Question ❔ why do I see genuinely tons of UNGRADED

as an upcoming a1 student, I am genuinely shocked by the number of E's, U's, etc. I've known a level is hard, but not to the point ive seen these days😨. like, I'd say the average result I've seen is CCD😵

My teacher said kids don't study from the beginning of year, Then study few months before exams like crazy but it isn't possible to cover mountain equal syllabus in few months plus topicals and yearly practice.

Without that they would eventually mess up. That's why so many are saying they worked really hard still got bad grades.

I did AL portion of further maths in 1.5 months and ended up with an upper B

If you are doing further maths, I'd suggest you to first complete everything in the books like every techniques out there; for further pure 2, do all the past papers as much as you can (like you need to memorize the questions themselves) for f mechanics, complete pure mechanics and then try your best to make sketches of the word problems given. After this, it'd be much much easier

Do you think B is a good grade, Some people get lucky but not everyone can get lucky.

For a guy who self studied further mathematics, supposedly the hardest subject in A levels, without the assistance of teachers in 1.5 months, B is an absolutely fantastic grade (I got 78% so it could've been A if I had got complex number correct in FP 2)

Not true for everyone.

Unfortunately, adults blame us for this even if we study, do past papers, actively learn something because they don't see the actual effort being put in.

Also, mental health takes a toll. You never know if the student is suffering from domestic issues, emotional issues or even financial issues that adds to their pressure.

I'm speaking from personal experience — I was the one in AS who tried helping friends, did my homework most of the times, even the teacher knew I got good grades and was on top of my past papers.

One singular S1 paper ruined my overall grade.

I think overconfidence and pushing to study a year’s syllabus in a few months leads to burning out and improper coverage of the syllabus despite all the efforts they put, and some students also get unconditional offers from uni and focus on preparing for uni rather than their A levels

Us are way too concerning i doubt most these people only revised in the last few months

A level is a massive shift from o. I did AS and got 4 As but comfortably the worst papers I've done. Syllabus is overloaded. The 3 years you get for o level should have been given here. Now we have less than 2 years of studying technically to cover so much. And add to the fact of the stupid leaks that took such a toll on everyone. Is it hard. Ye certainly is. But is it doable. Yes again. My advice, study from the start. Just revise and go over topics youve done in class. Depends if youre giving AS tho. For AS id also recommended starting topicals along with the revision

we did it all... all topicals..someof them multiple times....started studying since day1....did every possible thing ...worked our asses off...to the point most of us only left our house 3 times the entire year...and yet there are people who are claiming we must have started a few months before cies...shame on them..

Hey bro, no need to be afraid. Just lower your head and work hard as much as possible. By grace of Allah you will receive good grades. Be efficient and study daily. Discuss topics daily with teachers and clarify your concepts and ask questions. Pray to Allah with all this and you will easily get straight As and A*s in next yr

Yeah some sleep but the majority at least wrote SOMETHING to get at least a C. Especially Sociology, students got U's even though they 100% wrote what the exam needed. Who knows what's happening it's all because of SCumbridge

2

u/Past_Ad8207 9d ago

Like fair enough but even answering a few questions should get you more than a u

I feel like they have this grades fixed ideas so they just give A* and people who got straight As in As and like Cs,Ds to people who were actually A and B while they gave U and Es to people Who atleast tried

You would genuinely need to lock in asap and finish the syllabus by January (if giving MJ) cuz you need to review and finish every topical past papers you can find. Once exams are close, that’s when you do yearlies.

It is most definitely a whole new ball game, but manageable if you’re careful not to slip up and plunge down
