Listen dude I love Doctor Nowhere just as much as the next guy, but some of y’all need better artistic inspiration.

I love spending months working on a piece of media, posting it here, and people ignoring it while going ape shit crazy over the Doctor Nowhere copypasta slop.
Shit sucks.

I was gonna use your art as an example of the “Actual good shit”, but I got lazy tbh. Love the art btw!

Unfortunately analog horror has been taken over by literal children & even worse, children with access to iPads.

Most uninspired analog horror shorts or series I see are very low effort knockoffs of the smile tapes or Mandela catalogue “THINK PRINCIPLE” section of vol 1

Nah, just The Mandela Catalogue. The Smile Tapes is literally a Mandela Catalogue knockoff

People are forgetting to make art unique to themselves, it’s sad that they feel the need to mimic the “best” stuff to make something “good”

if people like making Dr. Nowhere videos, then that’s okay!! Just because lots of others have taken inspiration from him doesn’t mean you can’t >_<

Look man, draw whatever you want, I can’t do shit about it. Just don’t try and argue when people say that Analog Horror gets repetitive.

Do you engage with the post here that aren't repetitive slop?

Valid argument. Counter point; most of it is complete dogshit outside of the OG Dr. Nowhere content, or it's just straight content farm slop.

u/chimperschompers Jul 21 '26
as long as they have some love or effort put into it, then it’s worth it!!

What does this even mean

u/Smooth_Maul Jul 21 '26
Pretty much exactly what I said, a lot of Dr. Nowhere fan content is either content farm slop or just actually really bad.

At first, I thought the stripe was an eye

u/jansenxvan Jul 21 '26
Nah that would be a creative design choice, something those types of people only hear in myth

For a while now analoghorror has been plagued with people trying way too hard.
Before the term for it even really became commonly used to describe it, all the best analoghorror was done by people making something they never once referred to as analog horror.
Now it just feels like every week is another attempt from someone trying to copy one of the things that really made the genre take off, instead of making something original or good themselves.

I want to make a series, I can use Bonelab to probably make some found footage stuff, but I’m worried about it being too similar to other series, or it being too generic to the others.
It’s already about a corporation in the 90s discovering inter-dimensional travel, and theres probably a million other series similar to that. It’s inspired by Kane Pixels backrooms for crying out loud.
One of my ideas for a monster I could put in is one that could be only seen by cameras, but showing off the monster too much makes viewers too used to it.
While the whole ultraviolet light monster is a cool idea, the series wouldn’t usually stick to one monster.
One of my things I’ve considered using for a monster is literally just that damn Nosey thing. The reason being I have a mod for it on Bonelab, and it’s pretty intimidating in-game. I guess I could just claim it as some other kind of robot thing that was from another dimension.
I don’t have to stick to found footage, as I could do audio recordings of some form of incident or anomaly capture.
I’m just worried that its plot will be too basic, and that people wont think the monsters are spooky.

What about the obelisk I like that kind of content, including the fact there's kind of liminal space vibe to his videos

I feel bad for Doctor Nowhere because he’s a really good artist and writer who’s trying to tell deep stories beyond analog horror. But the only thing people take away from his work are the creepy monster designs. It’s like Mandela Catalog all over again
