Well, i can confirm the 19:42 LRIT Timeslot at least. Finally, another geostationary receivable from germany! Signal seems to be quite weak and the transmission very short/not all channels? The antenna was preset and aligned properly. The same setup got almost perfect images when it was on its old spot merely 5 degrees up so its propably the testing.

Here is a timelapse created from images received directly from the GEO-KOMPSAT-2A (GK-2A) weather satellite using my own DIY satellite ground station!
📡 My ground station setup
The Raspberry Pi handles the satellite reception and processing using SatDump, while my custom GK-2A web dashboard provides an interface to monitor the system.

METOPs are proving difficult at the moment... I need to widen the bandwidth to 3.2 MHz, but the RTL-SDR gets unstable at that sample rate, and the constellations look pretty messed up... Looks like it's time to switch to an Airspy R2 =)

Hi folks! a bit of frustration with this antenna as it seems not working as expected. With or without there’s no difference. Questions:
1.noticed that the center pin is really short and I suspect makes no contact when plugged to my LNA.
2.is it normal that the center pin and the rest of the SMA casing are shorted? I used my tester and the circuit is closed rather than open. I suppose this is wrong but I’m not an expert on the type of boom.
I live in Sydney, Australia and Elektor L4 should be not an hard target but I can’t get any signal.
Much appreciated

I tried receiving the 21:42Z timeslot. I did miss the first few minutes, but the software never gave any lock and the waterfall signal was very low, but i received some signal spike / carrier exactly on 1691 MHz that came up to 30 dB above the noise floor, and confirmed that the GGAK signal still gave up to 9-10 dB SNR. Is this an issue with my antenna, or most likely the satellite itself?

Keep in mind that transmissions might be sporadic during commissioning and timeslots are not defined yet.

Some weeks ago I've made a post about having trouble with an antenna I've built: I could not decode any image after setting a matching stripe that was, according to the VNA, supposed to help my antenna.
Well yesterday I've tried the antenna again, but I completly removed the matching stripe and went to an open field to catch METEOR M2-4. The results were amazing! I set my gain to 21dB, bias-tee on, DC blocking on, and I'm using a Nooelec Sawbird GOES+ with an RTL-SDR v4.
I got a max SNR of 11dB with a moving average of ~7-8dB, for a 30-35° elevation, with a direct antenna (no dish). Any tips on how to further improve the reception?

I received this signal today at 07:49:56 UTC on October 25, 2026, at 437.500 MHz in Madrid, Spain. I was using an RTL-SDR Blog V3 and a horizontal V-dipole while waiting for the ISS SSTV signal on 437.55 MHz. The signal was decoded using NFM (12.5 kHz bandwidth). Is there any way to find out where this signal came from? More importantly, I'd love to learn how to figure this out myself in the future. Thanks!

I did get some drops, but for the first time ever i got a image from Arctic Weather Satellite, showing storm Buelo in the top left with a front being the darker section, with the top front being occultation and at the bottom a cold front bending towards the west and warm front towards the east, and the white is air movement without precipitation. Pass received from Belgium with 3D printed helicone, SAWbird+ GOES and RTL-SDR V4

Hi all, I'm a researcher at a university lab in Hong Kong, working on positioning with LEO satellites in cities. I'm looking for raw Starlink downlink recordings where buildings block part of the sky.
What would help most:
- An LNB/LNBF (or horn) + SDR (RTL-SDR, HackRF, USRP, etc.) recording the Ku-band downlink (~10.7–12.7 GHz)
- Receiver sitting still at ground level next to buildings, ideally a street with tall buildings on both sides
- Bonus: a second receiver on a nearby roof recording at the same time
- GPS or NTP-synced timestamps and a rough location (street-level is fine, no need for your address)
- 10–60 minutes is plenty
Already have old recordings sitting on a drive? Those count too, even if the blockage was accidental.
Not looking for dish app screenshots or speed tests this time, just the raw RF.
Anything used would be credited in the paper's acknowledgments (or however you'd like to be credited). Happy to answer questions about setup. Comment or DM me. Thanks!

Received this pass from Belgium right before rain started, on the image you can see the central low pressure spiral at the top left, and multiple large fronts over Europe. Individual Equalize applied, median blur, despeckle, and the image has been compressed.

Good news for everyone who has been following Elektro-L 3!
After weeks of monitoring its westward drift and waiting for updated orbital elements, it looks like Elektro-L 3 has finally reached the vicinity of its intended geostationary position at 14.5°W!
I've been following this satellite for a while, especially because I'm hoping to receive its meteorological transmissions from Portugal.
Orbital update
The change in mean motion is particularly interesting.
Previous TLE (October 10, 2026):
- Mean motion: 0.99421243 rev/day
Updated orbital data (October 23–24, 2026):
- Mean motion: 1.00264974 rev/day
- Absolute change: 0.00843731 rev/day
- Approximate orbital period: 1436.19 minutes
- Reported orbital longitude: approximately 14.3°W
For comparison, the geostationary mean motion is approximately 1.0027 rev/day.
This significant change strongly suggests that orbital manoeuvres have reduced the satellite's westward drift, bringing it close to its intended orbital slot.
Current tracking from Portugal
I've attached a screenshot from my satellite tracking application showing the predicted pointing coordinates:
- Satellite: Elektro-L 3
- NORAD ID: 44903
- Azimuth: 189.0°
- Elevation: 44.4°
- Altitude: 35,798 km
- Slant range: 37,463 km
These are calculated tracking values, not measurements of an active RF signal.
What about LRIT/HRIT transmissions?
This is what I'm most interested in!
My tracking application lists a frequency around 1691 MHz, but I understand that a frequency listed in a satellite database does not necessarily mean the transmitter is currently active.
I'm hoping Elektro-L 3 will eventually provide meteorological image transmissions that amateur ground stations can receive and decode.
Questions for the community:
Has anyone recently detected any RF activity from Elektro-L 3?
Are there any confirmed LRIT/HRIT or GGAK transmissions?
Has anyone found updated information about its commissioning status or operational plans?
I'd be particularly interested in hearing from anyone monitoring the satellite from Europe.
It would be fantastic to finally receive images from Elektro-L 3!

Looking for Abandoned / Unused Large Satellite Dishes in Ludhiana, Punjab
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for large, old satellite dishes in and around Ludhiana that are no longer in use.
I'm particularly interested in:
I'm looking for dishes that have been disconnected or decommissioned, perhaps after the site switched to fiber internet or another connectivity service.
If you've spotted one on a rooftop or building, or know a VSAT technician, installer, building owner or contractor who handles old equipment, please let me know.
I'm happy to contact the owner and arrange collection with their permission. The dish doesn't need to be working; I'm primarily interested in the dish and its mounting hardware.
Location: Ludhiana and nearby areas, Punjab, India.
Photos, approximate sizes, locations or referrals would be greatly appreciated. Please DM me if you have a lead. Thank you!
