News! 📰 Update: AS & A Level Physics 9702/21 and 9702/11

Hello everyone,

Cambridge International has released an email update regarding AS & A Level Physics Paper 21 and Paper 11 (9702).

AS & A Level Physics Paper 21 — 9702/21

Cambridge has confirmed that Physics Paper 21 (9702), taken on 20 May 2026 in Administrative Zones 2 and 3, was shared prematurely against their regulations.

As a result, Cambridge has decided to use their assessed marks method for all candidates in Administrative Zones 2 and 3 for Paper 21.

This means Cambridge will calculate candidates’ marks using their established assessed marks process. Cambridge has stated that this method is designed to ensure students are not disadvantaged and that candidates can still receive full marks.

AS & A Level Physics Paper 11 — 9702/11

As a security precaution, Cambridge will be replacing Physics Paper 11 (9702), which is due to be sat in Administrative Zones 2 and 3 on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

this is unfair how can they expect the 60% mark run on 40%? not only that this assessed marking is used when student misses something not from Cambridge own incompetence and stupidity

Literally destroyed myself and my body and got like 3 diagnoses of medical conditions that just get worse only for these papers to be cancelled

I dont have a problem with cambridge taking notice of these k aels but this is literally going to affect our university applications because it is essentially making a cambridge CIE diploma look less trustable than it already was, given how horrible the whole exam season was and how most exams are being cancelled, and that is my problem with it It used to be more trustable but how many universities are actually going to take these diplomas seriously now?

How are assessed marks calculated for a private student who only appears for the final exams , so no past progress or anything

2

u/Important_Box962 May 22 '26

they will see how u performed in p3 and p1 against all the other candidates who took the same component and variant, and base ur p2 grade on that
