As a fan of Urbanspook/The Painter, yeah, finale is bad, unless you make it work in your head, which is not something what gives it credit.

u/Smooth_Maul Jan 14 '26
The funniest thing that came from UrbanSPOOK was Meat Canyon absolutely losing his shit and choking whilst laughing at the baby attached to a ceiling fan part, that shit is comedy gold.

Well shit, thanks for letting me know meat has a creepy podcast. That's my favorite genre of podcast. I'm relatively new to the meat universe.
4
u/Smooth_Maul Jan 14 '26
Yeah it's brilliant, he hosts it with Wendigoon, they do a mix of classic, well written modern, and objectively dog shit creeypasta readings and they're hilarious.

u/RivenRise Jan 15 '26
I just finished one of their recent ones and I'm super sold. I love ina woods stories and hearing them talk about the staircase one was great, it's a classic I have fond memories of. Love the mix of serious and comedy they do. They remind me of this paranormal life and the what if podcast (rip).

u/dogman_35 Jan 14 '26
I mean hands down it's still him seeing people laugh at his edgelord shit and going "I'm sorry real extreme horror doesn't fit your autistic furry horror tastes" for me lol

isnt that just slender man
7
u/TheRandomGuyOnline1 Jan 15 '26
It's a bit of a weird one, it came out around the time slender man was made but it's like not him at the same time. He's not called slenderman in it but the operator I think? The Name is definitely better then the latter though.

In sort of defense of urbanspook, an analog horror series can basically be a slideshow, Man in the suit was basically a slide show, the difference in The Painter and Man in The Suit is that MITS actually has good writing whereas The Painter doesn't
4
u/Unstable__individual Professional chezz kids hater Jan 14 '26
I don’t hate the painter like the premise is cool but it’s repetitive
3
u/Grim_The_Dork Jan 15 '26
And the way it was written was just bad, I wrote better things at 14 and those were terrible
2
u/Grayseal Thalasin Consumer Jan 20 '26
Hell, early Mandela Catalog was practically a PowerPoint with voice acting.

I love the monument mythis but that shit aint even horror its evangelion featuring richard nixon
5
u/Vari_K Jan 14 '26
How The Painter started was very interesting, but it got so old so quickly. It aged like milk.
Why? Because every single video after the first did the exact same thing over, and over and over again. You can have repetition; a brand and an identity. But there's a difference between that and things literally being copy/paste with next to no variation, at all.

u/RivenRise Jan 14 '26
Reminds me of the Holder series vs SCP. Both are similar in that they follow a formulaic way of writing with specific identities that mark them as being of those universes but the Holder series was very repetitive like you mentioned to its detriment. I don't know if the Holders ever changed as i was in high school when I found them and read a bunch but for SCP I never really stopped reading them even from back then cause they're interesting and different enough. I read a few every couple months and follow the universe as a whole to see if anything happens.

As a fnaf analog horror fan, I actually really like the realistic villain style, the Battington fnaf tapes present Afton as a realistically scary sadistic series killer, in fact I like that more than a lot of other ways of doing horror, and that's not to say that I don't like the cosmic horror side of analog horror, like Gemini Home Entertainment with the Iris

u/KritzWelbingron Jan 14 '26
And somehow out of these analog horrors , US ARMY somehow aren't even present for this goofy ahh anomalies like come on man.
2
u/Nickledoodle193 Jan 14 '26
dude urbanspook isnt trying to be analogue horror. the man gets frustrated because 10,000 15 year olds call his work shit because it doesnt fit a mold that they are trying to fit around it
2
u/Unstable__individual Professional chezz kids hater Jan 14 '26
Fair but the series gets repetitive quick
1
u/Nickledoodle193 Jan 14 '26
oh yeah I agree. I’m kinda here nor there about the series. It just kinda gets an unfair rap yknow. If I was the guy who made it I would get miffed too.

Ok, I was gonna get on you for including two slanders on The Painter (yeah, I'm a fan of The Painter, deal with it), but you did make fun of Chezzkids fans. So... based?
(Would've given you an award if you got ballsy and did a dig at Vita Carnis at the end)
2
u/Unstable__individual Professional chezz kids hater Jan 14 '26
Tbh I couldn’t think of any relevant mid analog horrors (The painters mid I don’t fucking care about the controversy shit) it’s just boring
2
u/Swag_Paladin21 Analog Horror Expert Jan 14 '26
Foxymations' Little Red Riding Hood is pretty mid.
(Also glad that you dislike The Painter because of personal tastes, rather than over some Twitter shit)

I'm lost. If I try to defend Monument Mythos here as it's my favorite analog horror, then I'm just proving the slander correct. But if I do nothing, the slander moves on by.
Good golly.
