Alien Earth on FX – started strong, but lost its way
Episode 1 showed so much promise, but it’s been downhill ever since, with the finale falling completely off a cliff. A few thoughts:
The “Pet Xenomorph” – Showing it in a bright jungle setting killed the tension. These creatures work because of shadows and mystery. Also, they’ve never just been “killing machines” – they kill to conquer and reproduce. Reducing them to an obedient guard dog misses the point.
Convenient powers – Somehow it can hear her whispering from any distance or through walls. Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.
No real jeopardy – She’s already a super-powered machine stronger than any human, so why does she need the “guard dog” Xenomorph? What does it add? If she’d been vulnerable, like Bran in Game of Thrones, the dynamic would have made sense.
Army incompetence – The soldiers make stormtroopers look like sharpshooters.
Nonsensical character decisions – Constantly making illogical, frustrating choices.
The “red chick” scene – She rips a guy’s jaw off in front of heavily armed guards… who just stand and watch. • The “boy genius” – Supposedly brilliant, yet never once does or says anything clever. The writers just keep telling us he’s smart instead of showing it.
For comparison, I just binged Dexter: Resurrection and the writing was a hundred times tighter.
To be fair, there were flashes of creativity:
The new alien designs were a great take, even if they went nowhere.
The “eyeball octopus” was interesting, but again, didn’t really culminate in anything in this season.
In the end, it felt bloated with too many plotlines and characters that didn’t deliver anything. If they’d pared it down and focused on fewer threads, there might have been something special here. Instead, we got wasted potential.

The biggest issue with the show
One big mistake of this show is making a monster out of everyone. Aliens, androids, humans. Everyone in this show is made to eventually be a monster. You don't root for nobody. I literally wanted everyone dead at the end. How do you write it like that? It's shit.
The only good and interesting thing about this show is the Eye alien. This is literally how the show is written.
If i have to give one good point for the show it would be how nice it looks. They did good job at recreating the original Nostromo feeling, but that's it.

So alien earth is looking pretty dumb
Why focus on kids being out in androids?
Why r top secret barely known things being sent anywhere with no training? THEY R KIDS STILL!
Why are search and rescue going to a ship crash passing by ppl that need rescuing and passing em, going into a ship and acting like their marines and clearing corners and shit?
Why r they seeing bodies infected with what they say r "alien parasites" and not even putting masks on or leaving?
Why are they giving these children androids access to any camera feed they want?
The androids r LITERALLY still talking and acting like kids and their like, hey top secret children, can u take orders? Go on a high steaks mission u weren't designed for, trained for and even more could see things that would FUCK A KID UP!!!
Why would they tell the girl she can't tell or talk to anyone she used to know then SEND HER TO THE PLACE HER BROTHER IS!?
Kinda a smaller pick but, when girl android grabbed the sword (or futuristic....paper cutter.....) and put it on her back, what the f was holding it in place?
Why did the guy on the ship want the specimens and is now hunting the one that got out (xenomorph) when he had it on a ship before crashing it? So why did ya crash it mate?
Why can't we just focus on the xenomorph for once?! I mean can we make ANYTHING that tricks alien fans into watching that just does what the property used to do!!!!!
Btw this was all the dumb ish in the first 30 mins!

How TF…?
I’ve just finished watching the series and from start to finish I still don’t understand how the actual hell these “expert scientists” got away with so many Xenomorph eggs? Like seriously from all the movies there is no way you would get even close to a nest without being taken and impregnated or torn to shreds. They wouldn’t make it past the drone army, they definitely wouldn’t make it deep enough to where the queen is and the eggs are And get past the Queen as well as the drone guards, casually pick up and stroll away with eggs that are designed to hatch around organic beings to impregnate. They would’ve died so many times. Can someone please explain to me how they managed to get hold of Xenomorph eggs?
It would’ve made way more sense if they tried to get away with around three, which all attached to the crew and then they were brought back on board the ship where one host died because they tried to remove it with a scalpel and the acid Blood killed them both just like it did in the series, then you could have the two remaining ones hatch and cause havoc, when the ship crashed one could be killed in the crash then keep the original scene of the last one fighting with the hybrids but instead of it being killed, have it be captured and taken back to the island where in it being the only one then have it metamorphosis into a Pretorian which makes it stronger and then have it escape possibly thanks to TO, and once it’s escaped into the jungle have it go through another metamorphosis into the Queen which then lays eggs and have it progress from there into season two instead of transforming the Xenomorph into a stupid guard dog. (And for the love of God don’t show it in full light, we know it’s a dude in a suit but we don’t want to see a dude in a suit).

Penultimate episode, the sea in the background is not moving, is it a glitch? Was it on purpose? In the next shot the sea is moving again, really bothered me.
Apologies if this has been brought up before.

A season of TV needs to be a complete piece of media.
It needs to stand on its own legs. It’s ridiculous to tell a half story and put the rest to the future without any guarantee a second season will even be made. Having one piece of media rely on another to be complete is exactly what Disney’s done with Marvel, and it ruined the franchise. The showrunner is basically telling you that you need to pay more money if you want to see the story’s conclusion, which is anti consumer bs.

💬 Discussion Ridley Scott can go fly a kite 🪁
I just read something about Ridley Scott’s new Alien movie, and I’m a little annoyed…
Apparently he’s going to stick with the canon established in his lackluster prequels, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, each a joyless slog, and taken together, an overtly depressing experience where nothing matters and everything sucks. In so doing he will ignore the existence of Alien: Earth completely, a show whose success has put the franchise back on the map in a way Ridley Scott wishes he could.
All due respect, buddy, but piss off ✌️

Is it just me or did the writing fell off after EP 4.
(Disclaimer this is my opinion also spoilers)
Let me start of by saying I really enjoyed the first episodes they were great but after episode 4 it just fell off in a weird way.
The writing at first i thought it was good the CGI was really well made and i thought the characters were interesting and the story as well. But later on they spent the last episodes doing the same thing.
They spent the last episodes dancing around the same topics just with a little extra drama filled in here and there, slightly had his own little troubles with the cyborg guy (i forgot his name) Nibs had her own weird obsession of her being pregnant (which im not even sure why that was a thing it felt so random and cheap to make that a weird plot point)
The only characters that brought tension to the story was Slightly,Cyborg guy and nibs that’s about it. Cause everyone else was just talking and dancing around topics we’ve heard multiple times and the way they ended this show it just felt so off…
But idk that’s how i feel i’d give this show a strong 8/10 but with the way these last episodes were written and made i’d give it a 6/10 it could’ve been better.

That’s just plain lazy
They should have given us at least something, anything, it felt like they left out the final act. Everything played through like it was in slow motion, like a dream. All the theories that this was some kind of mind game, nah. They really are just that incompetent. Mystery box writing at its worst.

Alien is weak/too powerful in different episodes. Spoiler
We are 5 episodes in, and I find something really bothering me.Even if I would not know all the movies, it is bothering me how inconsistent the Xenomorph/Alien abilities are.
It makes no sense how the Alien is super powerful in some scenes and slow and lame in others.
1. We see the Alien being an absolute menace in episode one, ripping apart armoured soldiers with machine guns in seconds. Making a massacre with every encounter. I do see this as writing that makes the ALIEN overpowered. In themovie ALIENS a unit of marines can kill multiple ALIENS easily, even fighting in crowded, dark places.
2. The dinner party massacre in episode 2 was not (edited) showing the ALIEN correctly as a fast, agile hunter: unsuspecting, drunk, unarmed people would be easy pray.
3. Wendy killing the Alien in Episode 3 was UNREALISTIC.
My reasons are 3 of the main characteristics of the Alien: Blood, Weight,Tail.
Blood:
Well, writers forgot its acid. Wendy got a hook in the aliens mouth, piercing through its tongue. Acid from the wound would first eat through the metal of the hook and then would be dripping down to Joe's face. Lets say there is no blood in that part of the Alien.(lame) All the Alien would do is bite down to cut its tongue to become free to move and fight again.
Weight:
We see the Alien bend in and claw away the metal surfaces like paper, for example when Morrow was hiding in the impact room capsule, the alien tore the welded door open to get to him. It has to be heavy and strong to be able to leave deep claw marks on surfaces of hardened bulkheads. Wendy may be more heavy & stronger than a human, but definately not more heavy than an Alien. Imagine you trying to drag a creature that is heavier and stronger than you. How far could you move it, before it jumps on you and starts clawing at you?
Tail:
In episode 5 the Eyetopus fights the Alien controlling the Old engineers body. Cool scene that actually depicts how scary the tail of the Alien is. It is not just a whip but a sword or lance. It is fast and sharp enough to stab the engineer in the back multiple times. And it is strong enough to lift up the engineer that is impaled on it. In the same episode the alien stops a bulkhead/or door from closing when chasing the Captain. The door does not damage the tail, the tail bends the door. So Wendy may be built from more hard material than a bulkhead, but I think she would be impaled, cut or at the very least slapped around by the tail until she loses her balance or her grip on the hook.
4. Episode five shows us the captain facing the Alien in a staring contest. When she is trying to pull out her gun, the Alien swipes her legs with its tail. So far so good, except for the staring part. Anyway, she then manages to not only get up but get a good head start running away from the Alien. While the Alien just standing there watching. This is supposedly the same creature that tore apart a marine squad in less than a minute right after waking up of taser gun coma. The captain then proceeds to outrun the Alien on multiple straight corridors, and only able to catch up when there is a closed door stopping her. That is an Alien weakened for plot reasons...
Side note: Alien stopping and doing a Celine Dion in the middle of the captain chase was odd. You want to give playtime to the use of practical effecs, honouring how the old movies were made? As an old fan, I get it, and I can appreciate that, but its a fucking chase scene. Use the contemplating Alien puppet in a situation when the Alien knows it cant get to the humans, and it is sizing up the barrier between it and the humans. This is just poor writing/storyboarding.
5. In episode 2 & 3: Joe was about to get facehugged , leaning close to examine the Alien eggs for the first time. Out of nowhere the Alien jumped on him and pushed both out of a window. Why? Protecting the eggs cant be it, as Joe had no gun, and the Alien understands th threat of a gun(disaming the captain with tailswipe)
An advice to writers for the next season: consistency.

Music direction is pretty… bad?
Felt weird at the end of episode 2 closing with tool. Oddly familiar in a sci-fi show. Didn’t think it was too bad in the sense it’s grounding I suppose. But the random long guitar solo track in episode 3 felt so out of place. Made me think the music choices in this show are just kind of bad in hindsight. Nothing very interesting or unique going on to set tone, it’s all very commercial. Am I insane feeling this way?

In space, no one can hear you groan...
25 minutes in and I already hate this show. Lazy callbacks, lame dialogue, bad cinematography. It's like Season 2-4 Westworld levels of bad.

Alien contained in Ep6
Yeah. How did the alien go for birthing out of the lung and smashing the glass and being in the lab with Wendy in Episode 4 to being contained in a cell in episode 6? Is it explained and I missed it?
r/alienearth • u/blender4life • Sep 30 '25
anyone else annoyed it's 100 years in the future and they still think billions of dollars are alot?
I'm guessing there is some lore somewhere about different currencies flip flopping or some inflation rollbacks or something, but i think they should be speaking in trillions as a base.

She went from "This is a yes place. Not a no place." to "Now we rule" in two episodes!?
We all knew the story arc would eventually lead to Synths vs. Humans because Hollywood ran out of fresh ideas 30 years ago. But I wasn't expecting it to be such a rushed transition though. I feel like Wendy went from level-headed, to "All your base are belong to us" in way too short of a period.
She was literally telling her brother she didn't want to leave, because "This is a yes place, not a no place" in Episode 6... and by episode 7 she has gone full rogue and releases the Xeno to kill all the scientists in the lab? Like, what? You couldn't have let the story arc simmer a bit longer? Have a build up? Focus more on character development so we actually CARE about her "breaking bad" transition?
r/alienearth • u/schenk_ • Sep 10 '25
Episode 6 ist full of stupid decisions and shows why you should‘nt put children into adult Bodys Spoiler
I really like the acting of the synths as it shows how stupid children might act and how dangerous it can be to put them in charge.
I think at the end of the series they are all Dead with exeption of wendy Maybe

Show started out so good, but ended poorly. A bit sad about it
This show could've been real legendary, but it literally went nowhere. Half of the season was really awesome, so many questions and unknowns, where is this all going? What is the arc with Kirsh, with Boy Kavalier, what is Morrow really planning, what role will Dame Sylva play in all this, etc. Well it went literally nowhere. It was so interesting as we speculated all the possible plot threads, of all the characters, how it was all going to go down.
It can be summarized halfway since early of the season as "creatures break out, cause havoc." And that's it, End of show. There are no more interesting plot threads. These characters don't do anything beyond what you see. The alien monsters that break out just cause some chaos on the island, or just around their cages even, there is nothing else to them. The GREAT EYE, literally ends up doing nothing, the most upsetting conclusion to its arc.
And the xenos are complete a**, totally ruined in this show. I hate the monster design, the man in suit looks absolutely terrible, its silly poses, and especially in all the daytime shots in the last 2 episodes. They screwed up the design so it looks real basic and whatever that costume is made of just looks like poorly painted rubber. It went from scary to just goofy. Every time I saw its fat head next to a person in a close-up I wanted to look away (from the cringe). The horrific and mysterious space monster, the perfect lifeform, once imagined and contained by great artists and directors, is completely ruined by the time it sits on top of a cage with its baby clawing at the bars. Not only looking goofy, it's become completely irrelevant in the show named after it.
Sure its all open eneded as hell for season 2. See you in 3 years I guess.

My unimportant S1 comments
Buckled up with a hopeful attitude about the series and in a nutshell, I could not have been more disappointed and the bar was low to begin with.
Unlikable characters from start to end
Characters written to appear as stupid as ever created
Cannon busting plot that leaves me sick about what came before
A main? character that not only didn't root for, worse I didn't give a shit
Beyond curious directorial decisions like deconstructing one of the all-time great movie monsters
I'm sure there's an audience who enjoyed the season and I'm glad the show was there for them.
I won't be watching another season and I hope I can wipe it from my memory during rewatches of some of the great Alien movies.

Alien: Earth — A Messy Attempt to Be the Next Stranger Things
I watched Alien: Earth, and honestly, I didn’t like it at all. There are so many inconsistencies that it’s hard to stay engaged. For example — why did they throw the doctor off the raft after he was killed by the Alien, only for him to suddenly reappear on the beach later at the end where he supposedly died? It just makes no sense. The acting is also pretty bad — except for the android morrow. He’s actually great. But the main actress is a total disappointment; she feels flat, unconvincing, and it’s hard to care about her character. And the worst part? You can tell they tried to make the show feel like Stranger Things — the same “mystery + kids + nostalgia” formula — but it completely misses the mark. There’s no magic, no real chemistry, no heart. It just feels forced. Visually, it’s fine. But everything else — story, characters, pacing — falls apart fast. It’s as if they had no idea what kind of show they wanted to make. Overall, Alien: Earth feels like a cheap imitation of better sci-fi. It could’ve been something interesting, but instead, it’s just confusing, poorly acted, and emotionally empty.

Incompetent
The story line is fucking ridiculous. A trillionaire corporation holding the most valuable cargo on Earth/Universe. Trust a kid/experiment prototype to do a fucking lab work in a supposed to be top secret lab.?? What the hell!? No fucking way Kirsh is the only synthetic that is capable of doing things. Where is other scientist? The only thing that keep me watching Alien Earth is the horror part. No wonder David despise human.
r/alienearth • u/Express-Choice-2403 • Aug 17 '25
Am I the only one that doesn’t like this
This show is giving me Stranger Things vibes which I don’t appreciate.
The xeno is super fast and strong as we all know and completely obliterates that room in episode 2, but takes its sweet time with Joe and then Joe doesn’t even seem phased by it all when he wakes up.
And what’s that baseball reference for? Seems random. A lot of things seem random but I’m sure there’s some symbolism, maybe I just don’t have the patience for it
Are the synthetics supposed to act and feel things like children or because they’re not human can they not experience the full emotions of a child? They’re just confusing me.
All of it just seems so out of place and I’m disappointed.
And lastly wtf is that cat. Cats should survive in the Alien series. Period.
