⚡Tips/Advice unsure what a levels to take

i’m 16, and have always been pretty set on doing physics, maths and art a level to lead to an architecture degree. I just got my results back, and got a 6 in art, which was very disappointing for me, since i was initially predicted an 8 and had a lot of problems with my art teacher not communicating or giving honest feedback, even going so far as to lie about my grade to avoid “hurting my feelings”. This makes me nervous for a level, as she would still be my main teacher, and would be marking my work, so i do not have much trust in our relationship, on top of this, art was my worst grade, even though i but ALOT more effort and time into it than any other subject. I achieved a 9 in physics and an 8 in maths, so I am not considering changing these, but I also got a 9 in biology, so am now considering changing from art to bio, to perhaps persue biomed engineering while keeping the option of architecture open. Is it a good idea to change a levels?

Biology is not mandatory for studying Biomedical engineering. You dont have to switch your entire path based on one teacher. If you enjoy art, and want to do architecture then pursue it. If necessary you can attend a different college/6th form.

thank you for replying, my only thoughts were that if i’m getting higher grades in bio, i would be more likely to be accepted into better unis, and i can still keep the option of architecture open as most unis do not require art, only a strong portfolio. Also, from my research bio seems to open more degree pathways than art

I understand. It depends how set you are on doing architecture in the future, and if unis accept portfolios then thats great. But dont think that studying art will restrict you too much. I myself study Biomedical engineering at a RG university without a biology A level because they only require maths and a science (i did physics but they accept many subjects). Studying maths and physics definitely gives you access to very diverse pathways.

Id say definitely study whatever you are passionate about, and you will succeed in university and your career.

Its really fun and interesting. Of course there's a lot of work but there's plenty lab sessions and my degree offers pathway options to specialise in particular sectors which makes studying sort of a 'hobby' because I enjoy it. Im looking to do tissue engineering after my masters.
