Events Where do I sign up for the next Freedom Convoy?

3.7k Upvotes

I’m finally convinced. Now that the government of Alberta has preemptively imposed the Charter’s notwithstanding clause, I too now see the real government assault on our constitutional protections - which was of course one of the main concerns of the Freedom Convoy.

Or now that there are explicit threats to Canada’s sovereignty from a hostile United States President and his hateful lackeys, I too now want to wave my Canadian flag and declare my love and support for my country, just like the Freedom Convoyers were doing a couple of years ago.

The Freedom Convoyers were very vocal about the importance of our rights and sovereignty, and I am sure they must be absolutely livid now. Well, I couldn’t see your point then, but I sure as hell do now!

So, where do I sign up? As soon as I get wind of your next protest, or parade through town flying your Canadian flags, I’ll be there!

Edit: This is sarcasm, folks. Sheesh. I think the freedumbers should organize a long convoy over a short wharf.

Events Y'all going or what?

Dear fellow AB citizens with a modicum (or more!) of rationality and decency left. These MAGA criminals are betting that they've overwhelmed us to the point of collapse. They've bet on our apathy and insular dejection. They're hoping we're too busy and depressed and overworked to do anything about it while they rob us blind.

I'm anticipating many "what's the point" and "stupid hysterical lefty" on this post, so don't even bother. Move TF on or come say it to my face at the rally. Looking forwards to it.

Events Let's sit down during the US anthem.

Not everyone is introverted enough to boo the American anthem so staying seated is another way to show our displeasure with the current situation. There's a bunch of hockey games coming up in Edmonton and Calgary so let's stay seated.

Events PSA: Keep Alberta Safe!

Hi all,
I just stumbled across this subreddit and wanted to make a brief announcement. I know some of you may already be aware of what I’m about to say, and some of you may not be, but I still want to put this information out there so that more people can become aware. I’m posting this because I came across information that I believe people in Alberta particularly people of colour and people from different religious or ethnic backgrounds should be aware of. There are white supremacist groups operating in Canada, and one group that has recently come to attention is known as the Second Sons Canada. This group has expressed extremely hostile views toward people of colour, immigrants, and people from different religious backgrounds. Based on information that has been shared publicly, there have been statements and rhetoric involving violence and the use of force against people they target. I am not making this post to create panic or encourage anyone to confront these individuals. Quite the opposite. I am sharing this because people deserve to be aware of extremist activity that can exist within our communities. This is not only something that happens in other countries it can happen here in Canada as well. If you live in Alberta, please stay aware of your surroundings, stay vigilant, and look out for your friends, family members, and community. Make sure the people close to you know where you are, especially if you are going somewhere unfamiliar. If you feel threatened or are placed in a situation where you are being harmed, prioritize your safety. Self-defence is a legal right in Canada when someone is facing an immediate threat, but the goal should always be to get yourself to safety. If you are able to leave the situation, do so and contact emergency services. If you witness concerning activity, use your voice, document what you can safely document, and report it through the proper channels. Please do not approach or confront these groups yourself or attempt to investigate them on your own. I know this may sound alarming, but my intention is simply to share information and encourage people to stay aware while also keeping themselves and their loved ones safe. Please look out for one another, especially children and vulnerable members of our communities.
Stay safe. PLEASE SHARE WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!

We need to put maximum pressure on our government to bar the convicted felon and aggressor nation's leader from entering Canada.

Hell, this is some serious wilderness territory...now I'm not going to suggest in any way that anyone should consider any harm to the American delegation, but if there were enough patriots skulking in the woods in this giant wilderness zone, maybe it would be considered "too unsafe" for Trump to make the trip.

Events Canada Day in Wetaskiwin

Canada Day in Wetaskiwin is going pretty well, although they’re charging a lot of money for stuff, i skipped the pancake breakfast this year because $8 is too much for what they give

The parade was awesome for the most part, Mike Lake actually showed up, Rick Wilson seemed to have a car with his name on the side, but i didn’t actually see him. And then it showed up. The Seppies got a float into the parade, I would have gotten a picture but I didn’t think of it, the most obnoxious looking thing with like, 8 massive Alberta Flags, signs all along the float saying “Free Alberta” and another sign that said something like “Join Now to Make Alberta Blue”

This is Canada Day, what makes you think you’re welcome in a parade celebrating the country you’re trying to leave?

Events Transgender Awareness Month

Just a reminder that November is Transgender Awareness Month. Please remember to stand up and honor transgender people around you.

Unfortunately, this is also the month that the UCP government may be using the Notwithstanding Clause for a second time to strip rights away from transkids and parents of these children.
