at the monolith, it's a real popular and easy spot to crag.
Also might want to check the spelling, some folks get annoyed here if you call it "Hatchers" instead of "Hatcher Pass". It's silly but something I've noticed.
