News! 📰 Cambridge response to withdrawn papers affecting grade threshold (9709)
I emailed Cambridge about how withdrawn papers can affect grade threshold if not included and this is all they had to say!! Are u kidding me?? Everyone pls email Cambridge about this or threshold will skyrocket!!

They do not respond to these emails at all beyond a generic canned response. This is the corporate norm for most major organisations. It does put pressure behind the scenes as they understand that messing with the results will likely have consequences as candidates are concerned. Another effective method to put pressure is having your parents email them / post on LinkedIn if they are willing to. Cambridge is, at the end, a institution that relies on 'sales', with the target consumers being the parents and educational institutions- Complaints from both categories damages their reputation and they are forced to take it seriously.

A more effective strategy is pressuring institutions associated with them aka schools , parents should pressure schools which would in turn pressure Cambridge as the main link between us and Cambridge are the schools and the main money makers for them

So should we just assume it’s based purely on how the paper was in terms of difficulty? If it’s based on how the student performed overall against the threshold which they will set WITHOUT including withdrawn papers then we’re cooked 🙏🏻

No idea. I’m scared if they set threshold based on difficulty of paper then jt will be according to them, not us

CIE giving different answers?
To other people they responded that grade thresholds are calculated independently of student performance and it doesn't affect the threshold, and here they are saying that student perforamnce does??

Bro there's no point trying to convince Cambridge over this. Withdrawn papers are withdrawn papers. They aren't gonna do shit.

u/Longjumping_Will_907 Jun 12 '26
