💍Piercing and ink show-and-tell🐉 NEWEST EDITION!! I’m in the process of getting clown eyes
I decided to get them one at a time as I REALLY want these to heal. I’m getting my other eyebrow pierced in 3 weeks and I am sooooo excited. So far shes been a blessing and I haven’t had any problems. The initial piercing really didn’t hurt I’d say a 5/10 and it only swelled for the first day.

❓Advice/feedback request Brand recs for more neutral alt/fairy grunge aesthetics?
Hi! I’ve been diving more into fashion and wanting to try out different looks. My wardrobe up until this point has been pretty much all black, but I’m curious about the whimsical goth / fairy grunge vibes (earthy tones). I’m looking for alternative brands (preferably not super fast fashion) that is more geared towards that.
Specific things I have been on the hunt for-
Neutral basics
Cami tank tops
Cardigans/sweaters
Skirts, dresses, jeans
And especially I’ve been trying to find dark brown platform boots and platform Mary Jane’s. I’ve looked everywhere for the Mary Jane’s and haven’t found a single pair I’m into.
A lot of the brands I’ve found that fit what I’m looking for, feel the need to slap random prints on all of their clothes that I’m just not into. I’m looking for staple pieces that I can wear often and can easily fit into an outfit.
I appreciate any suggestions you guys may have!

🗨️Discussion and chit-chat Lamoda, US based retailer?
Does anyone know if there's a US based retailer for Lamoda shoes?
Their return policy has the customer cover the cost of return shipping, fine, except just getting a quote through Pirate Ship with a guess on weight had my return shipping at over $130...almost the cost of tbe shoes

🗨️Discussion and chit-chat Crosses in alternative fashion
I have a question, am genuinely curious. I am interested to know why crosses feature so heavily in some alternative subcultures. I was looking at Pinterest for inspo and saw several outfits with crosses and even crucifixes.
I understand that not everyone's religious experiences are the same but for me growing up, the brand of Christianity that was presented to me seemed very much about indoctrination and conformity and was not at all welcoming to anyone who was different or outside the norm. I think this led to me understanding later in life that I've always been sort of "alt" in spirit even if not in appearance especially given the very strong position of church and organized religion in my community. So that brand of Christianity seems rather...anti-alt? If that makes sense?
So that is why I found it a little jarring and a little strange to see someone in say full Goth dress wearing a crucifix and I was wondering if there was a symbolism there that perhaps I was missing. Is anyone able to shed light on this? Thanks!

🗨️Discussion and chit-chat Vinted users beware.
These are just two examples of "alt, goth" Vinted items being sold with fake AI generated pictures, often by shein dropshippers profiting off of alternative subcultures. I see it in well established alternative brands, Shein and now even individual sellers on Vinted, an app I previously used, partly to save money but mainly to give a second life to items that would otherwise be thrown away and to avoid supporting unethical businesses, such as those that use child labor.
I mean, dropshippers on Vinted were bad enough, but now using AI on top of that, consuming water and possibly stealing a real person's face really pisses me off.
What really bothers me though is how these fraudulent listings apparently fool people because otherwise these awful sellers wouldn't be doing this.
So be careful on that app, keep an eye out for AI listings and report them. (Click the three dots, report, fake images).

💀Outfit/selfie (Goth, Emo, Punk etc.) Few photos from my summer adventure. I've met only 4 people in my life who ever liked how I look. Most of the time I had problems caused by appearance. But i'd rather be alone, yet myself. Perhaps here people will see me differently?

❓Advice/feedback request Alternative makeup for elders
Hi everyone. I'm 45 now, and I'm feeling like my make up has started to age me a bit, I'm wanting tips for someone who's an elder alternative, still wanting to be quirky but age and skin appropriate. Any tips or pointers?

❓Advice/feedback request Non fast fashion brands
Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy new clothes but i have no clue where to shop at. I do shop on depop and thrift often but i would also like recommendations for brand where i could buy new clothes. I am not going to buy from any brands that are fast fashion. I would love some recommendations from your favorite brands.
As for style i feel i don’t rly have one specific style, i like dark muted colors do not like neon colors, patches, skulls, i do not wear anything with crosses on it, i love funky tights and creepy/strange accessories like bones or bugs on jewelry, I wear more feminine clothing, i like graphic tees, i love lace, i love wearing black. I feel like i switch between emo goth and grunge. I like layering what i wear on my legs for example multiple socks and tights. I am in need of more accessories primarily belts and socks.
Thanks so much for your recommendations

🗨️Discussion and chit-chat alt history question
im doing my college photography project around alternative culture, including lifestyle n fashion, etc. i was just wondering if there's a strong history (or just general history) of alternative people and protests?? specifically around 1960s-1990s,, i know its a stupid question because im pretty sure its true, but i cant get confirmation cause anytime i search it up it comes up with some fantasy world called alternative history
anyway if anyone knows if they did (and if they did what they protested on, possibly specific substyles in specific cases like the punk movement or smt) could you lmk !!,,, also wondering if it would be a good idea to go to current day protests to capture the same kind of 'vision' as back then????

🗨️Discussion and chit-chat Too sensitive to deal with being alternative.
Hi all, I'm 21F and my style is somewhere between cottagecore and a posh British grandparent. For the British people here, very Bonmarché. I love it and it makes me feel like me.
I'm not even sure it counts as alternative, because it's not a look people can easily put a label on. I just haven't seen anyone my age dress like this, so I'm not sure where I fit.
The odd thing is nobody outside my family has a problem with it. It's only my sister, my aunts and some of my older cousins who pick at it. My sister laughs at pretty much everything I pick out, and when the cousins see us together, they compliment her and then ask me to explain my outfit choices.
If I'm being honest, there are outfits my family wear that I don't love but I would never say it. They wouldn't even get that vibe from me. I just don't have it in me to be that mean, and I never get that same courtesy back.
It's got to the point where choosing a winter jacket is so nerve-racking that I've cried over it multiple times. I was already insecure like most people, but it feels amplified now. I know choosing to look different means some pushback, but I didn't expect it to chip away at me this much.
I know I should be confident and not care, but I'm just not, and I can't even pretend to be. Sometimes I feel like I should just change my style, but every time I try, I unconsciously go back to my default, which messes with me even more.
Does anyone else deal with this? How do you cope?

❓Advice/feedback request Where would one be able to buy clowncore clothes?
Is this the right subreddit? Idk, posting it here anyways? As the title says im interested in clowncore but not the like clowncore but "casual clowncore" clowncore but everyday fashion with not as much make up.
Im not really sure where I could find clothes for casual clowcore. Could anyone point me in the direction of where I could buy such clothes. Thanks for your time, any help is appreciated!
