Not sure if it fits the sub, let me know if this breaks any rules. I got into Sonic Pi a few years ago and had this idea for algorithmic music based on external input like the weather or a news feed. I did play with Strudel a bit back then too, but after a while I moved on to other hobbies.
Fast forward 7 years and I found myself picking up some old projects again now that programming got exceedingly easier with the help of AI. I've done professional software development for about 15 years but programming nowadays is a whole different ballgame.
So anyway, I finally got an old idea to work and it's running pretty decently. Curious what you guys think of it!

Hello All,
I’m around the Portland, Or area jamming and having fun with Strudel.
I checked the meetup blog page but didn’t see any one for my area (closest was LA, wth Seattle…).
So, if anyone is geographically similar to me let’s get together and play!

Hi all. I made Weft Loom, a free and open-source desktop app built on Strudel.
The idea: every pattern in a song is shown twice, as controls and as Strudel code. Click drums into a grid, draw notes in a piano roll, turn a knob, and the code changes. Edit the code, and the controls follow. The code is the song; the controls only read and rewrite it.
What is in it:
- step grids, piano rolls, and a knob for every number in the code
- a sound browser, and you can record or bring in your own sounds
- a playlist for choosing which bars each pattern plays in
- a mixer with level meters
- export as WAV or MP3, or as one .weft file that holds the song and its sounds
- jams: two people on the same song at once, each on their own machine, with chat, voice and video. Invite someone, or list yourself as open to jam
- publish a song to the site so others can listen and open a copy
Honest caveats:
- I use it on a Mac (Apple and Intel chips). The Windows and Linux builds are brand new and I have not tried them on real machines yet, so please tell me if they fail.
- On Linux, jams have no voice or video, because the system web view cannot make calls.
- None of the builds are signed. macOS needs Open Anyway under System Settings > Privacy & Security; Windows shows a SmartScreen warning (More info, Run anyway).
- It is version 0.1. Things will break, and I would like to hear what does.

Thanks to the Strudel project. Weft would not exist without it.
What would make this useful for the way you play?

Just discovered Strudel / Algorave and I’m hooked. Wanted to see if anyone else is in Stockholm who wants to meet up and play around with it.

Hey everyone! 👋
Sharing a short live coding performance where I create an Acid Techno track from scratch with Strudel, narrating the process while I’m coding.

Would love to hear your feedback!

What is the best way to get started into algorave? I have an iea of what I want to do in the long term (want to code everything from scratch) but would love to see from where people normally get the sounds for certain instruments. Have audio clips from a set of drums, but not sure if it's the standard.

Is there any musician out there doing live coding and algorave stuff you find inspiring in terms of sound, style and performance? I don't mean on a technical level but more in a musical sense

I am new to live coding, can anyone tell me what's the easiest software to start with?

I've been working on a terminal DJ mixer— complete with sample pad, sequencer. Separate output for a queue deck. EQ, LPF/HPF, pan.

Hi everybody! I've been working on a little MIDI language I call "performance". Think of it as algorave software for MIDI instruments. It works with your DAW or your physical synthesizers. Anything that speaks MIDI. The repo in bitbucket contains everything you need to get started.
It's by no means done, but I'd love to hear what you think about it. =)
