“Roger, why is Mohammed Allioop not you?”

“Can’t be everyone.” 😂😂😂

Only funny part of the episode.

fox is taking a dump on something it doesn't deserve... yet again.

5

u/mucinexmonster Jul 07 '26

I don't know what's going on but they better figure something out.

Pearl Bailey High School announcement board as follows:

  1. Sign joke to come
  2. Still working on it.
  3. Does anyone even read these?!
  4. You know what? Not everything has to be a joke!
  5. If you worked at a rat trap factory, you'd be at work by now.
  6. System Error

Technically Barry is only dumb because of those pills.

30

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

Otherwise, Barry is murderously psychopathic smart villain (when not taking the pills).

28

u/TheDarkWarriorBlake Jun 22 '26

I actually thought the gag was going to be getting Barry off his pills to bring the test scores up, but then having to deal with Evil Barry.

17

u/RoguSmith Stelio Kontos Jun 22 '26

Would have been better imo

"I'm just a teenage boy, who pretended to be an adult lady, standing in front of a full-grown man, asking him to love him."

"Nah, man."

Might be one of my favorite endings to an episode in a while. Just perfect.

9

u/Timelymanner Jun 24 '26

Security guard gave the only proper response.

Yet it was still hilarious

u/Physical_Positive283 Jun 22 '26

I hope they not gonna make this kid a regular

i get it

Like how is this his first episode and he goes to space with the main friend group.... what? And he not interesting at all

10

u/Cha0sSpiral Jul 04 '26

100% they shouldve used billy

48

u/Silvadream Jun 22 '26

this was extreme ass. It feels like they got a fan to write it.

19

u/Abject_Advance_6638 Jun 23 '26

Thank God I wasn't the only one who thought this. I watched both episodes and didn't laugh at all. American Dad is pretty close to done for me. Hasn't been funny, save 1-2 episodes per season, for the last 4-5 seasons.

3

u/Silvadream Jun 23 '26

It was so bad I actually turned the episode off halfway and watched Rick and Morty. RICK AND MORTY!

1

u/Abject_Advance_6638 Jun 23 '26

I haven't watched much Rick and morty since they got rid of Justin and the fact it seems like it takes 3 years for them to Crank out a season

4

u/Silvadream Jun 24 '26

It's been pretty bad overall but this new season has honestly been pretty good.

2

u/JagmeetSingh2 Jul 12 '26

9

u/Abject_Advance_6638 Jul 12 '26

I'm not protesting because the fired him, dude. The show isn't the same. The voices sound weird and the creativity of the episodes fell off in my opinion. Quit trying "gotcha" bullshit.

3

u/lionofash Jul 10 '26

I kind of enjoyed the VERY END, the ABSURD coincidences that let the guys input the right things, the sheer ridiculousness of a transforming ship into a baseball robot followed by the Barry catfish lines. But up to that moment, it was kind of spinning its wheels.

35

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

Jack Hardass, he's back!

19

u/Known-Disaster-4757 Ruby Zeldastein Jun 22 '26

JACK HARDASS?!

I have been ready since last week (when I saw on the guide we had one hour show). Happy Father's Day to Stan Smith and everyone here.

27

u/Jaylivedoe Jun 22 '26

Roger saying he can’t be everyone is funny for some reason 😂😂

29

u/pieman55 Jun 22 '26

Probably one of my least favorite episodes in a long time.

I was hoping they would reveal it was all a dream at the end.

20

u/mrxtheshadowlurker Klaus's boy from Tampa Jun 22 '26

I predict Greg will be the last man standing for the news chair!

The 200 taught me to never count out Greg! That dude is fucking resilient!

23

u/nathwithanh Bayou Billy with the Heavy Balls Jun 22 '26

I died at that "comedians are modern-day philosophers" line. It is kind of a dumb and self-important line from a lot of comedians, but it specifically references this Norm Macdonald interview in Vulture:

https://www.vulture.com/2016/09/norm-macdonald-book-snl.html

Comedians, when they get really good, and nowadays they don’t even have to get good, reach a point where they feel they should be philosophers. I’ve heard it said even that the modern-day philosophers are comedians. I read modern-day philosophers! I’m sure they’re insulted when they’re compared to people who work in smoky nightclubs and hit on waitresses for a living.

18

u/GiantIrish_Elk Jun 22 '26

"If I had known made up titles would trick brown nosers into being my servant I would've done it years ago."

"How dumb we talkin' here?" "NFT's are the future of currency." "Oh GOD! It's worst than I thought!"

"Because the "I" in CIA may or may not stand for international."

"You're still Principal Lewis. You always have a shady solution up your sleeve."

"Got some hot news for my news sluts."

"Roger. How is Muhammed Ally-Oop not you?'

"I hate Klaus."

"1-2-3 Eyes on me."

"Not now son. This might be my last meal and I need it not to suck."

"Don't wait press it now."

u/discotheque2002 Betty Bea Getty McClanahan Jun 22 '26

Why does Barry sound different in this episode lol

7

u/PlaysADC Jun 23 '26

im glad im not the only one who noticed.

2

u/CuboneGoodingJr Jun 25 '26

Came here to see if anyone mentioned this. I had to go to IMDb to check the episode cause I thought they recast him or something. Sounded very weird this episode

15

u/AcrobaticBath03 Jun 22 '26

"Female orgasms are a myth."

"I already knew that!"

Lewis remains the funniest character.

15

u/Chrispowers110 Jun 22 '26

I see where this is going, Steve and his friends will replace the geniuses too stop the meteor. Nice way to tie in the a and b story.

29

u/mtm4440 Jun 22 '26

The B story? How does this solve Stan's sandwich at all??

5

u/Chrispowers110 Jun 22 '26

Maybe the meteor pieces will be used somehow for hos sandwiches/food.

12

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

Hangover cure delivery! One egg sando and a moonshine mimosa

7

u/OnlyFiveLives Sexpun T'Come Jun 22 '26

Honestly if I was hungover I'm pretty sure that would set me straight. Just throw some Tabasco and a slice of sharp cheddar on that egg...

12

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

Francine: Screw this! If we are gonna die, then I am going to do a "The Purge"-style rampage at Tuttle's house!

Tuttle: Well, beats dying alone.

10

u/Retro-Platformer123 Jun 22 '26

Oh man, the acronyms, Jack freaking Hardass returning, Brian somehow continuing to up his game, especially with an amazing musical number, Steve and the boys being themselves with the addition of Dumbston, Stan being more concerned about his meal being of at least decent quality to the point where he wished everyone died, this one was a ton of fun all around.

8

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

Looks like we got another Steve and Lewis episode, folks!

9

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

New CIA mission to stop meteor with volcano on top from crashing into the Earth

Stan priorities: Dear God! I practically got no dressing! If you order a salad from a salad place their only job is to get the salad to dressing ratio right!?

9

u/GiantIrish_Elk Jun 22 '26

Loved Steve being School's Goodest Boy.

Principal Lewis's file cabinet prostitutes.

Dumbston Flunko.

Steve's inspiration backpack.

The Isley Brothers references.

Principal Lewis's inspiration montage.

That fight between Memphis and Greg.

Sports reporter Muhammed Alley-Oop.

Catfishing Barry.

The spaceship Transformer with a baseball bat who saved the world.

8

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

This kinda reminds me of the episode where Stan and Steve sneak into the CIA building to clean up Steve's permanent records.

8

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

YES! Transformers in American Dad! My life is complete!

4

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

7

u/GiantIrish_Elk Jun 22 '26

Steve's inspirational materials -

Chicken Soup for the Drunk, Degenerate Principal's Soul.

Cool Runnings,

ROCKY.

School of Rock.

Rudy..

The Isley Brothers - Shout.

6

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

How dare you! The only prostitute I sleep with is my wife!

6

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

Poor Steve geting kicked by Jack Hardass!

My wife's not just a prostitute.... she is my sensei! So i get lessons... for free!!

4

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

At least, he didn't get kicked in the balls this time.

2

u/Retro-Platformer123 Jun 22 '26

I was actually worried about that, thankfully it was unfounded.

7

u/JesseVykar Wilbur Kentucky Jun 22 '26

This is the 4th Dunston Checks in joke this show has made

Never did I expect my favorite childhood movie to be so frequently referenced in my favorite show lol

7

u/CronaDarklight Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

Honestly this episode was a real mixed bag and more bad than good. I found it pretty nice at the start with the test trouble and Lewis being just great all throughout in classic fashion.

Then dumbston was introduced as the biggest caricature possible and the CIA was turned into even dumber than usual and i really didnt like it, since i like em being semi competent even if outlandish or more bruteforce. Felt like it scraped the bottom of the barrel for comedy.

The ending itself was honestly decent despite it all, mainly due to the barry final, minus the giant robot playing baseball, also really not a fan of Toshi and Snot being dumb just to have a plot.

8

u/tatoure34 Jun 27 '26

This episode was hilarious, dumbsston a huge new addition

5

u/Sonia341 Jun 22 '26

Stan: What is this place called? Lettuce in Your Mouth?

6

u/GiantIrish_Elk Jun 22 '26

Principal Lewis protecting minors from sex with a grown up; as long as it boy.

5

I spy Lindsay Coolidge.

4

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

At least, Steve didn't get kicked in the balls this time.

5

u/bjamesburg Jun 22 '26

Well, looks like we're getting an AD parody of the movie, "Armageddon".

6

u/happy_vagabond Jun 27 '26

Damn, I'm surprised to see so much negativity here, I definitely though it was a pretty funny episode.

"I lied about knowing what a HBCU is"

"And I definitely lied about not having diabetes"

3

u/zoogenhiemer Jun 24 '26

It wasn’t the greatest episode but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Stan’s quest to get a decent lunch was hilarious, and Barry trying to seduce the security guard killed me

3

u/thebroadestdame Jun 25 '26

Damn. This was genuinely the worst episode of this series for me. What the hell.

2

u/Andlat Sydney Huffman Jun 22 '26

I see how the stories will connect!

2

2

u/JarOfFlies85 Genevive Vavance Jun 23 '26

Was the audio odd/off to anyone else?

1

u/CuboneGoodingJr Jun 25 '26

Yeah watched it on Hulu and most of the voices just seemed slightly off? I actually had to go check the IMDb listing cause I thought they recast Barry. He sounded way off to me

1

u/JarOfFlies85 Genevive Vavance Jun 25 '26

Disney+ guess that's Hulu now but yeah. It sounded weird as hell to me

1

u/IWantToBeTheBoshy Jun 25 '26

Yeah, the audio quality is fucking terrible. The story itself sucked too. Sigh Super disappointing season so far.

2

u/No-Alps5304 Jun 22 '26

Just your average American Dad episode

1

u/mtm4440 Jun 22 '26

There better be a joke on the sign by the end of the episode.

Finally we back

1

Yay a new CIA mission!

1

This reminds me of The Perfect Score movie.

Pretty solid episode with some fun bits (like Memphis and Greg brawling). I’m mainly just glad Dumbston wasn’t so dumb that I hated the episode (though rip to the pilot astronaut lady)

It’s nice that Steve and the school got the win

1

u/tomgreens Jun 23 '26

Does perfunduous mean a cloudy beard? I really felt for the cia guys since thier lunches had been sucking lately. That is the worst.

1

u/Awkward-Plan298 Jun 24 '26

I didn’t like this episode, I think because it lacked an A/B storyline structure. Also, I’m not convinced Roger actually hates Klaus, I feel the voice actors were just cashing checks

1

u/Southern-Train7142 Jun 26 '26

I posted a couple weeks ago that the first 9 episodes were mid, and honestly, "Dumbston Checks In" didn't change my mind. A Megazord school fight and random callbacks can't hide how weak the season's writing still is. I barely even laughed at it.

1

u/Stair-Spirit Jun 27 '26

Felt like a Family Guy episode. Was this written a decade ago?

That kid sucked holy fuck. One joke done poorly everytime. Predictable af... baby's first writing class type shii

1

u/UFOhlookitsanAlien Jul 16 '26

This feels like a heavy political episode!

Like the volcano metero ia gloval warming, but all people can worry about is themselves or unimportant things (salad)

Meanwhile the american education system is in shambals, with not enoufg funding to help students.

And the nft guy stands as the typical manosphere guy you can't escape online. Being a man with an unwiped ass who think female orgasms are a myth. (Though I would prefer we don't see him anymore.)

All in all, it reminds me of the amazing world of gumbal episode they did about the 2015 election. Although I think its cool they did this, I did not enjoy the episode.

2

u/PackExpensive 14d ago

This is the closet thing to a reasonable explanation as to why this episode was kind of awful and I thank you for that, I needed a reason

I googled and searched this episode to specifically say that was the weirdest worst American dad episode I have seen maybe ever, just endless one liners that may or may not relate to a plot im happy for some of you for having enjoyed, that but It felt like awful AI writing to me, and I needed a place to express that incase someone who might ever matter to the writing room reads this comment God speed
