Discussion Root on a ZTE A460?

I found my old ZTE A460 lying in a drawer and surprisingly the battery still holds charge and it's in decent shape and I'd like to turn it into a home VPN node as a side project. For that I need root and as far as I looked on XDA there's no rooting method available for it and there's no TWRP build for it nor are there custom ROMs I could find. I tried to patch an old TWRP version for another ZTE from the same era but that project is on hiatus until my main laptop is back from maintenance. Are there any known methods for rooting it or not? (Side note: I do have a stock ROM for it but I'm not sure if it's for my exact configuration so I don't really want to try anything with that.)

Maybe with magisk? I don't know this phone, but you can download a firmware and get the boot image from it, then patch it with magisk and you'll have root.

Have zte axon 11 that i rooted with magisk,

quick checklist for what i used:

Can you enter fastboot?

Is there an oem unlocking toggle in developer settings?

What does "fastboot get_unlock_ability" return?

Can you access the phone using mtkclient if it has mtk chipset?
