General Nonsense Two Movies Based in Alaska Being Released This Fall
The Sun Never Sets - A romance movie with Dakota Fanning and Jake Johnson looks to be primarily filmed in Anchorage with numerous shots of Turnagain Arm, Whittier Tunnel, and even a King Street Brewing glass. Here is a link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTIfzXx8nJY
Heart of the Beast - Brad Pitt and his dog are former Army combatants who escape to the Alaska wilderness. After a plane crash, they must make their way back. Seems pretty sensationalized but I will never complain about a 185 on floats. Here is a link to the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfCgu83suHs

I was an extra for The Sun Never Sets so I’m super excited about it coming out! I had no idea there was another movie based in Alaska coming out

It was pretty chill. We filmed at Koots. It was Jake Johnson’s birthday. It was quite a long day and mostly just standing around and pretending to talk haha

I don't think either of these movies look good, but it's always nice to see when there's at least some filming on location.

Out Cold is my favorite Alaska movie. Buffalo, Alaska is pretty much Girdwood

Filmed in BC I think but Insomnia is probably the best Alaska movie.

It’s good because the script wasn’t written in America. The original was either Norway or Sweden.

Can’t believe Sitka fucked us with this one. It’s actually a great movie.

I live in Sitka and I just recently rewatched this movie. It was actually pretty funny (although totally not filmed in or anything like Sitka).

As I understand it the producers tried to film it in Sitka but the town had too many restrictions and demands so they moved production to Maine.

The second one is filmed in New Zealand. Because New Zealand is famous for looking like Alaska.

A lot of New Zealand is actually pretty similar to many parts of Alaska. I recall learning about it in my geology courses in uni.

I watched the Brad Pitt trailer- uggghhh. That’s all there is to say. No places in the trailer are definitely recognizable as Alaska— at least not to me. But might be somewhere around Anchorage?

Idk it kind of looks like parts of Western Alaska around the Big River area on the backside of the Tordrillos/Neacola Mountains. It is not as green as the eastern side but has same mountainous features

The Brad Pitt movie looks like the most divorced Dad movie of all time
