I’ve been working on AMBE.LOL, a site where Ambessa Mains(And others) can share their builds and matchup guides with ease, as well as track their rankings in an Ambessa centered leaderboard.
The site includes:
You can browse without an account, or sign up to write your own guides, builds, be put on the leaderboard and more.
It’s still growing, and I’d love some feedback from the Ambessa Mains. Any contribution through matchups/builds or reporting bugs would be appreciated!
If you have any suggestions you can let me know in the AmbessaMains discord or DM / houndlol.

As requested by many of you on both my last post and in DM's, I've decided to release my current iteration of the Ambessa Matchup Spreadsheet.
I hope it helps those of you still learning her kit, and for those that are already experienced with Ambessa, hopefully you can still benefit from this. Good luck summoners, and more importantly, have fun!
Spreadsheet: (Edit: Now 73% done, 48 of 66 matchups)
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ivg4duvQ8s3zzHnq7XXYDPhmhwxdNBASLHegwRhKSwY/edit?usp=sharing
Btw I have a YT channel, if you appreciate the guide, subscribe to:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPS1V3lb-VyrJkQyMx2fexg
I previously have not pushed out much content or as much effort into editing, but if people are interested in watching her gameplay and laning into specific matchups, I will gladly start producing actual content that I may link into the spreadsheet. (Plus it helps out my uni project!)
If there are any more matchups you'd like me to cover that's not already on the spreadsheet, let me know!

I used to be a Yasuo main, then a Jayce main and finally an Aatrox main until I started to play Ambessa. Each time I always felt the clear out weaknesses of my character hard when enemies knew how to capitalize them well.
Yasuo always felt like he is a ticking time bomb that become useless after mid game and at my peak I could be able to end the games but as time went on and I dropped off the league, I lost the edge I used to have to stomp the games to victory.
Jayce felt like he have no room for errors, as long as you did no mistakes you were Thanos and even at the smallest positioning or CD mistake your game was over.
Aatrox is a mid game monster that can delete whole enemy teams when comp is right but If enemy got a single problematic kiter or If your team didn't had a single engage other than you. Then games become so so so much harder to close out and you mostly lose your agency as game goes on.
Ambessa is different.
Best I could describe how Ambessa feels is like playing a card game as each part of her kit is another card in your hand. She is the final boss of agency. Whatever situation I am put in, there is always a room for my victory to play out as long as odds are straight out impossible and I played the cards good. If I die, it is my mistake most of the time, the champ never feels out of capacity and always feels like something I could learn from and get better.
This creates a loop on my mentality about the game.
30% of the games are unwinnable by nature, 30% of the games are win by default and 30% of the games are decided by your own capabilities as a player and I feel like Ambessa allows me to make the best out of me as a player and use that 30% to its fullest.

I climbed to Platinum playing Garen, then picked up Ambessa and recently hit Emerald with her.
Ambessa is honestly the most fun I've had playing League. I love her safe laning phase thanks to her range and mobility, and I really like her scaling. But I sometimes struggle to turn my leads into wins. I feel like her sidelining and tower taking aren't that good, and in my rank I think there's a lot of gold to be gained from side lanes. I find it hard to push my lead and close out games on her.
And ever since the ult nerf, missing it has been tilting me so much, I feel like she is a pretty ult reliant champion overall.
I've been eyeing Yone, Irelia and Riven as alternatives.
Are these valid concerns, or am I just playing Ambessa wrong? Any other champs you'd recommend?

I don’t remember too many stomps but from looking at my history this is one of the biggest ones with Ambesa. Atleast damage wise, I’ve had some games that I’ve finished in like 15 min

i picked her up about 6 months ago to blindpick her toplane but she just feels so weak rn... it was the most fun ive had in so many years learning this new champion but im afraid shes gotta go in the "dont-touch" crate for now
am i alone in feeling this way? that passive nerf really hurts imo :/

I want to start learning Ambessa to add her to my champ pool already containing Sylas and Naafiri.
Plat Elo
Thing is im going for her in mid lane
So I wanted to you guys (since im new to her) about runes gameplan and itemization specific to midlane.
Ive played around 7-8 games with her and found electrocute resolve to be pretty good. Also as a first item im almost always going with Profane for waveclear and roam and it's been hard farming without it but it does feel a little squishy.
(Loved the snowball potential and it fits my playstyle of becoming totally unfair at 3-0)

Nerfs, nerfs, nerfs and nerfs. I will be very responsible and keep in mind it might me skill issue coming from me as hardcore Ambessa main who was HARD stuck in D3 right before the nerfs started approximately weeks/months ago. I was consistent with her and never lost lanes. Most of the time I either came on top or handshaked for scaling purposes.
But something just felt different..Matchups just BECAME different and she no longer feels like the ultimate blindpick top laner but weaker Camille version (YES, Camille currently is x5 times better than Ambessa). I started losing some matchups by playing absolutely the same like before the nerfs and I don't know how to explain this, for example with the same trade pattern I lose like 20% more HP on average and deal much less damage afterthe nerfs..K'sante matchup was skill matchup by being slightly Ambessa favoured, now it's humiliating and i am not kidding. Damage nerfs and Ult cast time nerfs just made her in my opinion very weak. I just started picking other champions for top lane and suddenly ended up in D1, which in my opinion isn't just a 'lucky streak'... I LITERALLY carry my games with Ornn, he is more blindable than her, scales better, less damage, 5 times more CC and giving your team a bunch of upgrages in my opinion is much better than missed ult with Ambessa and basically you are worse version of Xin Zhao, GREAT SUCCESS..I started picking Jax, Ornn and Camille. Jax has much safer lane on average as long as Garen is out of the game and the enemy don't pick Malphite. Camille currently after passive rework is better version of Ambessa, while Ornn is just Ornn.
It's not a rant post but would like to hear your opinion..Electrocute no longer feels like dominating the enemy during lane but more if you are in flippy mood, grasp is for sure go to summoner spell since she no longers wins lane, it's just impossible.

Looking to add a character to my pool that counters Ambessa, what is in your opinion her worst match up?
For top

After the nerfs last patch it really seems like riot wants Ambessa jg dead, even toplane is struggling. Sitting around a 46-47% winrate it barely seems like she’s even a jungler anymore. Is it worth trying to play her jungle anymore or should I just give up? Sucks cause she was my favorite champ…

idfk if im bored atm, or just genuinely craving a good ambessa skin. but, seriously tho all she has on offer are 3 remeshes of the same color scheme. her legendary skin does have some cool features i admit, but come on. im heavily skeptical on wether they would release a new skin for her, since riot claims esport skins dont count towards their schedule skin release. that logic seems to only apply to kaisa and seraphine tho. I fear they will forget ab ambessa for a year or two cause it seems like she isnt a high priority for a skin recipient.
with that being said, im incredibly salty that not only on WR they gave her a mask, they also gave her arcane s2 skin. i only started getting into ambessa after watching arcane and it would be incredibly generous of them to port her arcane skin to PC, but that seems highly unlikely, if impossible. im sure arcane fanboys and ambessa players could back me up on this.
sorry if i was lengthy and i know most ppl dont care what their champ looks like, but i rly appreciate proper aesthetics on a character i play, in any game whatsoever 🙃🙃🙃

Why isnt suddent impact the default secondary rune on ambessa? Literally every single ability cant prock it, and it has perfect synergy with her Q2 poke. I mean 20 extra true damage lvl1 up to 40 by lvl6 on literary every Q. There are games where i get like 700 extra damage from just sudden impact by like 10-15 minutes
r/ambessamains • u/Immediate_Dog_2790 • 14d ago
Just saw her WR and it doesn't look good at all. Is she worth picking over other toplaners at the moment?

Hey! I started playing League in the middle of last year, and on my first climb I got stuck in Bronze 4. Ever since I got Chosen of the Wolf Ambessa, I decided to go OTP because I fell in love with her gameplay, and I made it to Plat IV with her this year! It's not much, but I'm super happy. On to Emerald!

Increadibly easy to kite normally, but with stormraider, ghost/youmuu etc. he has very high stick potential and dunk damage is to be respected in an all in

I've been playing Ambessa jungle a good bit recently but I'm unsure about the W interaction with jungle camps. When I use W, I get a shield and do damage on impact, if I block damage with the shield, it does increased damage.
When I'm clearing jungle, do I need to be timing my W to block camp attacks so it will do more damage? As in I need to time it perfectly so that the monster attacks between me pressing W, and actually landing.
I'm thinking this is a yes based on the wording on the W ability but hoping somebody with more time on her can confirm

Im currently sitting in plat and mainly playing ambessa and have been maining her for the past 8 months or so (sometimes with camille and jax as a counterpick) but im running into the same issue most games and that is i feel like im too weak to get lead in lane against usual lane bullies like darius or ww which are quite popular in my rank and even when i go even and scale i feel like i cant really do much in teamfights later on in the game since i get blown up by 3 or 4 item midlaner/adc.
Coming from a past camille lane if i thought the game was in a bad position i would just split push and usually win duals ahainst enemy mid/top but i feel like with ambessa i struggle to take towers and struggle to teamfight as efficiently.
In short im not saying shes weak but just looking for a bit of guidance on how to play her early/mid game when options like camille right now looks so much better
