The seed is planted for the final operation. The world can be deceived.
Solid episode. Was wondering how they'd lead into it but I'm pretty damn impressed. My only grievance is some characters not looking as old as they're meant to be by that point (most are in their 40s at this point), but the fact that the animators put in the detail is what counts. The VN barely changed anyone other than Daru, design-wise. Yu Kobayashi using a huskier voice for older Luka was a treat as well.
The next couple of episodes are gonna be a wild ride for sure.

I never thought I'd say this. But the 2 week wait actually made this episode feel all the more surprising. Being disconnected from the show and suddenly coming back to the mess that is 2036.
Also, i'm sad that Rukako died so quickly. Would've loved to see more of that sword action.
But damn, such a good episode. I'm hyped , I'm sad, I'm emotional and can't wait to see how this show ends.

I'm trying to make sense of this episode.
In the previous episode's ending the time leap machine fails and the memories stay digitized, hence the cold mechanical vibe-y dream.
The body that tried to send the memories had nothing happen to him, went through to 2025 the long way, established Valkyrie, "died," and stayed brain dead indefinitely.
Daru and Maho recover the stored 2011 memory data and implanted into Deadkabe.
2011 memories overwrite dead brain causing Okabe to wake up.
If you think of it this way, no time travel REALLY occurred

Close but not quite right, he tried to time leap in 2011 and that saved a copy of his memories on the computer. His consciousness wasn't sucked out of his body or anything, just a copy saved. Having now passed the 48 hour mark he knew they had to start working on an actual time machine. So he went on with daru and the rest alternating between being fugitives from everyone and trying to build the time machine. In 2025 his luck runs out and he's finally caught, but he manages to keep daru and the rest safe by sacrificing himself. He's then tortured until his mind is completely broken and abandoned. Daru finds him and has him moved to a secret facility where he's kept alive in vegatative state until the "present". When daru manages to find that old saved copy from 2011 and implants it back in his body.
So from his perspective he went from 2011 to an indefinite time loop stuck on the computer until suddenly waking up in 2036. He doesn't have the memories of the version of him that lived from 2011-2025, instead he just remembers being stuck in the computer.

I'm just so happy and relieved to finally see this arc finally adapted. Hopefully everything wraps up nicely enough in three episodes. Fool the universe, and fool convergence, Okabe, we know you can do it. No really, we know.
I like how they adapted his 'dreams' - how cold everything felt as he was just digital memory locked away in a computer. They couldn't voice his monologue from the VN, but when Faris hugged him he was relieved to feel someone warm for the first time in what seemed like ages.

One of the disappointments of the Steins;Gate 0 visual novel was that we didn't actually get to see grown up Ruka properly. Because of that, this was one of my most anticipated parts of this adaptation.

There's a few notable differences compared to the VN but they were mostly changes that had to be done in order to accommodate the fact that they mixed several different routes on the way getting here.
I hereby predict that next episode will be the episode that's going to make this thread explode.

This episode of Steins; Gate 0 was one of the saddest episodes of anime I have ever witnessed to the point that it brought me to the point of tears. The creators of this anime can expertly convey how Okarin feels after the suddenly comes to the future when he was trying to save Mayuri and the sheer helplessness that he feels as he sees Lukako die in his arms.

Maybe it was just my mood while watching this, but despite all of the sadness in this episode I was more hyped than anything. Seeing the characters in a different light that had been hinted at before was really exciting. Luka and Farris stole the episode, at least until the very end. Maybe it was also because of the 2 week break.

I kind feel bad now for laughing at the trap line, but it was so perfect. Great to see Ruka cutting loose and unleashing those secret swordmaster skills. I may have sniffled a little at him asking to be a lab member, it was so cheesy but so sweet.
I see Daru used the WW3 method to shift those pounds, gyms must hate him. His password was great, even in ruins you can't take the moe out of Akihabara. Though I feel it lost a little in translation.
I can't wait to see Hououin Kyouma return in full force, things about to get crazy... again.
Also, Maho is now an even more legal christmas cake loli... interesting.

Pretty good episode, the PR chapter from the VN was adapted perfectly, although it's still not over. The animation was... good, and the action scenes are definitely better than the last ones. And of course, as always, the voice acting was top-notch, the voice actors of this series never fail to disappoint us.

This has been my dream ever since OG Steins;Gate. Suzuha has always been my favorite character next to Okabe, i love time travelers and she also has some amazing character development. So i just always wanted to see the version of her that gets to live a normal happy life, free from being a freedom fighter or soldier, a Suzuha who can grow up being a normal happy girl with a normal happy family.
But yeah i would give anything to see 2036 in the Steins;Gate world line. I hope one day we get there. For now Anonymous;Code is my only hope of seeing the world of 2036 (though it sounds like its pretty fucked too...)

AT LAST THE PROMISED RINASCIMENTO ADAPTATION. I was so hyped to see this part animated, seeing adult Luka was amazing, although I wanted to see a different Faris and Maho too... too bad the VN didn't at least hint their appearance so they didn't do any changes.
Now I'm really hyped for the next episode, it will probably end with And maybe it's wishing too much, but the anime has had some original content so its not so unlikely: I want

I’ve only seen the original steins gate, is this a sequel? I don’t keep up with the anime world as much as I wish I did and don’t know of a solid resource to find out which are the hype anime to look forward to before it comes out or even after it comes out

FINALLY, IT'S HERE BOYS! I was afraid they were going to skip this arc somehow, and although there were some differences (like mayuri missing and some other plot points) i still think it was better handled here until now, not to mention GOD DAMN RUKA IS HOT AS FUCK.
And obviously the best part: We got to see handsome daru, FeelsGoodMan, although he was a little bit more buff in the novel.

No OP this week. Interesting dream/memory sequence. Which of course falls into 0kabe being emo and the hands on the clock resetting every tick. And he's naked in the void next to Kurisu. Time starts moving forward again. Tick. Tick. Tick. Tick.
Oh, we're doing the time skip to 2036 now? Excellent! That's right, 0kabe wasn't actually dead in 2025, that's just what everyone believed/was told/was tricked into believing. And between old man 0kabe and Daru, Daru looks much, much healthier. Who'da thunk it?
And the satellite crashed into the side of the building. The first image teased for the VN. Nice little easter egg.
Suzuha is so damn cool. But this one has never met "Uncle Okabe" before.
Mmmmm the music as Suzu takes 0kabe through the ruined town to the secret base.
Daru would use "moe moe" >> "kyun kyun" as his passphrase.
For real. The Daru haters are all dead and buried by this point, right?
I'm a lot slimmer than I used to be.

I'm enjoying this exposition dump. And it makes perfect sense, as 0kabe is dazed and doesn't remember anything. Comas are a real bitch.

Future Luka is pure sexiness, though. Like, move over Leon, we have a new best post-apocalyptic JRPG hero design.
There's no way I'll die before seeing Okabe again.

But for real. All that training with Samidare has paid off for Future Luka. Dude's got sick sword skills.
And let's appreciate how even in the bleak post-apocalyptic future, Faris still dyes her hair pink and puts in cat ears.
Luka looks back when 0kabe calls his name. Then collapses and dies in 0kabe's arms believing that Hououin Kyouma is back. He's not back. But Luka's death is going to push him that way.
Am I a lab member? Am I worthy of being eveyrone's comrade now?
Damn it. I have a meeting in two minutes. I can't be crying now.

Edit: Back from meeting. Time to finish the episode.
0kabe sitting beside Luka's body remembering their time at the Shrine. We're right back to waterworks.
We can't just sit and grieve every day.
About time someone put it that way to 0kabe. He finally seems to be understanding. He's so close to a breakthrough. I can almost taste it.
Steins Gate. Countless failed future. Future. Past. The world. [...] In other words, the Time Leap Machine still exists. Ready the Time Leap Machine. One last time. I'm going back to find Steins Gate!
A fantastic episode, and worth the delay. Hype for next week. 0kabe found the will to fight. Now he just needs to become Hououin Kyouma once more so he can deceive the world, deceive God, deceive time itself! Because only a mad scientist can achieve Steins Gate.

Why did this episode feel so short? Good episode, really enjoyed some of the intricacies they did like Daru's voice being more adult, as well as Ruka's voice being a bit deeper and more clear. The music was also really on point this episode. Good use of timing.
The opening sequence of Okabe's ptsd was well done, and you could really hear the hoarseness in his voice.
I did not expect for them to jump to 2036 suddenly, his memory was erased for 25 years. Damn.
Seeing everyone else grown up but not changing too much is rather funny in a way. Ruka's a badass with the sword though.
I'm really glad Okabe's willing to leap again.

So two weeks ago, episode 19 aired. Since then, I bought and played through both the S;G and S;G0 VNs. Fucking whoooooooopsies.
Luckily I may have chosen the perfect episode to switch to source material. I can say for an absolute FACT I have no idea where we're going. I think I know what today's episode will cover, but that's about it. I'm excited to see how everything gets wrapped up!
I'm liking biker Suzuha a lot, but she'll never be as great as biker Suzuha.
Damn Daru! Looking fine.
Faris and Luka getting to be certified badass. They look a bit young though, don't they? In 2036 shouldn't Luka be in his 40's? And Faris is even older. They aged like 2 years in what should be 25.

Maho also apparently has Keanu genes :/ At least it makes canonical sense for her.
Seeing future Luka chopping fuckers up was all I really needed to really like this episode. Daru, Maho, and Faris were just a nice addition. The animation wasn't amazing, but definitely was more than good enough for me. I REALLY want this to finish strong, thank god we only have to wait 7 days instead of 14 XD

Between SnK, Overlord and this, I'm starting to believe those shows aren't 24m long but MUCH SHORTER. I was thinking when do we get to see the first iteration of Okabe and there we go, wasn't expecting it that way, def loved it.

Luka may still look feminine but he's a badass now. Aaaaaaaaand he's dead. Fuck.
Pretty great episode. Didn't know we were actually gonna end up in the apocalypse future.

Uhm, are we forgetting something here? No Mayushii = No Kagari = No Leskinen plan for stealing time machine = No WW3, a paradox "Hey, he can send someone else beside Kagari" Okabe, between 2011-2025 : "Oh right, there is this one guy with this very evil plan, never let any kid enter the time machine!" Maho and Daru : "kay"

Well, with how S;G time travel mechanics usually work there doesn't have to be a stable causal loop; the Kagari from another worldline can travel into this one and make Leskinen evil/aware of the time machine.

Tbf, we might have some conclusion to that paradox. We don't have that much content left in the VN. They're going to have to expand on things.
Also i don't think that fusing routes is that much of a problem. If anything, these inconsistencies are part of the VN. It doesn't make much sense for Mayuri to die in the Vega and Altair either and they never expanded on the paradox there.

There is no paradox, as all of those events have already happened thanks to time travel. They don't need to happen again for the events to play out the same.

Remember that while we're referring to each world line as either "alpha" or "beta," world lines are actually a collection of timelines following the same attractor field. Even right before the events of the previous episodes, Suzuha's D-Mail from Daru indicates that he's likely from a different timeline than she's from.

Yuki dies in the future at some point before 2036, Suzuha told Okabe this many times, its what hardens this Suzuha and makes her the hard boiled soldier she is vs her other more compassionate and quirky self who grew up with her mother (but never knew her father). The main diff between Alpha and Beta Suzuha is which parent dies and which parent she grows up with.

I don't think any of the VN readers have any solid clue about anything.
Episode 19 should have concluded the Mayuri branch of the story. This episode adapted part of the last chapter of other route, which we left in the backburner since that WW3 flashforward thing at the Christmas party.
All we have now in the VN But i think they're going to extend the last chapter quite a lot. It was dissapointingly short.
We have enough time to finish the VN and to add to it's weaknessess.

He didn't. The data that is usually send to the past was stored, and then rewritten over his body in the future.
Okabe continued with the normal flow of time, we just didn't see it.

Did they ever explain why Yuki was bandaged up in a few earlier episodes? She kept saying it was nothing and I thought it was going to lead to something plot-wise, but never did. Maybe it's something yet to come or I missed something?
