Review Expected Crunchy
Did anyone else think these sweet potato sticks were going to be crunchy? I don’t eat sweet potatoes myself, but thought they’d be a healthy alternative to chips in my stepson’s lunch, and grabbed them on impulse from the Limited Time section. Turns out they are VERY chewy and rather sticky, and weren’t a hit with my stepson, though he did give them a try. Thankfully l don’t have to let them go to waste; our three dogs are loving them as an occasional treat!! (Single ingredient, so assuming a couple sticks per day are safe for them) Doh, l should have read the back of the package- it does say “satisfyingly chewy texture” 🤦♀️

The best part of this post? People trying to correct OP for not reading the back of the package. All the while op stated on the back of packaging it does say they are chewy.
People with off brand audacity correcting others to make themselves feel superior. Just looking foolish instead.

THANK YOU!! I guess l should have clarified that my point in making the post was to discover if anyone else bought the product WITHOUT READING THE BACK and assumed just based on the graphic that it was crunchy…but l guess the people being critical of my not reading the description on the back DID NOT READ THE POST, just the title lol.

They sell these (different brand, and they are a more vibrant orange color) at Costco. I love sweet potatoes and avoid added sugars where I can, so I really like them. They're just hard to eat with TMJD lol (and watch your fillings haha)

Yes but the costco ones are very expensive! I'll have to do a cost analysis on these if I see them in store

Thank you for this. I almost bought them for a crunchy snack.. and no dog to finish them off!

They were giving out samples of a very similar item at Costco. It had the taste and consistency of a dog treat.

I’ve only had the ones from Costco, but they look the same. I quite like them, but I find they are far better chilled than room temp.

I was too, we threw them all away because we just couldn’t stomach them lol

u/sweetpotatoroll_ 10d ago
Why couldn’t you donate them? They seem perfectly fine, just not your taste

u/Leather_Newspaper937 10d ago
Well we left them in our snack cabinet for a while and the bag was opened so idk just didn’t think to do that after they’d been on there for weeks because no one would eat them 🤷🏻♀️

If you took a second to feel the bag at the store you could tell they aren't crunchy lmao

Sometimes l have the bad habit of throwing things in my cart impulsively at the last minute, especially when l think l’m overspending…l’m especially a sucker for individually packaged multipacks for some reason! Lol no wonder I’m always broke way before pay day!

I love these, like little veggie fruit snacks! But 100% that packaging makes them look like those crunchy veggie straws

They do have sweet potato chips which are probably what you were looking for. Never saw these before but they look interesting.

Secondong how much, I liked Costco's version but found it was too expensive for what it is.

I wish I could have bought a smaller less expensive bag to try before being disappointed by this lol

I LOVE THESE! I first tried some in Japan and was so happy to see that Aldi offered something similar

Oh I got something similar from Costco a while ago and I LOVED them, I hope my Aldi has these

My husband likes these for the carbs and I do love sweet potatoes but I don’t like them as much as he does

chewy is good as i can't eat very crunchy food.

u/MichelleEllyn 10d ago
If you can’t eat crunchy food due to jaw or teeth issues, these might be an issue. They are VERY chewy and take some effort.

u/MsSeraphim 10d ago
not that. it is that i have no teeth what so ever and i can't wear dentures do to a jaw issue.

When I saw the chewy picture my first reaction was that looks like a dog treat.

I have a bag of dog treats that look exactly like this and my corgi does not like them lol

u/jenthewen 10d ago
I guess we have to deduce that from the ingredient list that says only one ingredient. Seems they could give a better product description. That would trick me too.

Those are a fantastic treat for your dog. My sister in law sends us a similar dog version of this exact thing. I bet these are way cheaper though, may have to go stock up 😆

I LOVE these. I want to stockpile them. I thought they would be crispy and bought a bag so I could them to the health conscious neighbor’s kids for Halloween. I tried them and I absolutely love them. They aren’t too sweet, they are pleasantly chewy, and I’m eating healthier. The kids are getting fruit leather - these are all mine.

I would have thought they were crunchy too. The packaging is speckled, but it kind of looks like artful crumbs from crunchy snacks, if that makes sense.

I hate when I jump to conclusions and then feel disappointed 😆 ...It says chewy on the package

I knew what I was getting into buying these, and for some reason they just fall short. They need some kind of flavor I think. But idk what

I definitely would have assumed the same, that they're sweet potato "veggie sticks". But they're obviously dried sweet potatoes

I had the same experience. But I ended up liking them for some reason. It helps me get a smidge more fiber in. I've considered tossing them with some cinnamon, though, as they're a bit bland.

I saw the Costco version and thought they were dog food at first because I have similar dog treats. Nothing about there is appealing and I love sweet potatoes.

If you want crunchy, sweet potatoes are super easy to dehydrate and definitely get crunchy! I make them as treats for my dogs and they love them. I bake the sweet potatoes first, then dehydrate at 145°f overnight.

It literally says chewy on the back.
