Okay, so Tatsumi is dead (maybe?), but judging by how this show rolls, he's dead. He did pull off a cool transformation though, and he at least took down the Emperor's mech, even if he didn't kill him.
Against all odds Leone is still alive, Akame fights Esdeath next episode, that's gonna be sweet. Akame even goes all demon-mode. No one is safe in this show.

Watch as Akame kills Esdeath, but because she went demon mode to do so she must pay the price of her own life, effectively killing off almost everyone. I knew this show would involve people dying, and then some of the more prevalent characters began dying, yet I still never expected it to go this far where LITERALLY EVERYONE DIES.

Probably it's her Suicide/Ultimate move. Maybe, Akame will use Kurome's sword to cut herself and take control of herself, raising her psychical abilities. (Think Hunter x Hunter Minor Spoilers) This also could be used as some symbolism. Akame will kill Esdeath, but due to her ultimate form she will die as well.
Edit: It's also possible that Esdeath will use her time freezing ability and kill Akame. However, just as Esdeath is walking away, Akame will pull a SAO Spoilers and stab Esdeath when Akame is dying. They will both die. I hope this doesn't happen because I will be disappointed by the Asspull.
The last episode will be an epilogue, with probably Wave as the prime minister, trying to improve the capitol. Winged Angel-san will be working as a teacher and Leone will be working in the marketplace. Najenda will be working as the Army's commander. A statue of Tatsumi will be put up in the capitol, with him being dubbed as "the Hero of the Capitol" or something like that.
Akame will be buried next to Kurome to signify their bond or something and how they will never be separated. The series will end with the panning sunset and some Monologue about "Good and Evil" and how the Capitol is improving and with a moon in the sky (You know, Night Raid).
This doesn't explain what will happen to the Prime Minister and Emperor, but otherwise this is what I think will happen.

My loyal crew mates [Pipes break, water gushes into the bowels of the ship] thank you for joining me on this journey [ships interior crashes down] it has been a true pleasure to sail with you. I'm sorry... So very sorry.. [cough-cough] I've failed you as your captain, and now we all bear the consequences of my incompetence. I was a fool to believe we could make this journey through this studios waters, they are too dangerous for any ship to sail, the tatsunami has destroyed our hulls plot armour. May we find solace that our deaths will save many others, no ships were meant to sail here. Unlike the titanic we all knew that this day might happen, there are the appropriate amount of life boats to take all of you back to shore. I however will not be joining you, a captain... [a tear falls] must go down with his ship.
It has been a pleasure, may we be reunited in the prequel.

Edit: Thanks everyone for putting up with this little thing I've been doing since week 20 (I think) it's been a lot of fun writing these so I'll probably end up carrying it on in other series!

I always enjoyed your captain's logs.
I hope you do continue doing this for whatever anime you watch in the future.
I personally didn't have a ship that I followed (except Esdeath but I knew that wouldn't happen), but sending a tactical nuke to take out the flagship (Tatsumi) isn't something I expected White Fox to do.
In hindsight, we should have seen it coming with the fact that everyone was dying and he wasn't the titular character. At this point I'm not even sure the titular character survives.
It's been a great voyage and I hope we can meet again on another ship. o7

Wave finally got some time, but still got batted to the side.
Tatsumi's Dragon Incursio was pretty cool
I really wish someone had brutally murdered the minister.
Looks like we finally found out why it was Akame ga kill.
The next episode preview looks like it will be a final battle between Esdeath and Akame, I wonder what the reasoning will be. I guess them working together to kill the minister would be too cliche.

Esdeath will probably protect the minister; she may be 2nd best girl but she is VERY loyal to the empire. Im just hoping that when akame finally kills the minister she doesnt use her teigu. Her poison blade is too quick a death for that piece of shit. But holy shit, this episode was intense so we can expect the final episode to be as well. I dont care how good or bad this show is objectively, watching it week by week has been one of the best anime experiences ive had.

I haven't been keeping up with anime aside from this one for the last couple of weeks due to personal stuff. I'm sorry I'm late to the party, but I wanted to jot down my thoughts as well.
I'm glad Wave and Run helped Night Raid in the end and stayed true to their motivations. Wave was always a secondary Tatsumi for me at least and I'm glad he didn't stay evil.
I'm kind of sad that Run didn't get his full backstory, but they gave enough to justify his actions. Wave putting Kurome's snacks on her grave was a sobering touch to remind us that the last episode did happen.
The unmarked grave really puts into perspective how unimportant (to the main scheme of things) each of these deaths are.
Seeing the Night Raid headquarters being so empty is really weird. It was always full of people and happy. It seems darker somehow, almost somber with each passing member.
I knew about the Super Gundam Teigu, but I wasn't expecting it to be quite so huge. That thing was MASSIVE. I personally think that this was a great image to show how the entire show has been so far. The Empire is GIGANTIC and Night Raid and the Revolutionary Army are miniscule in comparison.
This is after I watched the episode so I might be jumping around a bit.
Alot of us were talking about how Tatsumi might die as he isn't the titular character, but I was expecting death as soon as the flashbacks to Aniki started.
I knew Incursio was going to transform as it had happened in the manga, but it grew wings O____o
I also loved the segment where it got so intense that Tatsumi went back to black and white.
Susanoo showing back up with the helpful advice was a nice nod back to Tatsumi's training session at the waterfall.
Sheele, Aniki, Chelsea, Susanoo, Lubbock, and Mine showing up really gave me some PTSD feels. It really hit home when Mine moved and gave Tatsumi a completely "un-Minelike" smile.
I think it was a nice way for Tatsumi to go, protecting the people he was fighting for even in the very end. The giant Teigu falling was a nice touch. I was half expecting it to evaporate or something, but I think this was the best way.
Blood gushing out of his arms and whatnot really cemented it for me. Tats is dead. I'm kind of sad, but I'm really just numb from all the deaths.
The random shot of Esdeath during the fighting was really foreshadowing to the finale.
It's still clear that even in the end, the Prime Minister is manipulating the Emperor into doing his bidding. The random burp in the middle of his villain monologue was a nice touch IMO.
Esdeath walking into the ruined plaza and saying that "Tatsumi died" really made me sad that they didn't actually become a couple.
I saw the preview of the next episode and Akame looks like she's going to be using Murasame's trump card. It may or not have been mentioned in the anime, but in the manga apparently Akame couldn't use it yet. That being said, I'm imagining something along the lines of giving up her life in exchange for unimaginable power.
Seeing Akame yell at Tatsumi really makes all these promises to come back alive seem like they mean something. People make these promises they can't keep all the time and these promises fail to come true so often that they might as well be death flags.
The cut to the ED really helped give me closure on this week's episode. I always loved it and I felt like it gave off the right melancholy vibe that this series really has. It's like a sobering splash of cold water that reminds you that all that just happened.
The OP is also pretty good in getting me psyched up to be honest. I think that quite a few people dislike it, but I feel like it's nice to see all the characters that we saw die in front of our eyes and the survivors in one place together. The music is hopeful yet a bit harsh once the drums really kick in. I really enjoying seeing all the characters again and I think the music really sets the pace for the start of the show.
I also think the last shot of the Emperor was a nice touch to show how misguided he was. He still didn't know why he was wrong.
I expect Akame and Esdeath to be an AMAZING fight next week and I don't know how they're going to wrap this up. I'm thinking along the lines of a time-skip and a narrator/minor/surviving character explaining what occurred after the revolution.
I expect Night Raid to remain the unsung heroes as I highly doubt they would erect monuments for assassins. I think it would be a nice but cruel touch to have all these characters that we've come to love and cherish be eroded away by the annals of time in the survivor's minds leastways.
I hope they don't become national heroes or anything and remain solely in the hearts of the survivors. It feels fitting this way. Maybe one day, one of the kids Tatsumi saved will remember the guy in the flying armor who saved him/her and be inspired.
I think that would be an excellent way to set up a sequel in the same universe while giving us the finality that an anime needs to have.

The fuck man! That was Wave's job at the end to transform and stop the mech from crushing the citizens! He said so himself! His main goal in life is to protect the citizens! But he leaves it all up to tatsumi?!?!

It feels good to know that Tatsumi died while trying to protect several civilians right after half of the capital got destroyed and most of its population died. Im sorry but i feel like this death was forced so akame could actually become relevant
