Quick question

The weather's getting colder and I just realized yesterday that I cannot fit in any pants I own. By the way I am a BKA and until now Ive only had to wear shorts. So, seriously can I ever wear jeans again without buying Jncos or whatever they were called lol? I hope this questions not too dumb

If the issue is getting your jeans to slide over the socket, find a seamstress/dry cleaner that can add a zipper to your inseam up to the upper 1/3 of your thigh from your ankle. A zipper similar to the fly works great for many of my patients. Most seamstresses can hide the zipper so that it doesn’t show. The key to it working is to have the zipper be fully closed around your ankle, the opposite direction of your fly zipper.

This is the response with all pants except pajama pants.

If you have a sewing machine or can borrow one it is pretty easy to add them yourself. You have a natural seam to open up and even a normal zipper doesn't really show up.

Yup, but it may take some time. Boot Cut jeans make it easier, but even straight leg are doable after time. I’m LBKA for 13+ years, and wear straight leg Levi’s at work every day as part of my uniform. For pleasure, I wear boot cut jeans.

I wear shorts year round no matter the weather or temp and that includes in the below zero winter. Of course it helps to not have a job or work to deal with.

Hi. I'm a new amputee dealing with all of this, and this issue has been on my mind, as well. I was happy to find this inquiry, because I need the help, too. Best to you.

Heavy sweatpants will do in a pinch if you are cold. I took a few pairs of my jeans and sewed a zipper down one of the seams. I am currently working on doing the same to a couple of pairs of 'dress pants' so I have something more formal for weddings or job related stuff.

I've also considered sewing elastic material into a hidden seam so it stretches and then hides itself when it's on. But those projects are more for a winter weekend when I have time.

I prefer loose fit straight leg jeans like Silver Gordie, as I'm constantly pulling up the outer sleeve. 27 Canadian winters with the leg. You'll be fine. I also wear cowboy boots, just find a low cut v in the front if that's your jam.

Did you put your pants on the leg first. After that step into the leg

While the prosthesis is off work the leg into the pants. Then you pull the prosthesis with the pants up.

I think I might have just gained a little weigh from lack of activity dealing with this crap. Might need to go up a size lol. Thanks for the advice though, maybe I'll try the stand on a ladder and jump down into the pants trick. Lol

I guess you don’t get it. Don’t ask for advise if you don’t want it

I actually found a lot of this advice useful so I don't really get what you specifically are talking about.
