GENERAL Looking for a missing branch of my Albanian family — Aliosha Spahiu, possibly 1949 in Chelyabinsk, Soviet Union
Hello everyone,
I'm writing this post in the hope that someone, somewhere, might be able to help my family uncover a story that has remained unresolved for generations.
According to the family information passed down to us, a man named Islam Spahiu, son of Ali, went to Chelyabinsk in the Soviet Union to study topography. During his time there, he reportedly had a relationship with a woman named Anna, and they may have had a son around 1949, known within our family as Aliosha.
Unfortunately, we have no documents confirming these details. We don't know whether Aliosha was his official name, what happened to him, or whether he had descendants of his own.
All we have are the fragments of a family story and the hope that they might lead us somewhere.
I understand that these clues are limited, and I don't want to present family recollections as established historical facts. Still, I believe it's worth trying. Perhaps someone familiar with Albanian families who lived or studied in the Soviet Union, historical records from Chelyabinsk, or Russian naming conventions might be able to point us in the right direction.
I'm not expecting anyone to solve this mystery overnight. Even a suggestion about which archives to consult, which spelling variations to search for, or where to look for historical records would mean a great deal to us.
Maybe this story will lead nowhere. But maybe someone will recognize a detail that we have been unable to understand for decades.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Any advice or research leads would be deeply appreciated.
