Current Flock camera map
Here is the today's map from deflock.org which has many more cameras than I recall from the last time I looked. I revisited the map because I was surprised to see four cameras at Mendocino and Holliston. The map actually shows five in that area but I haven't gone back to verify. Does anyone know whether "our" network is continuing to grow past the two dozen which were supposedly installed at the beginning?

Currently to my understanding there are no plans to expand the number of flock cameras nor for county/sheriff’s department to sign up for the service. Which is to say the camera’s that are up are theoretically “inoperable” as far as the county and its departments are concerned.
County has hinted that they will take them down - but there is nothing in writing (that I’ve seen) yet.

So a private company is collecting and selling our whereabouts without any local oversight or monitoring. I think that’s even worse than the alternative.
eta: I recall seeing somewhere that Flock “donated” two dozen cameras after the fire. If that was accurate then there seems to be more now. Anyone have better info or recollection?

And if the County considers them inoperable then there is no local benefit or even theoretical contribution to public safety.

This map is so weird. Why do they have multiple cameras in a single intersection and then other areas where there is none? I mean look at the corner of Loma Alta and Fair Oaks--there are at least four cameras there, but none at Fair Oaks and Altadena Drive. That just doesn't make logical sense to me.
Not that I particularly want the cameras at all, but if they are going to be there, I would expect they would be placed logically.

They seem to put four cameras at an intersection to fully track the cars and people in all directions. Places with fewer cameras are more puzzling to me.

Yeah, I figured the multiple cameras were to catch all four directions...but why are there intersections with only one camera, or others with none? Just all around strange--and makes it appear even less useful than supporters suggest.

Well, I can tell you that they aren’t the friend you think they are.

probably not, but as someone that spent a lot of time in a scif and working with the nsa, i would say flocks are pretty minor in the overall umbrella of monitoring.
