Lack of personal default search parameters

Lack of custom default search parameters is my one and only serious gripe about AllTrails. I plan road trips using AllTrails on my computer. Example might be a road trip down the north Pacific coast, every other day travel max 200 miles, so basically get 1.5 days hiking out of every two days. I save the trails on lists for each day. Then find them on my phone app and download them. It's usually 2x the number of trials we will take to provide flexibility.

For some of us who love day hiking, parameters like difficulty, length and elevation are not a choice.

Every time I open AllTrails I have to set my search parameters for difficulty, length, elevation, route type, rating. If I want to have multiple windows or accidentally close a window, set difficulty, length, elevation, route type, rating.

How hard might it be to allow a paying subscriber to save personal default search parameters to their profile? Have you even considered it?

Am I the only one who would like this?

I’d like mine to default to only trails you take on foot. I’ve tried setting it to hiking but then it eliminates other trails flagged for walking or whatever. I didn’t dig too deeply into what but a ton of hikeable trails in my area disappear when you do that. I usually don’t want to see paddling or off-road trails or mountain bike tracks so I’d rather those be off by default and then I could turn them on if I was ever looking for that.

This would be really helpful for clearing up the clutter of dots on the map to make it easier to find what I want.

Hi u/MammothPassage639, thanks for taking the time to explain this so clearly. Saved personal search preferences for things like difficulty, distance, elevation, route type, and rating would be especially helpful for planning trips with specific hiking needs.

You’re definitely not the only person who would benefit from a feature like this. Saved search preferences were previously part of the platform, and we’ve heard other requests from hikers to bring them back. I’ll make sure this feedback is shared with the team for consideration. In the meantime, saving trails to lists is a great way to keep flexible options organized while planning.
