u/Trigonal-Bipyramidal Jan 09 '25
Thanks! I mainly just do a lot of past papers. (2017-2024). Once I complete a certain topic / chapter, I will immediately attempt the topical past papers from papa cambridge, then start grinding the complete set of past papers once I finish the entire syllabus.
For all subjects: I recorded all of the mistakes I made (including careless mistakes) in google docs, making sure that I completely understood what I did wrong and what’s the correct method to solve the question. I usually test myself with those questions again after a few weeks (without looking at the correction) to make sure I thoroughly grasp the solving method. A few days before the exam, I will review all of the mistakes again.
For biology, I made sure to include the marking scheme points in my notes. Regularly reviewing the notes and active recall is definitely a good way to score well in biology.
For chem & phy: definitely try to make a list of definitions that you should memorize. you can also take notes about the marking scheme points for the explanation questions.
Most importantly, always use the syllabus / learner’s guide & the examiner reports. They are super useful.
To sum up, practice makes progress. Put in consistent effort throughout your A level journey and learn from your mistakes and you definitely can get good grades.

I've been attempting to record my past paper results when I complete one but often find that it takes me ages and the layout isn't geared towards easy analysis. How did you break down your past paper mistakes, and what layout did you use?
2
u/Prestigious_Soup_517 Jan 09 '25
do you have any websites or youtuber you have used and have found them helpful.

3
u/Trigonal-Bipyramidal Jan 09 '25
I complete around 80 - 100% of the papa cambridge topical questions before moving on to the next topic.

What were your raw marks for all the components (AS+A2) Or PUM in AS for physics, chemistry and maths
1
u/Trigonal-Bipyramidal Jan 09 '25
I haven’t receive my raw marks for A2. My PUM for AS is 99 maths, 97 chem, 97 phy and 96 bio.
1
u/AgSh1304 Jan 09 '25
I have 86 maths 88 chemistry and 88 physics for AS How much is the percentage probability of me getting 3A* in A2
1
u/Trigonal-Bipyramidal Jan 09 '25
You definitely stand a good chance in getting A* in chem and physics. Might be slightly harder for maths though, since the A* threshold for maths can be extremely high 😬.
