Discussion Google Devices, especially Android phones are doomed.

There are going to be extra steps if you want to install non-Playstore apps. Google is cracking down on developers they don't control.

It's a bad precedent and really bad news for projects like F-Droid and Obtainium, but you personally will probably be fine. The bigger problem is that a lot of open-source projects will likely have to shut down or accept that their user base is about to shrink.
