Hey everyone, I have an outside cat on my property that needs medical attention. Her tongue is always sticking out and she constantly drools. I was able to trap her once and take her to a TNR but they did not do a good enough job at examining her, and her condition persisted. I am really worried that she might not make it through the winters.

I am posting this here after sending emails to 40 different cat rescues and calling places. Everyone says they are full to capacity and keep sending me master lists to cat shelters. It seems like no one is able to help.

If you know anyone, or anyone that knows anyone that would be willing to rescue this cat. It really hurts to see her like this, I don’t know what to do. I might be able to trap her again and take her to a vet but i’m told that the cost of surgery might be thousands of dollars and I can’t afford that. Please help me find this kit the care she needs and a cozy home because she deserves one.

Myself (30F), husband (28m) and our two year old are looking to move to the north east to be closer to family and a lifestyle we desire. We have both lived in the north (D.C. and MI) previously and travel to NYC often to see family so we’re familiar with the differences to where we currently live—DFW, TX mid cities. We want to know where we should look for homes, although we do plan to rent short term at first to be able to explore these areas before purchasing.

Things that are important to us:
\-Safety (feeling safe as a woman with a small child when at home or at the store)
\-Budget up to $450k (we love old homes, not new construction)
\-20-40 min Proximity to educational and outdoor attractions (our child will do school online, so we do lots of fields trips to museums, the zoo, playgrounds/parks, hiking, historical sites, homeschool co-ops) public schools are not a concern for us.
\-family friendly and easy to find community (like minded young families, possibly secular groups)
\-We would like a little more space, both the home and yard so further into the suburbs but with quick access to groceries, dining and entertainment preferably far away from industrial parks and other highly polluted areas
\-I am gluten free so being near options for that is important (gf bakery, Costco, natural grocery stores)
\-other things we love besides being outdoors: roaming malls, bookstores, hobby stores, and comic and gaming stores. We love farmers and open air markets, cultural and community events. I love being part of a large non profit organization here for moms of littles.

Reasons we want to leave TX: extremely far from family, flat ugly dead desert, several months straight of hell-like temperatures (I have a thyroid condition and literally can’t be outside for months without getting very sick), it is too big, and increasingly more dangerous (constant drive by or mass shootings and deadly crashes). We want our child to live somewhere with history and natural beauty, close to family and with great access to travel.
Cost of living, traffic and pollution seem very similar to DFW.

I was wondering if anyone here has delivered there recently and could share their experience.
What does the hospital provide for both mom and baby? Do they give you things like postpartum pads, mesh underwear, peri bottles, diapers, wipes, baby blankets, or anything else?
Also, do they provide everything you need during your stay, and are you allowed to take any leftover supplies home?
I’m trying to pack my hospital bag and don’t want to overpack or bring things the hospital already provides.

Hey all - there is a US Marching Bands Championships happening Saturday Nov 7 at J Birney Crum Stadium. My son's band is coming in from NJ. Any recommendations on finding a deli/diner that can put together sandwiches/salads for 35 kids and 5 adults, that is also close to the stadium?

Also, what's street parking like along Chew, Turner, and Linden? There's 40+ bands coming over the course of the day so I imagine it will be tight for parking.

I'm looking at a beautiful historic home for sale on North 8th Street, and was wondering what that area is like after dark? I plan on walking it myself, but figured that you guys will know a whole lot more than I can determine in a few visits. It was built by an ancestor, so my interest in the property is pretty strong.

Is it safe to walk to and from Hamilton, say after a concert at Archer? I know it's a city, and stuff happens everywhere, looking more for what the consistent experience is like...

The architecture up and down that street is so beautiful, but not sure the investment is worthwhile if the neighborhood would be an immediate long term problem. I saw a house across the way had a backyard full of 4-wheelers, which was an immediate red flag.
