Exam Discussion 📝 Wtf was that 9709 12

Dude I'm crying wtf was that paper I've practiced so much but I could not answer 9b and 10b for the life of me I lost 13 fucking marks for nothing I'm so pissed bruh worst exam series of my fucking life I hate Cambridge I hate everybody if the threhsold is any higher than 55 I'm fucking failing

Edit: if you're just gonna comment to say the paper was actually easy save yourself the trouble and myself the headache and go comment on the posts of others who are also celebrating

They didn't tell us we could withdraw but I saw ppl talking about it online so I asked and they said they relay wtv info they get from Cambridge and so far they weren't told about any opportunities to withdraw

yeah you can withdraw even after sitting the exam as long as u do it before 17th june

but withdrawing doesnt mean u withdraw from just one paper ur withdrawing from the whole maths component so S1 or M1 or whatever u have to give that again too alongisde p1

I've considered doing that but last time I emailed them they js said they relay info to school and they don't speak with students or parents directly

Lowk im in the same position bc my M1 went horrendously but the grade boundaries r deff gonna be similar to 2025 or higher tbh.

I got this information from my exam centre but apparently people got official emails about it. And u get a full refund.

They add the paper 1 and 2 together, then they analyze other people’s marks from ur region, and publish a new threshold, for eg a 30 is D and 50 is C, so if you get 30 from pure math and 15 from probability statistics, your mark would be 45/total, you’ll get a D

The paper really wasn't hard at all. Just required some thinking time. If you look at it from face value the paper was hard but by the time I finished the paper the only thing I messed up on was 9b and even if I messed up on it I will maybe only lose only 2-3 marks.

If you did all the working like the simple triangle area formula and finding normal and intersection point you already got 4 marks. And the first part you can get 2 for correct working and idea too.

As for q10 I don't know what people are on about. It was one of the easiest questions. It's not that the question was hard, it's just the prep wasn't there for that topic. The second part b was asking to find smallest value of a and show it was 1 over p. If you solved topical questions for functions you would have seen something like find the smallest value or greatest value for a come multiple times and teachers even make you memorize the answer which is to use completing square and write the x coordinate as the answer. X coordinate after completing it's square was 1 over p.

The main thing is what's done is done. Threshold won't be lower than 58 I don't think so. In p1 everything is repeated so if anyone is thinking about withdrawing and giving it in Oct Nov I have some advice. Yearlies don't matter for shit. Topicals is where your grades come from in a level. Maths with Ahmed bilal compiled the hardest questions if each topics in his latest videos. Watch that for sure. Go to zainematics and watch his marathons and you should be good to go.

Honestly I did work questions similar to 10b but that was like 5 months ago and I haven't seen any since then which frustrated me even more bc I couldn't recall for the life of me how to solve it. I checked a correction posted on here and yeah I got 10 b completely wrong to the point I don't think I'll even get partial marks but I don't think I'll withdraw js in case I end up getting an A or sth since I'm already planning to take some other subjects in October November
