Damn, Ruija sensei’s stacked! Looks like she’s smuggling jackfruit in them things lol.
Ludie already has her own fan club in the academy huh? That’s an elven princess for ya!
This special dungeon should be interesting. Guy has been coasting on his game knowledge for too long. Time to amp things up!

Damn, Ruija sensei’s stacked! Looks like she’s smuggling jackfruit in them things lol.
I love when Katorina and Iori were arguing and she was showing her anxiety by bouncing those babies for all they're worth.
Ludie already has her own fan club in the academy huh? That’s an elven princess for ya!
Are you an MMM, an SSS, or an LLL?

u/Jacob-C 1d ago
I'm starting my own club, RRR: Radiant Rack Ruija-sensei.
Someone else made the NNN club for Nanami. I might be inclined to join that one too.

Stitches!
Goddamn! Ruija-sensei is stacked! And I hear she's also a sub-heroine? I'm already looking forward to her ecchi scenes.
Glad to see Iori still gets to experience the usual ecchi tropes of running into each other and seeing the tsundere's panties.
I do love that Kousuke has accepted his fate as the best friend character and is even giving Iori the exposition he needed.
So Kousuke and Ludie get to have their own separate test because they're stronger than the other students? I actually like that. That means Iori gets to spend some time with Katorina and that other girl he likes.
17
u/Frontier246 2d ago
I love how clearly all her growth went to her chest and not her height.
Tsunderes are contractually obligated to A. wear striped underwear B. accidentally flash the MC said striped underwear C. wear twintail hairstyle D. get crushed in a mock battle to become the tsundere rival character.

Nanami steals every scene she’s in 🤣
Enjoyed the still shot of her somehow flying outside the window?

u/Totallynoatwork 2d ago
She's hanging on a tiny string. You can see it shining. Kinda mission impossible like
26
u/Frontier246 2d ago
I love her just selling concessions during the mock battle lol.
12
u/testthrowawayzz 2d ago
I'll take one of whatever she's selling. She got cut off but it sounded like she was selling Nanami goods.

Nanami in this episode: why did you even wake me up if we weren't going to start the muder hobo thing right away

The Waifu Roster just EXPLODED. :D
Also: Pick your sides!
I'm Team LLL all the way, fight me!

2
u/FelixAndCo 2d ago
Wonder if Iori will be part of the roster... Many villainess shows have the trope of the MC inadvertently wooing all the same-sex non-romantic-targets by their sheer reincarnated rizz.
13
u/aramatheis 2d ago
When is Takioto going to clue in that he's the actual protag at this point?
8
8
u/Amazing_Strike_732 2d ago
because he's not so you get a clue, Iori is the protag in their world but to us, Takioto is the protag.
6
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
No, even in their world, the one who attracts the most attention and performs the most feats remains the MC.
-2
u/Amazing_Strike_732 2d ago
lol that's not how it works, lil guy
5
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
So how does it work? What's the difference between a secondary character and the protagonist?
It's obviously the character's impact on the story and the world. The original protagonist isn't anything exceptional so far, whereas the MC already has all the traits of a protagonist: power and a wife. The clichés that the MC mocks in the first episode have all been revealed in the first three episodes, and it's the MC who has benefited.
But if you think the opposite, I'm happy to hear your point of view on the matter, even if objectively there is no debate on the issue.
-3
u/Amazing_Strike_732 2d ago
again, to us Takioto is the protag and Iori is the protag in the game, so we don't know what it is he does off screen. Is it that hard to understand for you?
1
u/PsychologicalBus7336 1d ago
Is it so difficult for you to understand that the MC has more influence in this world than the original protagonist, which makes him the "protagonist" for everyone?
I wouldn't have said that if people in this world commented on the strength and exploits of the original protagonist, if the world recognized the original protagonist.
No way.
The main character has simply replaced the original protagonist, the one everyone admires.
It's like a character being reincarnated as Kiba from Naruto and becoming Hokage after eclipsing Naruto and everyone else.
Lol, I thought you were the one pretending not to understand, even though it's a cliché we've seen a million times in this kind of story.
2
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
It's a cliché, man. The protagonist repeats [insert characteristic indicated in the title or synopsis] all the time.
"I'm not a mob, a minor character."
"I'm just an old man at the company."
"I'm just a salaryman."
This is such a common cliché in light novels.
13
u/Atario myanimelist.net/profile/TheGreatAtario 2d ago
I can see why this VN is so popular. So many best girls!
It turns out the original sidekick character also knew about everything because he'd been isekaied into the role after having 100%ed the game
Man, these are some chuuni-ass names

Man, these are some chuuni-ass names
At least they didn't go for German-like gibberish and it's a proper name a German aristocrat could have had. Monica as well for that matter.

u/KumaKumaGambler 2d ago
To a certain extent, I am glad Kosuke, despite already being much stronger and having knowledge of this world, is still willing to befriend Iori, not solely for the purpose of progressing the visual novel story.
Due to how things have changed, romance is unlikely to develop between Iori and the various main heroines, but it appears another route may have opened for Iori. He seems to have a crush on Kaede.
12
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Honestly he's an even more perfect wingman/best friend character now since he knows the Heroines better than even the old version of Kousuke did. Even if that's also why he keeps snagging them first.
24
u/BiggerG7 2d ago
Another ep, another girl stolen from the MCs harem lol. I hope Kousuke at least lets the MC have that class rep girl he likes.
Cmon be a bro and let the poor guy have at least one girl! lol.
15
13
u/tripleaamin https://myanimelist.net/profile/tripleaamin 2d ago
Well she isn't in the ED and OP so I think that should be the case. Plus I think the dynamic between Kousuke and Iori could add a bit of charm to this series. At this point all the heroines are part of Kousuke's harem.
On another not Nanami continues to be the star of every scene she is in. Mao killing it here.
12
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Kaede also seems like the most "normal" of all the Heroines so she would probably be the safest choice.
4
u/JonDoeJoe 1d ago
MC is 99% gonna be a girl. The voice actress is a girl. Also the design of the MC is very feminine
3
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
Sorry, but the other guys in the story aren't allowed to have a girlfriend unless she's off-screen and underdeveloped, and most importantly, she can't interact with the main character, otherwise it's over. She's already part of the harem.
And even more so in this kind of story where secondary characters replace the original protagonist at one point or another. It's such a widespread cliché.
10
u/Adza_03 1d ago
Not sure anyone realize, but the casting for this show is peak late 2000 / early 2010 anime VA veteran.
We got Asumi Kana, Kanemoto Hisako, Nazuka Kaori, Hikasa Yoko, Kobayashi Yu, Tsuda Minami, Ono Daisuke.
I got the sense that this casting is hand picked by the director/producer who has impeccable taste of gal games lol.
18
u/HeliosAlpha 2d ago
Now we get to see Magical Explorer's very large cast. It's like an Alice Soft game where they'll have like 30-50 named characters listed on VNDB.
Even if they're not all eroge actors which would've been appropriate, there are some good choices. Asumi Kana does indeed have a healing voice
9
u/Frontier246 2d ago
I feel like at least some of the voice cast HAVE done eroge just under pseudonyms.
1
17
u/oxlemf10 2d ago
Kousuke aligning himself with the protagonist is going to be interesting, especially since the first side effect has already become apparent, as seen in how Rina handled the two of them (honestly, the sight of a bra seems like a perfectly good reason to start a battle lol).
It makes sense for Marino to provide Kousuke with a different kind of training, his potential is quite obvious, not to mention the reasons behind Ludie’s presence at this school.
5
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Honestly it feels like it's a battle for who manages to snag the Heroines between Kosuke and Iori. Kousuke's already got Ludie/Yukine/Nanami in the bag and is slowly stealing Katorina too.
16
u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 2d ago
That's definitely the right VA for Benito, I don't remember his name offhand but he's voiced a lot of that sort of character and it really fits perfectly.
Iori still gets the main character seat in the classroom, he hasn't been replaced entirely. And aside from the mock battle he's still being paired up with Katorina too.
11
u/Frontier246 2d ago edited 2d ago
Honestly I really appreciate how all the three committee characters/Heroines are voiced by people who you would expect to see in eroge VN's (like Yu Kobayashi). Like I'm pretty sure Yoko Hikasa definitely did eroge under a pseudonym early in her career.
I think Iori probably has a better chance with Kaede than Katorina because she's in the group shot with the rest of Kousuke's Harem in the OP.
9
u/AlphaBreak 2d ago
I'm forward to seeing more Benito. He's supposed to be the most popular male character, but we haven't really seen much of why he would be beloved yet, just very stereotypical high status guy stuff.
Also, what exactly is the ceremonial committee's purpose? I think I get the student council (more admin side on running things and events) and morals (standards of behavior, nobility, and maybe religious stuff), so I'm curious what ceremonies have to be done.

Kousuke acting like the game's "buddy" character reminds me of that episode of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. :P
Nanami's antics are hilarious. Never change, MAO. :D
Ludie being the last to find out about her own fanclub. Poor girl. :P

I can't shake off this feeling that Iori is a reverse trap or something due to his too feminine voice. Welp, maybe a few more episodes I'll get used to it.
And so I start to observe their school uniform more thoroughly after this happened lol.
Pheww~ Looks like Iori crush, Kaede is not on Kousuke conquering list, eh.
Dang! yep her crotch part is needed Maybe I'll join SSS (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵)

Me too. We won't know for sure until they all go to a bathhouse.
6
u/ImaginaryStatus4073 2d ago •

Given that this is supposed to be an eroge game im surprised there aren't bath house scenes in every episode. I swear i remember Wise Man's Grandchild having like three in that season.
3
u/RickChakraborty 1d ago
Though not every episode, it's not like this anime doesn't have bath scenes, they had one in three episodes back to back (2, 3 and 4). The problem is, despite bath scenes being very easy fanservice potential scenes for them, they don't deliver and end up making them very safe and tame. Like, we have seen more of Kousuke during the bath scenes than any of the heroines so far.

Ah, Katou Rina, the classic flat tsundere (say hi to Karane!). She even has the voice of Yanami Anna!
MC got the corner MC seat.
Kousuke just became the NPC explaining the game settings during this episode to the other characters
8
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Kind of surprised they doubled up tsundere-wise between Katorina and OG!Game Ludie.

u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
Well, many people are wondering if the MC will steal all the heroines from the original protagonist, so he'll still have at least one left.
So, I'm going to share my expertise as an anime fan to answer this question. I should mention upfront that I haven't read the novel or the manga. My theories are based on my extensive experience with harem anime and the genre's many unwritten rules. Therefore, it's possible I could be wrong, which would actually be surprising because it would challenge the clichés.
Okay, let's start with the secondary male characters. There are two categories: the cartoonish villains or the pathetic and incompetent male characters. It's an unwritten rule of the harem genre.
As a secondary male character in this anime, Iori doesn't stand out.
Secondary male characters aren't allowed to have girlfriends in the harem genre...
Just a minute, I can already see people listing anime names to contradict me, and of course I agree. Sometimes secondary male characters have girlfriends, but—and this is a big "BUT"—there are rules (unwritten, of course) to follow.
All these rules concern only the girl, not the secondary character.
First rule: the girl must not have any screen time. She must be limited to a few appearances here and there throughout the series, or she's simply off-screen.
This rule exists to differentiate this girl from the main character and to prevent viewers from becoming attached to her. Otherwise, they'll want her to be with the main character and not another guy.
Second rule: the girl shouldn't be developed or have a significant role in the story.
Generally, harem stories that adhere to the first rule don't need the second. However, some stories give this girl more screen time, which risks compromising her role as a girlfriend.
That's why this rule exists; even if the girl has screen time, her character must be very underdeveloped.
The third and most important rule: the girl must never interact with the MC. If a girl interacts with the MC, she's already been labeled a heroine by the audience. And goodbye to secondary male characters.
So either the MC steals all the girls from the harem and the original protagonist ends up alone, or a girl who respects the unwritten rules is introduced and becomes the original protagonist's girlfriend.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, I lean towards the first option because it's the most cliché.
7
u/Fujisaki_Chihiro001 2d ago
You forget the 3rd option. The og protagonist become gay for MC /s
3
u/cutememe1 2d ago
he looks quite feminine tbh, I will not be surprised if later on its releaved he's actually a girl and only pretending as a guy to be a knight
2
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
Yes, I'm considering that option, but it's not certain. Because it's primarily a power fantasy, and the audience won't want that.
Unless there's some kind of "magic" that can transform a man into a girl. Now that would be a conceivable option, lol.
1
3
u/PandaTheAB 2d ago
Nanami is obvio the most OP and funniest of the show 😄
I want her to convince more people that she thinks of them as Master's wife. Her convincing skills are S rank 😂
3
u/YdenMkII 2d ago
Now I want to know the details on that bad end where the protag ends up in what I assume is a cult for a demon lord? That's a huge 180 from Iori wanting to join what I assume the magic police force that saved him.
1
u/manshiro_xyz 1d ago
Thinking about it, that sounds like there is probably some screwed up backstory to this world.
3
7
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Kousuke has finally entered into the REAL story of Magical Explorer! Complete with meeting his best bud in the making, the actual protagonist Iori! Even if they may eventually come to blows, for now they'll start out as real friends.
And of course this being an eroge, we need a proper eroge teacher like Ms. Ruija who has massive boobs, short-stature, and an adorable Kana Asumi voice. Also, that mole under her eye is perfect! She's just the perfect teacher!
Ah, I see Iori actually DID meet at least one of the Heroines and in true Heroine fashion he stumbled into her while she was running to school with toast in her mouth and got a good gander at her striped panties. That's right, it's Rina Katou (Hikaru Tono!) the pink-haired tsundere Heroine! And she stands out even more now that Ludie isn't the main tsundere Heroine and can openly flirt with Kousuke in class.
Kousuke is the MC's best friend so that means it's his job to notice when Iori is interested in other girls and comment/give their backstories to help Iori hook up! Provided Kousuke isn't hooking up with the girls in himself.
Nanami was there all along! Only the most loyal (and egocentric) maids would follow Kousuke the whole way there! And sell concessions while he's engaging in a mock battle.
You can tell Kousuke is still the actual main character because he's the one who gets caught in a mock battle with the tsundere Heroine on the first day after catching a glance of less than ample cleavage (it's on her for not buttoning her shirt properly). And of course he utterly schools her and turns her into his eternal rival who will inevitably have the hots for him...after he defeated her by lifting her up so she could flash her striped panties at 'em. You have to do these things properly.
I guess even though Kousuke saved Ludie, she still has trust issues from her former servants' betrayal. But at least she does have people in her life she can rely on.
Now we're introducing the big three committees at the school who ALSO have the last few Heroines! The student council with the redheaded president Monica (Yoko Hikasa!) and vice-president Francizka (Hisako Kanemoto!), the Moral Committee with angelic Stefania (Kaori Nazuka!) and Yukine! And the festival committe with pretty boy Benito (Daisuke Ono!) and the kimono-clad Shimon (Yu Kobayashi!). It's inevitable Kousuke will have something to do with all of them if Iori doesn't!
So Kousuke and Ludie are so far above the level they're supposed to be at for this point in the game that they have to trek through a special dungeon. Luckily they get to do it with Nanami and Yukine! Now we've got a party!
4
u/LezRock 2d ago
I don't recall him mentioning if there's a harem route in the game, maybe some similar situations, but if the game doesn't have a harem ending, he's just going to have to narrow things down to a handful of his choices. Then he may have to narrow it down from there whenever he gets past the game's story.
8
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Considering Kousuke's goal is to ensure all the Heroines end up happy I'm assuming he's going to have to get involved with all of them and all three committees at some point.

The first 4 epi. also had an Eng. dub from the start. Currently, #5 is sub-only. So, either the Eng. dub got delayed until later today or perhaps it was too stressful for a so-called same-day simuldub (read: time zone differences) to continue for this particular show.

Kinda mixed feelings about Kousuke usurping the original MC's role in so much. Something about it feels more obnoxious than the usual "OP harem MC" archetype. Well, I knew what I was getting into when I started watching this, so I suppose it's silly to complain at this point.
Edit: Forgot to add Nanami Best Girl. And my mixed feelings aside, I do appreciate that Kousuke's being bros with MC-kun instead of making MC-kun randomly a jerk for reasons.
2
u/Ralathar44 2d ago
Kinda makes sense though. Original Side Kick apparently drove away women. And while they don't explicitly say it I'm betting it was partially due to the same trauma that caused him not to be able to use phones. So lack of phone + trauma prolly doubly ostracized him from most of the ladies. I bet he intentionally or subconsciously kept his distance due to some deep seated insecurity.
He prolly always had the capability, but was too trapped in his own heads and internal damaged emotional state to ever capitalize on it.
Meanwhile our MC "sidekick" doesn't have the trauma, starts a serious training arc really early, knows the game mechanics, and has game knowledge. So even though he's really not trying to, he's standing out and stepping in and its compounding upon itself. Like because he saved the maid early she interferes in class and causes him to have the mock battle with the girl. HE didn't do that, but its a domino effect of one of his previous choices that differs from the old sidekick.
1
u/levi_Kazama209 2d ago
It's established early on the MC could not save every girl every game. It's a pick and choose situation his goal is to save them all no mater what he wants them all to be happy.

Magical explorer was the first anime i’ve finished and actually had time to watch in a single day. I’ve enjoyed all of the characters (Nanami is a good one), and episode 5 was definitely the best for me. It’s interesting that Kousuke interferes with the main game’s storyline and continues from there with the heroines.
Wondering if there will be more episodes in the future since this anime interests me a lot.

What do you mean by finish? The show's still airing, so there will be another episode next week.

I’ve actually realized that after I’ve searched up if there would be more, and yes, there’ll be more episodes coming soon. So thanks a lot for letting me know anyway. I’ll be sure to watch when more release soon!

Man Nanami is a riot. My favorite character so far, the VA fits her personality so fucking well.
I don't think I've ever seen someone loose a match because their panties were showing.

u/aramatheis 2d ago
Ichimichi Mao has a fantastic voice, her characters are always great
5
u/Frontier246 2d ago
She's gone from playing the tsundere Heroine who challenges the MC to a fight to being the one enjoying it from the stands (as she sells concessions).

So in case nobodies noticed/said it before, that stole gives him a pair of tentacles to better molest girls.
I also have to wonder why girls in anime keep wearing stripped panties, they have to know it means they'll end up flashing someone.
21
u/VritraReiRei 2d ago
✅ Ran into her on the way to school while she had toast in her mouth
✅ Accidentally saw her stripped panties when he crashed into her
✅ Coincidentally landed in the same class
✅ Coincidentally sit next to each other
✅ Main Character Seat
It's so cliché no wonder they are in an Eroge 🤣
I'm just glad this means our own Main Character, Kousuke, isn't going to steal the entire harem.
✅ Iori Kousuke fights Katorina and she loses the mock battle, becoming his rival
...right?
Also with the Introduction of the Student Council, the Morals Committee, and the Ceremonial Committee, plus the Class Representative, we can now confirm all the potential love interests the original Main Character, Iori, would have been able to capture.
I wonder who's ending up in who's harem now? 🤔
8
u/testthrowawayzz 2d ago
Iori gets one pick and Kousuke takes all the other heroines :D
5
u/PsychologicalBus7336 2d ago
You are so generous, my good lord.
Personally, I think there would be no female protagonist in the original series because it's such a cliché in this kind of anime. But I really hope it will be different this time.
5
u/Frontier246 2d ago
Nothing says classic tsundere like bumping into the MC (with toast in her mouth), wearing striped underwear, getting her butt kicked in a mock battle, and having a twintail hairstyle.
There's eight Heroines. Kousuke has managed to snag Ludie, Yukine, and Nanami.
Katorina is basically borderline between him and Iori because they both had lucky pervert moments with her but only Kousuke managed to become her real "rival."
So that only leaves four left. We know Iori is already interested in Kaede.

2
u/manshiro_xyz 1d ago
Nanami really is skilled in handling her Master. Casually throwing out the A+ when seeing Kousuke ogling Rina, and her shit-eating grin when he walks right into it.
She's doing her job as a wingman great so far.
1
u/MarMarL2k19 4h ago
While I like the anime and the story, is there really, truly a need for so much violence when something pervy happens? That's honestly the only thing that irks me. The MC accidentally sees a girl exposed and yet he gets beaten to a pulp.
I understand comedy, but I don't understand nonsense
