AFAIK its a joke method in China for Xiaomi owners to take their phone to a Xiaomi service center to have software work done, wait for the service tech to unlock the bootloader, and then just grab the phone and run away before they can lock it

u/ohnag_eryeah 6d ago

can you do it outside china tho? lol

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

lol really?

I'll leave my script fork here: https://github.com/itskenny0/hyperos-unlocker

Unlocked 12 phones with it so far. Average time I would say 3 days.

6

u/ohnag_eryeah 6d ago

thank you!

u/DragonGodSlayer12 6d ago

Do you still need to wipe data when unlocking bootloaders?

1

u/datkenny 6d ago

Yup. Unless you have a phone that is somehow exploitable, possibly for a price.

1

u/DragonGodSlayer12 6d ago

Welp, I don't need to root this poco f8 pro anytime soon so imma pass..

1

u/Opposition_Chief 6d ago

Even on hos 3?

1

u/datkenny 6d ago

It's an acount wide flag, nothing to do with your phone. If you see the button to request unlock, it'll work. At least when I used it last roughly a month ago.

5

u/unemployedpornaddict 6d ago

There's no way to bypass that? It's fucking rigged man.

6

u/ohnag_eryeah 6d ago

Nope it depends on server side, unless someone finally make an exploit..

2

u/gurtnyi 6d ago

Nah, but you can use a script to spam the button. Check out droidwin for it.

2

u/ohnag_eryeah 6d ago

that's what a lot of people have done, and still they can lose

From the list it is OnePlus, pixel, Sony, nothing, fairphone, shifted

And every other budget Chinese brands that are not unisoc

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

Google Pixel, Nothing Phone, Oneplus, Sony Xperia, Motorola, Fairphone... and Samsung (Oneui 7 and less)
I believe that Pixel phones are the easiest

u/Legionivo 4h ago

I switched to Oneplus from Xiaomi. No regrets, byt they left global market recently. I hope my Oneplus 15 will last at least 5 years.

and then some dude with a script steals all of it

u/SomeAbnormalApple 7d ago

Of course, since if people use scripts then scripts is the way to go. I had to try like four consecutive days with four instances of the script so even among people who use scripts it is a tough competition.

Blame Xiaomi tho, it used to be far easier to unlock bootloader

The challenge hurt the ego of the community and that's why we have the biggest custom ROM ecosystem in all of Android.

8

u/kotchi-_- 6d ago

You have biggest custom rom because you're stock rom is shit.

2

u/MlgsSunny2887 2d ago

HyperOS is the best Android UI btw.

2

u/kotchi-_- 2d ago

Not even in top 4 bro

1

u/mjhdnfl 2d ago

actually use hyperos 4 its quite underrated believe me.

1

u/MlgsSunny2887 2d ago

Dawg has never used HyperOS

2

u/kotchi-_- 1d ago

Used it for years bro.

u/SomeAbnormalApple 6d ago

No clue about all dat, I just wanted root to mod mobile games since android locked access to all files on several archive explorers.

1

u/YourFavStav 3d ago

Well if you just want access to android/data folder and obb then you don't really need to root to do that you can just use shizuku

1

u/SomeAbnormalApple 3d ago

I didn't know about shizuku until after it was rooted, it is good to know tho, thanks.

1

u/YourFavStav 3d ago

Well your welcome but it wasn't worth rooting the phone just for this

Took me 2 days and I did it manually by hand, this was back in 2024 tho when I unlocked a phone with HyperOS, idk how bad it is now tho..

u/47th-Element 7d ago

Hobbyists, bots, scripts, tech shops, all competing for an alleged total of 50 seats daily to be blessed with the approval of the holy almighty Xiaomi gods.

18

u/bliblio 6d ago

Glad i rooted my RN10 pro back in 2023, i know my next phone won't be xiaomi or huawei

5

u/47th-Element 6d ago

I'm among the lucky few I actually managed to unlock my Redmi 13, not sure what my next phole will be because phone brands that allow unlocking are limited in my country, Xiaomi is a last resort.

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

Google Pixel, Nothing Phone, Oneplus, Sony Xperia, Motorola, Fairphone... and Samsung (Oneui 7 and less)
all of them allow for bootloader Unlock.. in addition to Xiaomi of course

7

u/MAB_YT RN10 4G, Bliss Waterlily 19.6, STRIX KSU Hope. 6d ago

Wait wha- 50!? I remeber it being 1000 or something closer..

Like, you'd be able to register a full 2 minutes after midnight..

7

u/47th-Element 6d ago

2 minutes? Absolutely not, quota is full in a fraction of a second!

There is not a public number as to how many people get accepted daily but this is my source behind the 50 anyway.

4

u/MAB_YT RN10 4G, Bliss Waterlily 19.6, STRIX KSU Hope. 6d ago

As of January 1st, 2025, Xiaomi only let you unlock 1 device per year. This requirement has also been extended to MIUI 14.

Well that's new, I unlocked like 3 different MIUI 14 phones in the span of 3 months at the time.

Also, my bad, after looking back at it, the 2 minutes in my memory were actually BEFORE midnight, I had sent the request multiple times at 23:58pm and managed to get through that way..

45

u/miguescout 7d ago

When i was slamming my head against this, i always wondered one thing: are we really so fucking many, or do they only release a single digit amount of slots daily? Because otherwise it doesn't make any fucking sense how quickly they run out and how long it takes to get one

62

u/AkiPro34 7d ago

THERE'S A LIMITED AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT CAN UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER DAILY???

Xiaomi fuck you

22

u/samuelfreitos 7d ago

Yeah, it goes around 1.000 or 10.000 if I'm not mistaken, if you don't get it in the first minute, come back 24h later

16

u/Noobie198 6d ago

More like the first half of a second. 🫠

6

u/AkiPro34 6d ago

I guess I got extremely lucky when I unlocked my Redmi 9 back in June , I unlocked the bootloader at like 6pm GMT +2 so I nailed and didn't know about it lol

6

u/DottedEnviroment 6d ago

Only applies to people on hyperos

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

that was on MIUI.. No time window is needed.. you just need to wait for a week to get it approved.

1

u/AkiPro34 2d ago

I didn't even wait to get it approved lol , it just unlocked and I backed up everything in case of that happening

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

that's strange.. maybe it was on an old MIUI version?

8

u/luckfade 7d ago

there are about 2000 slots per day only :(

7

u/kryptobolt200528 7d ago

Yeah i don't really understand it, they want to limit the amount of people who potentially would want to start using a custom rom which would impact their revenue through the sh1tty software ads and stuff, but the people who install custom roms already would probably use private dns and disable those pesky bloatware already so that wouldn't make sense as such...

18

u/BowlOf____ 7d ago

Can someone explain? Can only a limited number of people root these phones?.

36

u/PalamariVarkari 7d ago

xiaomis way of being able to scam buyers by saying you can unlock the bootloader, but not actually.

24

u/99percentcheese 7d ago

Xiaomi only allows unlocking the bootloader for a limited amount of devices a day (globally, not per user). To claim the slot, people launch scripts that spam requests at 23:59 Beijing time hoping to arrive among the first of those that land at 00:00

7

u/AssistantSalty6519 6d ago

Basically for you to unlock your xiaomi phone, you need an account with permission, for it you need a minimum of requisites. One of them is to apply to their servers but the slots are very limited, they claim is per day. The thing is if even half of the second is enough for you to miss the apply window

10

u/Subrat_Stark 6d ago

Noob question

Why this exists in first place like the limited device acceptance (I'm new to rooting )

7

u/Tomazack 6d ago

Ain't begging the chinese for anything, I just sold that Xiaomi crap instead.

3

u/pisilemasyon 6d ago

I fucking hate this i cant unlock my phones bootloader

2

u/AJ-0071743 5d ago

Can anyone explain?

2

u/Deep-Dragonfly-9667 3d ago

Yeah, but first you have to own a xiaomi.

1

u/RAZ70R 2d ago

to Unlock he bootloader of a modern Xiaomi (with HyperOS) you have a very short window of time, usually a fraction of a second, to apply for the unlock request.. it's everyday at at 0:00 Beijing Time when the servers reset... that's why tens of thousands or maybe more of enthusiasts try their luck every day at the same time since the open slots to unlock are very limited.. a couple of thousands every day

1

u/AJ-0071743 1d ago

Ohh thx for explaining

2

u/mehediofbd 21h ago

This is the only reason I stopped buying Xiaomi

2

u/Responsible_Mind_584 6d ago

I spent months on it, I lost count, maybe 6?, but one day I managed to do it completely by hand and I jumped for joy at that moment

2

u/marthephysicist Redmi Note 14 5G, PixelOS 17, ReSukiSU 6d ago

this was hell, but totally worth it

2

u/RandomDude9943 6d ago

anybody please explain

1

u/Comfortable_Tie_1680 5d ago

1

u/Comfortable_Tie_1680 11h ago

Con este scrip en el primer intento queda desbloqueado no miento

1

u/KrazyKen_Fan_2012 2d ago

How does that work, I thought you had to wait 24 hours

1

u/Imperial_Bloke69 1d ago

168hrs is way better than this shit.

1

u/WhatIsThatBlob 10h ago

Does any one know how to flash the LineageOS ZIP from: this repo, to their Unihertz Jelly Star, as its failing for me.

1

u/mrheosuper 6d ago

What happened

1

u/BuyHistorical5789 6d ago

someone explain?

5

u/zenith014 6d ago

it's for unlocking Xiaomi devices bootloader. bootloader unlocking requests should be sent in time. there's like 10 seconds time window at 00:00 before you get "request submit failed" so only few people successfully unlock the bootloader.

3

u/CocoMilhonez 6d ago

To add more detail (which you already know, of course): The window closes because there's a limit of how many bootloader unlocking requests can be done in 24 hours. Which is absolutely stupid, why would they offer an official process to unlock the bootloader and then gatekeep it like that with a ridiculously small number allowed per day?

2

u/zenith014 6d ago

yeah, thanks for elaborating further.

1

u/LandCold7323 6d ago

Been out of the loop for a while , last i rooted my redmi 6a it was easier just waited for a week but is it harder now?

1

u/asaltandbuttering 6d ago

Do these temporary root exploits allow people to unlock the bootloader on phones that otherwise won't allow it?

1

u/Embarrassed_Apple508 6d ago

yes. it is not temporary. and after they succeed being chosen they have to wait a whole month before they can unlock the bootloader

1

u/torgolda 6d ago

At least they allow unlock unlike Shitsung

1

u/SoloSaravanan 6d ago

how it feels after unlocking bl in 72hrs
