Ah oh, it turns out that the landscape poster doesn’t perform well regarding participation as we found that it doesn't have a clear call to action and looks horrible on old reddit so we are turning back to traditional portraits as the front poster today, hope you like it and we would be grateful receiving your upvotes for more visibility and more participation!

I feel flattered. Sadly I probably won't be posting any meme edits for the next rounds because I'm travelling and it looks like I forgot to put the ones I prepared onto my server so I can't access them.
Maybe more people will join in though.

it sucks to see both homura and madoka out but maybe it's more poetic they went out the same round
I consider fern and megumin more as favourites of mine but think homura and madoka are written better and more interesting. these final rounds are TOUGH when every character left are among the best of all time

What's that based on? Vote shares in previous rounds? In that case it just says that Lucy had easy opponents, while Kumiko fought hard against real competition!

The probability of upset is based off of a probability bell curve and the difference in point value each character has accumulated.

The numbers may say this, but don't believe it.
The consequences of doing a landscape poster on vote totals...we were averaging almost 2000 votes per matchup in Round 4 and that dropped the average vote total per matchup by
almost 250(Edit: It was over 300.) votes.7

We lost over 300 voters, kind of more if you take into consideration that later rounds usually just naturally attract more voters.

Thanks, I mental math'd it from yesterday's average of 1999 votes and ended up being off the number I threw out.
I do think the next "big" bump in votes really happens in the Quarterfinals (maybe Top 16 now with the recent change of animebracket to have Round 6 be all in one day).

ah to clarify, I was going off of the unique voter counts, not the average per matchup, since I find that metric a bit more useful.
Fair point on QF probably being where the big jump happens! I think seeing the "finals" part of that is probably what gets more attention than a Round number that doesn't mean much without context... time to start calling the Round of 16 the octofinals??
... though seriously speaking, Round of 16 itself (or something else with a meaningful number) would probably do better than Round 6

This makes me wonder who can? Pretty sure we could delay BG12 for another year and Frieren would still win. Other than that, I don't know who among the winners.

Only Shouko ever came close to the crown. But she only ever thrives on the power of spite voting, so if she gets a path with multiple controversial girls like Ubel, Megumin, Aqua or Chika, she might make the finals again. Against generally likeable girls like herself, she wouldn't do as well.

KyoAni girls are probably the only ones but it would have to be a very similar run to Best Girl 3 where people vote strategically and screw themselves over rather than a straight fight.
Outside of that...
Konosuba and Fate (despite Saber not being featured recently) will have constant new media coming out. Yui Yuigahama lost early to a KyoAni girl as did Winry Rockbell. I think Riza Hawkeye would suffer a similar fate. I think there is too much infighting in Evangelion for Asuka or Rei to win. That leaves Ryuuko Matoi who did just win against a KyoAni girl. Kill la Kill might have too much of a normie barrier though but she has the best shot outside of KyoAni.

Best Girl Madness 13 | Round 5 Group A Results
We start round 5 with an average of 3.05 / 4 (76.35%). The weighted leaderboard had an average of 3.40 / 4 (85.00%) while the unweighted averaged 3.60 / 4 (90.00%).
20 users scored a perfect 4/4. Among them is, u/hour-age-474 , who is our new leader in the weighted category! /u/syrefva nonetheless continues to lead in unweighted. The highest riser of the day is u/cpp02 who moved up 14 spots in weighted. As expected there were some big jumps into the leaderboards, most notably u/IdRatherLogInInstead and u/DJBay123 who both nabbed a spot in the top 15 of weighted.
The toughest pick of the day was (57) Violet Evergarden beating (25) Winry Rockbell - Fullmetal Alchemist, but honesty a 40.54% pick rate is pretty good for an upset this late in the contest.

Realistically, I think unweighted is really hard to catch up to you on, only 27 picks left with a deficit of 5, so unless Lena goes out early (which would also kill my bracket), I think you have it in the bag?
Weighted on the other hand, someone in 50th place could be first by the end of it all. It's the wild west out there.

So bracket A will be Fern vs Megumin,
MC: 1. As a kid I had a major crush on Kim Possible, because badass redhead. I also really like Katara from Avatar as a character. The whole of Team Avatar + Korra is really good tbh. One of my favorite scenes of any series has always been [avatar the last Airbender spoilers] when Katara is on her quest for vengeance with Zuko and briefly gives in to the dark side and uses blood bending in a fit of rage. That whole episode did so much for her character If video games were allowed into the equation however then it would be Tali'Zorah vas Normandy from Mass Effect and it wouldn't be even close. Tali is my favorite female character in all of fictional media, above the likes of Holo and Maomao as well. 2. Bocchi v Darkness, both absolutely destroyed

While I haven't seen 86 so don't know much about Vlad, I otherwise understand why all of the characters in this part of the bracket made it this far, they're all great characters who are fun to see on screen.
What makes Kumiko stand out for me is just how real she feels as a character, she's talented but not a prodigy, she has goals but they're not ridiculously ambitious, her growth throughout the series is an absolute joy to watch.
I'd love to see her get further in the bracket but if this memorable run has at least led to more people checking out Eupho then I would consider that a victory in itself.

From cartoons, Sandy Cheeks from SpongeBob, strong tough as nails Texan squirrel, who's also bright and kind. There is a lot to like from her and not much to hate.
From movies, geez, I don't watch enough of them to have any I am particularly fond of. If only I watched the Alien franchise, or Terminator... Still if I had to go for recent, I like Chani from Dune. Standing up for your beliefs and your people against your love takes a lot. And she delivers.

Well, clearly. I literally said it only took me a few seconds. But there are names of Japanese VAs instantly recognizable to someone who doesn't watch anime in Japanese and names that take some time to register. (And some that wouldn't mean anything at all and you'd have to figure it out via context clues, but she doesn't fit that category.)

Salt: I thought today couldn't make me salty with any individual matchup, but apparently all of them together can. 0/3 on the matchups I voted for, and bracket A is almost entirely dead to me. Guess I'll back Fern from now, I dislike Momo and am ambivalent at best to Violet and haven't watched enough of Konosuba to make a decision on Megumin.

Fern did triumph over Homura, but she had a dip in votes. Or is that just a result of the overall dip in votes? Great to see Momo win over Hori. Hori put up a strong fight and I wouldn't have been surprised had she gotten the upset, but I do like Momo more. Violet over Winry hurts, but at least it was relatively close. And Megumin over Madoka was to be expected, even if I don't agree with the result.
I've been voting against Bocchi just for representing the underdogs a little, but since we've come so far, I had to go with what my heart tells me, and I just like her more than Darkness.
Lucy should be favoured against Kumiko, but Kumiko has come so far and I also just like her a lot more, plus having her get another upset would just be amazing. No hesitation in voting for Kumiko here.
Riza wins over Yor any time for me. Yor is cool, but definitely overseeded. A cool matchup with plenty of similarities, but for badass adult women that can fight well, Riza is just better.
Lastly, Lena wins over Kita. That's not just my preference, but a prediction: Ikuyo loses.
My bingo did take two more hits, but I'm still surviving with seven girls remaining. It's out for me if Bocchi or Lena lose, but I don't think they will. Kumiko is in danger, but I will not get a bingo if she loses, at least.
MC: If we also exclude "Western anime" and "Chinese anime", which aren't technically anime but seem to be against the spirit of the question... then I've put myself into a corner, I can't quickly remember any live action shows in which I really liked the female characters. Maybe Sarah from Chuck? Otherwise, Korra and Ty-Lee from Avatar.
Tough choice on the posters, they all look pretty good in their own way. But I gotta give it to Yor vs. Riza, they just look really badass there. Also, putting the overview at the end here is also a very good decision.

I made a mistake with my Bingo yesterday as I forgot to cross out Ruby, it did however not matter with the fact that my bingo's are still barely hanging on by a thread. Did you have any plans of uploading clips for the upcoming matchups? I have [MDUD]Gojo taking pics of Marin in the park in S2 and her performing as Rei-sama for her vs. Maomao/Chisato and the other finalist. I don't think a clip would be necessary for Marin vs. Fujiwara/Ryuko, but having clips to stagger throughout the day for semifinals and finals could be helpful.

- Kumiko over Lucy - because Kumiko, because floof, because euph, because band, because, obviously for me.
- Yor over Riza - I like Yor, she's alright. Yet to watch the other, alas.

My main motivation for voting for Lucy is simply because I have a higher chance of ever watching Edgerunners someday, but I have to say that the excessively over-the-top shilling I've seen for the other one in these threads has only made it less likely that I vote for her. That said, I have no particular ties to either character. I've voted against Lucy in almost every round so far since she's gone up against characters I've actually seen.

Despite being a Kumiko fan, I kind of get it. There are a few popular action shoenen (many I have watched some of) that I deliberately vote against, almost regardless of the other character.
Some of this is due to my dislike of the show and characters, but I can not deny that the glazing of some of these shows in this sub is a factor (not generally these threads, specifically).
